Abstract
A novel copper-catalyzed cross-dehydrogenative-coupling (CDC) process of arylglycine derivatives with N-heteroarenes for the straightforward synthesis of α-aryl-α-heteroaryl α-amino acid scaffolds has been successfully developed. This protocol exhibits a broad substrate scope with good functional group compatibility by utilizing air as the sole oxidant. The use of the reaction is also displayed through the late-stage functionalization of arylglycines bearing natural compounds or drug motifs.

Abstract
A novel procedure for the synthesis of α,α-diaryl-α-amino acid derivatives has been developed. Silver oxide catalyzes the conjugate addition of α-aryl isocyanoacetates to o-quinone diimide, affording the corresponding α,α-diarylisocyano esters in excellent yields and regioselectivities in short reaction times. Acid hydrolysis of the isocyano group provides the corresponding amino acids bearing a diarylated tetrasubstituted carbon atom. The reaction is also amenable to the synthesis of α-alkyl-α-arylisocyano esters, while the reaction with 3-hydroxy o-quinone diimides provides 4H-benzo[e][1,3]oxazines via a conjugate addition/cyclization process.

Abstract
Catalytic enantioselective 1,2-addition reactions of arylboronic acids with 1,2,5-thiadiazoline 1,1-dioxide derivatives were achieved using planar-chiral phosphine-olefin ligand L5 with a bis[(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoro)phenyl]phosphino group, showing ≤98% ee. The enantioselectivities of the addition products were improved by increasing the number of fluoro substituents on the aromatic ring of the ligand. X-ray crystallographic studies of 3aa and [RhCl/L5]2 revealed the absolute configuration of the enantioenriched addition product 3 and the mode of phosphine-olefin bidentate coordination of L5 to a rhodium(I) cation.

Abstract

We report a concise and modular approach to α,α-diaryl
α-amino esters from readily available α-keto esters. This
mild, one-pot protocol proceeds via ketone umpolung, with in situ formation of a Kukhtin–Ramirez intermediate
preceding sequential electrophilic arylation by Bi(V) and SN2 displacement by an amine. The methodology is compatible with a
wide range of anilines and primary amines - including derivatives
of drugs and proteinogenic amino acids - Bi(V) arylating agents, and
α-keto ester substrates.

Abstract
Asymmetric catalysis has emerged as a general and powerful approach for constructing chiral compounds in an enantioselective manner. Hence, developing novel chiral ligands and catalysts that can effectively induce asymmetry in reactions is crucial in modern chemical synthesis. Among such chiral ligands and catalysts, chiral dienes and their metal complexes have received increased attention, and a great progress has been made over the past two decades. This review provides comprehensive and critical information on the essential aspects of chiral diene ligands and their importance in asymmetric catalysis. The literature covered ranges from August 2003 (when the first effective chiral diene ligand for asymmetric catalysis was reported) to October 2021. This review is divided into two parts. In the first part, the chiral diene ligands are categorized according to their structures, and their preparation methods are summarized. In the second part, their applications in asymmetric transformations are presented according to the reaction types.

Abstract
This review aims at providing an overview of the most significant applications of fluorine-containing ligands reported in the literature starting from 2001 until mid-2021. The ligands are classified according to the nature of the donor atoms involved. This review highlights both metal-ligand interactions and the structure-reactivity relationships resulting from the presence of the fluorine atom or fluorine-containing substituents on chiral catalysts.

Abstract
Rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric addition of arylboron reagents to indene derivatives proceeded to give 2-arylindanes in good yields with high enantioselectivity. Deuterium-labeling experiments indicated that the present reaction involved a 1,4-Rh shift from an initially formed benzylrhodium to an arylrhodium intermediate before protonation leading to the corresponding addition product. The asymmetric addition was also successful for acenaphthylene, which has a similar skeleton to indene, where it was found that the benzylrhodium intermediate underwent direct protonation without the 1,4-Rh shift.

Abstract
Highly efficient Ni-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimino esters was, for the first time, successfully developed, providing various chiral α-monosubstituted α-amino acid derivatives with excellent results (97-99% yields, 90 to >99% ee). Cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines were also hydrogenated well to afford chiral amine derivatives with 98-99% yields and 97 to >99% ee. The gram-scale asymmetric hydrogenation was performed well with 85% yield and 99% ee using only 0.2 mol% catalyst.

Abstract
Chiral allylic amines are not only present in many bioactive compounds, but can also be readily transformed to other chiral amines. Therefore, the asymmetric synthesis of chiral allylic amines is highly desired. Herein, we report two types of Ni(II)-catalyzed asymmetric alkenylation of cyclic ketimines for the preparation of chiral allylic amines. When ketimines bear alkyl or alkoxycarbonyl groups, the alkenylation gives five- and six-membered cyclic α-tertiary allylic amine products with excellent yields and enantioselectivities under mild reaction conditions. A variety of ketimines can be used and the method tolerates some variation in alkenylboronic acid scope. Furthermore, with alkenyl five-membered ketimine substrates, an alkenylation/rearrangement reaction occurs, providing seven-membered chiral sulfamide products bearing a conjugated diene skeleton with excellent yields and enantioselectivities. Mechanistic studies reveal that the ring expansion step is a stereospecific site-selective process, which can be catalyzed by acid (Lewis acid or Brønsted acid). Chiral allylic amines are often encountered in bioactive compounds and can be conveniently transformed into other chiral amines. Here, the authors report nickel-catalyzed enantioselective addition and addition/ring-expansion of alkenylboronic acids to ketimines providing a range of valuable chiral azaheterocycles.

Abstract
Heterocycles are crucial structural motifs that are ubiquitously present in biologically active natural products and pharmaceutically important compounds. Over the past few decades, great attention has been paid to develop efficient methodologies for the construction of diverse enantioenriched heterocyclic frameworks. Abstract
Chiral rhodium(I)-catalyzed highly enantioselective arylation of aliphatic N-sulfonyl aldimines with arylboronic acids has been developed. This transformation is achieved by the use of a rhodium/bis(phosphoramidite) catalyst to give enantiomerically enriched α-branched amines (up to 99 % ee). In addition, this system enables efficient synthesis of (+)-NPS R-568 and Cinacalcet which are calcimimetic agents.
