Abstract
Triazene is one of the most versatile building blocks in organic synthesis. Generally, it is viewed as a safe equivalent of diazonium salt, thus immediately finding numerous applications in preparative chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Besides, it can be used as a removable directing group in C-H functionalization or play a smart role as a precursor for aryl cation/radical generation. In this review, we will highlight recent noteworthy developments in this field.

Abstract
A convenient and mild approach for the construction of ynones via N-iodosuccinimide (NIS)-mediated oxidation of propargyl alcohols has been described. This reaction could furnish the ynone products with a diversity of functional groups in moderate to excellent yields, and the flexibility of this method was demonstrated by the gram-scale experiment and further transformation.

Abstract
An efficient Sonogashira coupling of a heterocyclic phosphonium salt with a terminal alkyne via C-P bond cleavage was developed. The reactions proceeded smoothly in the presence of palladium catalyst, copper(I) iodide, and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (DIPEA) in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) at 100 °C for 12 h, producing the corresponding alkynyl-substituted pyridine, quinoline, pyrazine, and quinoxaline in moderate to good yields with wide substrate scope and broad functional group tolerance. In addition, gram-scale synthesis could also be achieved, and the reaction could be applied to the functionalization of alkyne-containing complex molecules derived from sugars and pharmaceutical and naturally occurring products (e.g., estrone, d-galactopyranose, menthol, and ibuprofen).

Abstract
Herein we report a novel Mo-catalyzed carbonylative Sonogashira cross-coupling between 2-iodoglycals and terminal alkynes. The reaction displays major improvements compared to a related Pd-catalyzed procedure previously published by our group, such as utilizing unprotected sugar derivatives as starting materials and tolerance to substrates bearing chelating groups. In this work we also demonstrate the utility of the glyco-alkynone products as platform for further functionalization by synthesizing glyco-flavones via Au-catalyzed 6-endo-dig cyclization. A highly efficient palladium-catalyzed arylation of azoles at the C2-position using 1-aryltriazenes as aryl reagents was developed. Azoles including oxazoles, thiazoles, imidazoles, 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, and oxazolines could react with 1-aryltriazenes smoothly to generate the corresponding products in good to excellent yields, and various substitution patterns were tolerated toward the reaction.

Abstract
A metal-free, Brønsted acid, pTsOH-catalyzed intramolecular rearrangement of δ-hydroxyalkynones to substituted 2,3-dihydro-4 H-pyran-4-ones was developed. The rearrangement occurs with high regioselectivity under mild and open-air conditions. The scope of work was illustrated by synthesizing an array of aliphatic and aromatic substituted 2,3-dihydro-4 H-pyran-4-ones in up to 96% yield, 100% atom economy, and complete regioselectivity. Some of the dihydropyranones are utilized for vinylic halogenations and to complete the total synthesis of bioactive natural products, obolactone and a catechol pyran isolated from Plectranthus sylvestris ( Labiatae) .

Abstract
A simple and versatile method for the preparation of linear, trisubstituted triazenes is reported. The procedure is based on the reaction of Grignard reagents with 1-azido-4-iodobutane or 4-azidobutyl-4-methylbenzenesulfonate. These organic azides enable the regioselective formation of triazenes via an intramolecular cyclization step. The new method can be used for the preparation of aryl, heteroaryl, vinyl, and alkyl triazenes. The synthetic utility of vinyl triazenes is demonstrated by acid-induced C-N, C-O, C-F, C-P, and C-S bond-forming reactions.
