Abstract
The tricarbonylrhenium complexes that incorporate a mesoionic carbene ligand represent an emerging and promising class of molecules, the solid-state optical properties of which have rarely been investigated. The aim of this comprehensive study is to compare three of these complexes with their 1,2,3-triazole-based analogues. The Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystallographic data revealed that the triazolylidene derivatives are more prone to π-π interactions than their 1,2,3-triazole-based counterparts. The FT-IR and electrochemical data indicated a stronger electron donor effect from the organic ligand to the rhenium atom for triazolylidene derivatives, which was confirmed by DFT calculations. All compounds were phosphorescent in solution, where the 1,2,3-triazole-based complexes showed unusually strong dependence on dissolved oxygen. All compounds also emitted in the solid state, some of them exhibited marked solid-state luminescence enhancement (SLE) effect. The 1,2,3-triazole based complex Re-Phe even displayed astounding photoluminescence efficiency with quantum yield up to 0.69, and proved to be an excellent candidate for applications linked to aggregation-induced emission (AIE). Interestingly, one triazolylidene-based complex (Re-T-BOP) showed attractive antibacterial activity. This study highlights the potential of these new molecules for applications in the fields of photoluminescent and therapeutic materials, and provides the first bases for the design of efficient molecules in these research areas.

Abstract
Modern classes of antimicrobials are crucial because most drugs in development today are basically antibiotic derivatives. Even though a large number of metal-based compounds have been studied as antimicrobial agents, relatively few studies have examined the antimicrobial properties of Pd(II) and Pt(II) compounds. The [3+2] cycloaddition reactions of [M(N3)L]PF6 (M = Pd(II) and Pt(II); L = 4'-(2-pyridyl)-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine) with 4,4,4-trifluoro-2-butynoic acid ethyl ester gave the corresponding triazolate complexes. The reaction products were fully characterized with a variety of analytical and spectroscopic tools including X-ray crystallographic analysis. The crystal structure of [Pd(triazolatoCF3,COOCH2CH3)L]PF6 provided cut-off evidence that the kinetically formed N1-triazolato isomer favoured the isomerization to the thermodynamically stable N2-analogue. The experimental work was complemented with computational work to get an insight into the nature of the predominant triazolate isomer. The lysozyme binding affinity of the triazolate complexes was examined by mass spectrometry. An analysis of the lysozyme Pd(II) adducts suggests a coordinative covalent mode of binding via the loss of the triazolato ligand. The free ligand and its triazolate complexes displayed selective toxicity against Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans, while no cytotoxicity was observed against the normal human embryonic kidney cell line.

Abstract
The mono- and binuclear azido terpyridine square-planar complexes of ionic formulas, [Pd2(N3)2L]2+ and [Pt(N3)L]+ (L = 1,4-bis(2,2':6',2''-terpyridin-4'yl)benzene), underwent the catalyst-free [3 + 2] cycloaddition coupling with 4,4,4-trifluoro-2-butynoic acid at ambient temperature affording the corresponding triazolate complexes. A mixture of triazolate isomers was generated by these inorganic click reactions. An increase in the solubility of the compounds was achieved by replacing the azido ligand with a triazolato ligand. By calculating the vibrational modes and comparing the total electronic and zero-point energy values, the local minimum structures of the complexes and the nature of the predominant triazolate isomer were verified. The theoretical work was complemented with natural bond analysis to get an insight into the natural charge and electronic arrangement of the metal ion, the hybridization of M-L bonds and strength of M-N bonds.

Abstract
Described is an approach to preparing the first iClick network metallopolymers with porous properties. Treating digoldazido complex 2-AuN3 with trigoldacetylide 3-AuPPh3 or 3-AuPEt3, trialkyne 3-H, tetragoldacetylide 4-AuPPh3, or tetraalkyne 4-H in CH2Cl2 affords five iClick network metallopolymers 5-AuPPh3, 5-AuPEt3, 5-H, 6-AuPPh3, and 6-H. Confirmation of the iClick network metallopolymers comes from FTIR, 13C solid-state cross-coupling magic angle spinning (CPMAS) NMR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and nitrogen and CO2 sorption analysis. Employing model complexes 7-AuPPh3, 7-AuPEt3, 7-H, 8-AuPPh3, and 8-H provides structural insights due to the insolubility of iClick network metallopolymers.

Abstract
Azide cluster complexes [{Re3(μ-Br)3}(N3)9]3- and [{Re3(μ-I)3}(N3)9]3- were obtained by reaction of Re3X9 (X = Br or I, respectively) with sodium azide in methanol. The complexes were crystallized as cesium salts of the compositions Cs3[{Re3(μ-Br)3}(N3)9]·H2O (1) and Cs3[{Re3(μ-I)3}(N3)9]·H2O (2) and characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction and elemental analyses, mass spectrometry, 14N NMR spectroscopy, and DFT calculations. In the anions, each rhenium atom is coordinated by three azide ligands. To the best of our knowledge, these compounds represent the first case of metal cluster polyazide complexes (i.e., where each metal atom bears more than one azide ligand). Both complexes are stable in air but are very shock sensitive, and spontaneous explosive decomposition is also possible.

Abstract
Combining strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) and inorganic click (iClick) reactivity provides access to metal 1,2,3-triazolates. Experimental and computational insights demonstrate that iClick reactivity of the tested metal azides (LM-N3, M = Au, W, Re, Ru and Pt) depends on the accessibility of the azide functionality rather than electronic effects imparted by the metal. SPAAC iClick reactivity with cyclooctyne is observed when the azide functionality is sterically unencumbered, e.g. [Au(N3)(PPh3)] (Au-N3), [W(η3-allyl)(N3)(bpy)(CO)2] (W-N3), and [Re(N3)(bpy)(CO)3] [bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine] (Re-N3). Increased steric bulk and/or preequilibria with high activation barriers prevent SPAAC iClick reactivity for the complexes [Ru(N3)(Tp)(PPh3)2] [Tp = tris(pyrazolyl)borate] (Ru-N3), [Pt(N3)(CH3)(PiPr3)2] [iPr = isopropyl] (Pt(II)-N3), and [Pt(N3)(CH3)3]4 ((PtN3)4). Based on these computational insights, the SPAAC iClick reactivity of [Pt(N3)(CH3)3(P(CH3)3)2] (Pt(IV)-N3) was successfully predicted.

Abstract
The lysozyme binding affinity and the electronic properties of [ReX(CO)3(terpy-κ2N1,N2)] (X = Br- and triazolateCOOCH2CH3,CF3) were reported. The triazolate complex was prepared in a [3 + 2] cycloaddition click reaction. The bromo compound reacted with lysozyme affording adducts with Re(CO)3+ fragments, while the triazolate compound persisted. A red shift of the MLCT band of the triazolate compound in progressively less polar solvents may be due to the negative solvatochromism.

Abstract
Catalyst-free [3+2] cycloaddition coupling between [Ren(N3)n(CO)3nL] (n = 1, L = 1-ethyl-2-(pyridin-2-yl)benzimidazole (L1) and n = 2, L = 1,1′-(hexane-1,6-diyl)bis[2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzimidazole] (L2)) and dimethyl acetylene dicarboxylate (DMAD) afforded mono- and binuclear triazolate complexes. Spectroscopic data presented unambiguous evidence for isomerization of the kinetically formed N(1) bound triazolate isomer into the N(2) analogue. The solvatochromism properties were assessed by UV/Vis spectroscopy with the aid of time dependent density functional theory calculations. The free ligands and their tricarbonyl triazolato Re(i) complexes were screened for their potential antimicrobial activity against different bacterial and fungal pathogens. Abstract
Two tridentate ligand systems bearing N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC), amine and carboxylate donor groups coupled to benzothiazole- or stilbene-based amyloid binding moieties were synthesised. Reaction of the imidazolium salt containing pro-ligands with Re(CO)5Cl yielded the corresponding rhenium metal complexes which were characterised by NMR, and X-ray crystallography. These ligands are of interest for the potential preparation of technetium-99m imaging agents for Alzheimer's disease and the capacity of these rhenium complexes bind to amyloid fibrils composed of amyloid-β peptide and amyloid plaques in human frontal cortex brain tissue was evaluated using fluorescence microscopy. These studies show that the complexes bound efficiently to amyloid-β fibrils and some evidence of binding to amyloid-β plaques.

Abstract
Site-selective organic transformations are commonly required in the synthesis of complex molecules. By employing a bespoke metal-organic framework (MOF, 1·[Mn(CO)3N3]), in which coordinated azide anions are precisely positioned within 1D channels, we present a strategy for the site-selective transformation of dialkynes into alkyne-functionalized triazoles. As an illustration of this approach, 1,7-octadiyne-3,6-dione stoichiometrically furnishes the mono-"click" product N-methyl-4-hex-5'-ynl-1',4'-dione-1,2,3-triazole with only trace bis-triazole side-product. Stepwise insights into conversions of the MOF reaction vessel were obtained by X-ray crystallography, demonstrating that the reactive sites are "isolated" from one another. Single-crystal to single-crystal transformations of the Mn(I)-metalated material 1·[Mn(CO)3(H2O)]Br to the corresponding azide species 1·[Mn(CO)3N3] with sodium azide, followed by a series of [3+2] azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions, are reported. The final liberation of the "click" products from the porous material is achieved by N-alkylation with MeBr, which regenerates starting MOF 1·[Mn(CO)3(H2O)]Br and releases the organic products, as characterized by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Once the dialkyne length exceeds the azide separation, site selectivity is lost, confirming the critical importance of isolated azide moieties for this strategy. We postulate that carefully designed MOFs can act as physical protecting groups to facilitate other site-selective and chemoselective transformations.
