Abstract
A novel and an expedient metal- and solvent-free synthesis of a wide variety of 2-benzyl-4-arylquinoline derivatives is described from readily available aryl amines, styrene oxides and aryl acetylenes in the presence of 10 mol% molecular iodine. This domino reaction occurs under metal- and solvent-free conditions at 120 °C, which avoids the usage of metal catalyst and as a consequence generation of metal waste. The salient features of this methodology are the use of simple starting materials, ease of handling, high regioselectivity, shorter reaction time, atom-economical, step-economical, the formation of one C-N and two C-C bonds and a wide range of functional groups tolerance.

Abstract
An efficient, useful and one-pot protocol for the synthesis of quinoline-2,4-dicarboxylate scaffolds is accomplished from aryl amines and dimethyl/diethyl acetylenedicarboxylates using 20 mol% molecular iodine as a catalyst in acetonitrile at 80 °C. In addition, the mechanistic explanation for the formation of the desired products is disclosed. The pivotal role of molecular iodine in the formation of the major products, diester quinoline derivatives, and the minor product, triesters, in two cases is described in the mechanism. The notable advantages of this method are non-involvement of a metal catalyst, avoiding of metal contamination in the final product as well as waste generation, use of a low cost and eco-friendly catalyst, ease of handling, high regioselectivity, shorter reaction time, the formation of one C-N and two C-C bonds and a broad substrate scope with good yields.

Abstract
Coumarins are natural heterocycles that widely contribute to the design of various biologically active compounds. Fusing different aromatic heterocycles with coumarin at its 3,4-position is one of the interesting approaches to generating novel molecules with various biological activities. During our continuing interest in assembling information about fused five-membered aromatic heterocycles, and after having presented mono-hetero-atomic five-membered aromatic heterocycles in Part I. The current review Part II is intended to present an overview of the different synthetic routes to coumarin (benzopyrone)-fused five-membered aromatic heterocycles with multi-heteroatoms built on the pyrone ring, covering the literature from 1945 to 2021.

Efficient synthesis of 4-sulfanylcoumarins from 3-bromo-coumarins via a highly selective DABCO-mediated one-pot thia-Michael addition/elimination process. RSC Adv 2020; 10:482-491. Abstract
A facile and efficient protocol for the highly selective direct sulfanylation of 3-bromocoumarins under DABCO promotion, was developed. The transformation took place with aromatic and aliphatic thiols as well as with α,ω-dithiols, affording the expected products in very good to excellent yields. Simple and convenient ways to access 4-((ω-mercaptoalkyl) thio)coumarins and the dimeric 4,4′-(alkane-1,4-diylbis(sulfanediyl))bis(coumarins) were also devised with the use of α,ω-alkanedithiols in different ratios with regards to the starting 3-bromocoumarin. The transformation seems to proceed through the DABCO-mediated thia-Michael stereoselective addition of the thiolate anion to the α,β-unsaturated carbonyl system of the coumarin, followed by a DABCO-assisted stereoselective dehydrobromination of the resulting α-bromo carbonyl intermediate. A facile, simple and metal-free protocol for the 4-sulfanylation of 3-bromocoumarins was developed. It involves a thia-Michael addition and a dehydrobromination under DABCO assistance.![]()

Abstract
A practical and efficient synthetic procedure to novel chromeno[3,2-d]oxazoles through a one-pot sequential multistep process is presented. This procedure proceeds efficiently in propylene carbonate (PC) as a green solvent and affords a wide range of the chromenooxazole scaffolds.
