Abstract
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were applied to describe the hydrothiolation reaction of activated alkynes with thiols bearing a catechol group. The thiol-yne click (TYC) process was efficiently catalysed by a CuNPs/TiO2 nanocatalyst giving the corresponding anti-Markovnikov vinyl sulphides with high Z-stereoselectivity. Based on the experimental results and DFT studies, a plausible reaction mechanism is proposed, which implies the activation of the carbon-carbon triple bond by coordination to the copper centre, followed by a stereoselective (external) nucleophilic attack to give preferentially the Z-vinyl sulphide isomer. Additionally, experimental and theoretical studies strongly correlate with the proposed synergistic role for the TiO2 support in the catalytic process.

Abstract
The synthesis of unsymmetrical dithioacetals based on gold catalysis is described. Although many approaches to the preparation of symmetrical dithioacetals have been developed, the methods to access unsymmetrical ones remain limited. In this regard, we report a mild synthetic method with a broad substrate scope. Screening of various gold catalysts identified a catalyst, which allows the hydrothiolation of both activated and unactivated vinyl sulfides with high efficiency. Moreover, the reaction displays broad compatibility for both aryl and aliphatic thiols.

Abstract
Gold-catalyzed reactions between sulfenamides and terminal alkynes proceeded via cis-insertion of alkynes into the N-S bond in sulfenamides, affording the corresponding β-sulfenylenamines in yields up to 90%. Mechanistic studies revealed that the reactions proceeded via nucleophilic attack of the sulfenamide nitrogen atom on the π-activated alkyne, followed by tosylate-assisted intermolecular transfer of the sulfenyl group.

Abstract
It is very important to develop multiple C–H substitution reactions of simple alkenes to obtain complex unsaturated components. The present study focuses on a theoretical investigation of the plausible mechanism in the Fe(OTf)3-catalyzed tandem amidomethylative reactions of α-phenylstyrene. Bis(tosylamido)methane is activated by Fe(OTf)3 to form tosylformaldimine and its Fe(OTf)3-adduct. The Fe(OTf)3-adduct undergoes an intermolecular aza-Prins reaction with α-phenylstyrene to form allylamide. The DFT data support the formation of the hexahydropyrimidine derivative from allylamide, and “condensation/iminium homologation/intramolecular aza-Prins” is the optimal reaction path. At the same time, a possible reaction pathway for the conversion of the hydrolysate 1,3-diamide derivative to the hexahydropyrimidine (HHP) derivative is given. This work is thus instructive for understanding Fe(iii)-based tandem catalysis for the amidomethylative multiple-substitution reactions of alkenes. It is very important to develop multiple C–H substitution reactions of simple alkenes to obtain complex unsaturated components.![]()

Abstract
Dinuclear gold complexes have the ability to interact with one or more substrates in a dual-activation mode, leading to different reactivity and selectivity than their mononuclear relatives. In this contribution, this difference was used to control the catalytic properties of a gold-based catalytic system by site-isolation of mononuclear gold complexes by selective encapsulation. The typical dual-activation mode is prohibited by this catalyst encapsulation, leading to typical behavior as a result of mononuclear activation. This strategy can be used as a switch (on/off) for a catalytic reaction and also permits reversible control over the product distribution during the course of a reaction.

Abstract
This review covers recent achievements in metal-catalyzed Z-H and Z-Z (Z=S, Se) bond addition to the triple bonds of alkynes-a convenient and atom-efficient way to carbon-element bond formation. Various catalytic systems (both homogeneous and heterogeneous) developed to date to obtain mono- and bis-chalcogen-substituted alkenes or dienes, as well as carbonyl compounds or heterocycles, starting from simple and available alkynes and chalcogenols or dichalcogenides are described. The right choice of metal and ligands allows us to perform these transformations with high selectivities under mild reaction conditions, thus tolerating unprotected functional groups in substrates and broadening ways of further modification of the products. The main aim of the review is to show the potential of the catalytic methods developed in synthetic organic chemistry. Thus, emphasis is made on the scope of reactions, types of products that can be selectively formed, convenience, and scalability of the catalytic procedures. A brief mechanistic description is also given to introduce new readers to the topic.
