Abstract
Hydrogels based on chitosan or alginate biopolymers are believed to be desirable for covering skin lesions. In this research, we explored the potential of a new composite hydrogels series of sodium alginate (Alg) filled with cross-linked chitosan to use as hydrogel wound dressings. Cross-linked chitosan (CSPN) was synthesized by Schiff-base reaction with aldehydated cyclophosphazene, and its Cu(II) complex was manufactured and identified. Then, their powder suspension and Alg were transformed into hydrogel via ion-crosslinking with Ca2+. The hydrogel constituents were investigated by using FTIR, XRD, rheological techniques, and thermal analysis including TGA (DTG) and DSC. Moreover, structure optimization calculations were performed with the Material Studio 2017 program based on DFT-D per Dmol3 module. Examination of Alg's interactions with CSPN and CSPN-Cu using this module demonstrated that Alg molecules can be well adsorbed to the particle's surface. By changing the dosage of CSPN and CSPN-Cu, the number and size of pores, swelling rate, degradation behavior, protein absorption rate, cytotoxicity and blood compatibility were changed significantly. Subsequently, we employed erythromycin as a model drug to assess the entrapment efficiency, loading capacity, and drug release rate. FITC staining was selected to verify the hydrogels' intracellular uptake. Assuring the cytocompatibility of Alg-based hydrogels was approved by assessing the survival rate of fibroblast cells using MTT assay. However, the presence of Cu(II) in the developed hydrogels caused a significant antibacterial effect, which was comparable to the antibiotic-containing hydrogels. Our findings predict these porous, biodegradable, and mechanically stable hydrogels potentially have a promising future in the wound healing as antibiotic-free antibacterial dressings.

Abstract
Cyclotriphosphazen-hexa imine ligand was prepared through successive reactions of phosphonitrilchloride trimer with 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and (3-aminopropyl) triethoxy silane. The as-prepared ligand was then covalently grafted on boehmite to furnish an efficient support for the immobilization of Pd nanoparticles and synthesis of a novel heterogeneous catalyst for hydrogenation of nitro arenes. The catalytic tests revealed that the catalyst had excellent catalytic activity for hydrogenation of various nitro arenes with different steric and electronic features under mild reaction condition in aqueous media. Noteworthy, the catalyst was highly selective and in the substrates with ketone or aldehyde functionalities, reduction of nitro group was only observed. The catalyst was also recyclable and only slight loss of activity was detected after each recycling run. Hot filtration test also approved true heterogeneous nature of catalysis.

Abstract
Effective removal of excess greenhouse gas CO2 necessitates new adsorbents that can overcome the shortcomings of the current capture methods. To achieve that, porous materials are often modified post-synthetically with reactive amine functionalities but suffer from significant surface area losses. Herein, we report a successful amine post-functionalization of a highly porous covalent organic polymer, COP-130, without losing much porosity. By varying the amine substituents, we recorded a remarkable increase in CO2 uptake and selectivity. Ketone functionality, a rarely accessible functional group for porous polymers, was inserted prior to amination and led to covalent tethering of amines. Interestingly, aminated polymers demonstrated relatively low heats of adsorption, which is useful for the rapid recyclability of materials, due to the formation of suspected intramolecular hydrogen bonding.

Abstract
The development of adsorptive materials continues to be an important area of research for removal of heavy metal ions from waste water. The adsorption capacity can be modulated by both physical and chemical modification of the adsorbent. Herein, we combine the unique properties of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) and organocyclophosphazene as the building units to synthesize a hybrid porous material, abbreviated as PN-POSS. The synthetic method follows a Heck reaction between hexa(4-bromophenoxy)cyclotriphosphazene and octavinylsilsesquioxane (OVS). The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis shows that the material possesses micro- and mesopores of 1.5 and 3.8 nm size and a surface area on the order of 500 m2 g-1 . These attributes in combination with the donor ability of the phosphazene units qualify the material for high adsorption of Pb2+ , Hg2+ and Cu2+ ions with maximal adsorption capacities on the order of 1326, 1927 and 2654 mg g-1 , respectively. The adsorbent exhibits a good regeneration performance and can be effectively used for water treatment.

Abstract
Nitrogen-enriched nanoporous polytriazines (NENPs) have been synthesized by ultrafast microwave-assisted condensation of melamine and cyanuric chloride. The experimental conditions have been optimized to tune the textural properties by synthesizing materials at different times, temperatures, microwave powers, and solvent contents. The maximum specific surface area (SABET) of 840 m2 g-1 was estimated in the sample (NENP-1) synthesized at 140 °C with a microwave power of 400 W and reaction time of 30 min. One of the major objectives of achieving a large nitrogen content as high as 52 wt % in the framework was realized. As predicted, the nitrogen amelioration has benefitted the application by capturing a very good amount of CO2 of 22.9 wt % at 273 K and 1 bar. Moreover, the CO2 storage capacity per unit specific surface area (per m2 g-1) is highest among the reported nanoporous organic frameworks. The interaction of the CO2 molecules with the polytriazine framework was theoretically investigated by using density functional theory. The experimental CO2 capture capacity was validated from the outcome of the theoretical calculations. The superior CO2 capture capability along with the theoretical investigation not only makes the nanoporous NENPs superior adsorbents for the energy and environmental applications but also provides a significant insight into the fundamental understanding of the interaction of CO2 molecules with the amine functionalities of the nanoporous frameworks.

Abstract
Cyclophosphazene-based inorganic-organic hybrid nanoporous materials (CHNMs) have been synthesized by a facile solvothermal method. The condensation of pyrrole with the reaction product of phosphonitrilic chloride trimer and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde resulted in the formation of high-surface-area CHNMs. The maximum specific surface area (SABET) of 1328 m2 g-1 with hierarchical pore structures having micropores centered at 1.18 nm and mesopores in the range of 2.6-3.6 nm was estimated from the N2 sorption analysis. Observation of high SABET could be attributed to the synergy effect exerted by the cyclophosphazene moiety owing to its three-dimensional paddle wheel structure. The metal-free adsorbent exhibited a high and reversible CO2 uptake of 22.8 wt % at 273 K and 1 bar. The performance is on the higher side among the reported metal-free inorganic-organic hybrid nanoporous adsorbents. Moreover, the high H2 uptake of 2.02 wt % at 77 K and 1 bar is an added advantage. The superior performance of the adsorbents for the gas sorption applications could be attributed to the combined effect of high SABET and hierarchical pore structure, which has made CHNMs good candidates for energy and environmental applications.

Abstract
Core-shell ZIF-8@ZIF-67- and ZIF-67@ZIF-8-based zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) were synthesized solvothermally using a seed-mediated methodology. Transmission electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, line scan, elemental mapping, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy analyses were performed to confirm the formation of a core-shell structure with the controlled Co/Zn elemental composition of ∼0.50 for both the core-shell ZIFs. The synthesized core-shell ZIF-8@ZIF-67 and ZIF-67@ZIF-8 frameworks conferred enhanced H2 (2.03 and 1.69 wt %) storage properties at 77 K and 1 bar, which are ca. 41 and 18%, respectively, higher than that of the parent ZIF-8. Notably, the distinctly remarkable H2 storage properties shown by both the core-shell ZIFs over the bimetallic Co/Zn-ZIF and the physical mixture of ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 clearly evidenced their unique structural properties (confinement of porosity) and elemental heterogeneity due to the core-shell morphology of the outperforming core-shell ZIFs. Moreover, H2 adsorption isotherm data of these frameworks are best fitted with the Langmuir model (R 2 ≥ 0.9999). Along with the remarkably enhanced H2 storage capacities, the core-shell ZIFs also displayed an improved CO2 capture behavior. Hence, we demonstrated here that the controlled structural features endorsed by the rationally designed porous materials may find high potential in H2 storage applications.

Abstract
A hybrid nanostructure based on reduced graphene oxide and ZnO has been obtained for the detection of volatile organic compounds. The sensing properties of the hybrid structure have been studied for different concentrations of ethanol and acetone. The response of the hybrid material is significantly higher compared to pristine ZnO nanostructures. The obtained results have shown that the nanohybrid is a promising structure for the monitoring of environmental pollutants and for the application of breath tests in assessment of exposure to volatile organic compounds.
