Abstract
A new pentacoordinated Cd(ii)-CP based on a flexible nitrogen donor ligand (L) and a corresponding core–shell magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2@Cd(ii)-CP hybrid have been synthesized by ultrasonic irradiation. The products can be proposed as good recyclable adsorbents for the selective adsorption of Congo red dye.

Abstract
In this work we determine the linear and non-linear optical properties of a Fluoro-N-Acylhydrazide derivative (FBHZ), using a combined supermolecule approach and an iterative scheme of electrostatic polarization, where the atoms of neighbouring molecules are represented by point charges. Our results for non-linear optics (NLO) are comparable to those found experimentally, suggesting that FBHZ constitutes an attractive object for future studies and for use as an interesting material for third-order NLO applications. The dynamic electrical properties of FBHZ in different solvent media are reported. Its molecular properties are closely related to supramolecular features; accordingly, we analysed all its crystal structure properties via intermolecular interactions in the solid state, using X-ray crystallography data and Hirshfeld surface (HS), including thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and hot-stage microscopy (HSM), where the results reveal crystal stability in respect to temperature variation.

Abstract
Three new manganese(II) complexes, {[Mn(PTP)]2[Mn(PTP)(H2O)]}(BTA)2·2H2O (1), [Mn(PTP)(ODA)]2 (2), and [Mn(FTP)(ODA)]2·H2O (3), were synthesized by the reactions of manganese acetate and polycarboxylic acid in the presence of N-heterocyclic ligands (where PTP=4′-phenyl-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine, H3BTA=benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid, H2ODA=4,4′-oxydibenzoic acid, FTP=4′-(furan-2-yl)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine). In complex 1, each BTA ligand serves as a μ
3-bridge to link three Mn(II) centers, whereas each Mn(II) center is coordinated by two BTA ligands. This connection mode results in a grid sheet. Complexes 2 and 3 have very similar molecular structures with Mn(II) centers connected by ODA ligands to result in ring-like arrays. We investigated the third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of the three complexes by single beam Z-scan techniques. Complexes 1–3 exhibit strong third-order NLO reverse saturable absorption with NLO absorptive indices β=1.32×10−6, 3.01×10−6, and 9.42×10−6 m W−1, respectively. In addition, complex 1 shows all excellent self-focusing effect with an NLO refractive index of γ=1.25×10−12 m2 W−1. The third-order NLO susceptibility χ
(3) of the three complexes were calculated as 47.55×10−8, 4.85×10−8, and 15.16×10−8 esu, respectively.

Abstract
The design of nonlinear optical (NLO) materials with large NLO responses has been a challenge for materials scientists and chemists. Recently, organic polymers have received attention regarding their NLO properties and fast nonlinear response, and clusters involving delocalizeddπ–pπ systems and conjugateddπ–pπ systems are expected to be a new class of NLO materials. Metal–organic coordination polymers combine the advantages of the organic and inorganic species. Thus far, tuning the third-order NLO properties of these materials has been a significant challenge. A two-dimensional coordination polymer, namely poly[(μ-benzene-1,2-dicarboxylato-κ3O1,O1′:O3){μ-1,2-bis[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]benzene-κ2N3:N3′}cobalt(II)], [Co(C8H4O4)(C14H14N4)]n, was synthesized by hydrothermal methods. In the structure, the CoIIion is pentacoordinated by two N atoms from two different 1,2-bis[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]benzene (1,2-BIB) ligands and three O atoms from two symmetry-related benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate (isophthalate, PA) anions. The pentacoordinated CoIIions are linked by PA ligands to form a chain structure parallel to thecaxis. Adjacent chains are further connected by 1,2-BIB ligands to produce a two-dimensional layered structure. The compound exhibits strong third-order nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction effects as a thin film. The third-order susceptibility χ(3)is calculated to be 1.07 × 10−8esu, which is much larger than the values found for pure inorganic semiconductors and some polymers.
