An electrochemical platform based on a hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs modified aptasensor for sensitive detection of kanamycin

Kanamycin (KANA) residue in meat is particularly harmful to public health and there is an urgent need to establish a fast, accurate and low-cost method to determinate KANA in food quality control. In this paper, hemin-reduced graphene oxide-carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs) were designed and prepared, and the characteristics of hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs are presented. After that, an aptamer/hemin-rGO-cMWCNTs sensor for determination of KANA was developed. The electrochemical characteristics were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Under optimal conditions, the sensitive response of the aptasensor towards KANA presented a wide concentration range of 10-9 to 10-6 M and a low detection limit of 0.36 nM (S/N = 3). Meanwhile, the aptasensor showed prominent selectivity, high stability and acceptable reproducibility in the application of KANA detection. In addition, the aptasensor detection in real samples correlated well with that obtained by liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer (LCMS).

Electrochemical sensing technology for liquid biopsy of circulating tumor cells-a review

In recent years, a lot of new detection techniques for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have been developed. Among them, electrochemical sensing technology has gradually developed because of its advantages of good selectivity, high sensitivity, low cost and rapid detection. Especially in the latest decade, the field of electrochemical biosensing has witnessed great progress, thanks to the merging of biosensing research area with nanotechnology, immunotechnology, nucleic acid technology, and microfluidic technology. In this review, the recent progress for the detection of CTCs according to the principle of detection was summarized and how they can contribute to the enhanced performance of such biosensors was explained. The latest electrode construction strategies such as rolling circle amplification reaction, DNA walker and microfluidic technology and their advantages were also introduced emphatically. Moreover, the main reasonswhy the existing biosensors have not been widely used clinically and the next research points were clearly put forward.

Recent Advances in the Design and Sensing Applications of Hemin/Coordination Polymer-Based Nanocomposites

The fabrication of biomimetic catalysts as substituents for enzymes is of critical interest in the field due to the problems associated with the extraction, purification, and storage of enzymes in sensing applications. Of these mimetics, hemin/coordination polymer-based nanocomposites, mainly hemin/metal-organic frameworks (MOF), have been developed for various biosensing applications because of the unique properties of each component, while trying to mimic the normal biological functions of heme within the protein milieu of enzymes. This critical review first discusses the different catalytic functions of heme in the body in the form of enzyme/protein structures. The properties of hemin dimerization are then elucidated with the supposed models of hemin oxidation. After that, the progress in the fabrication of hemin/MOF nanocomposites for the sensing of diverse biological molecules is discussed. Finally, the challenges in developing this type of composites are examined as well as possible proposals for future directions to enhance the sensing performance in this field further.

Signal-On Electrochemiluminescence of Self-Ordered Molybdenum Oxynitride Nanotube Arrays for Label-Free Cytosensing

In this paper, a signal-on electrochemiluminescence (ECL) cytosensing platform was developed based on nitrogen doped molybdenum oxynitride nanotube arrays (MoO _xN _y NTs) for the first time. The MoO _xN _y NTs exhibited excellent cathodic ECL behavior with 2-(dibutylamino)-ethanol (DBAE) as a coreactant. Owing to the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Au triggered by the ECL emission, the generation of "hot electrons" on AuNPs hampered DBAE to give off electrons and leads to the ECL quenching. This process could be hindered via adding "barriers" on the surface of AuNPs, such as antibody molecules and cells, to achieve the signal recovery. Based on the quenching-recovering mechanism, a facile label-free ECL cytosensor was constructed. The linear response of HepG2 cells was in the range of 50-13800 cells mL^-1 with a low detection limit of 47 cells mL^-1 (S/N = 3). Moreover, the proposed ECL cytosensor exhibits a satisfying performance in the practical application. Due to the anodic formation from a Mo metal substrate, the valuable feature is that the MoO _xN _y NTs-based ECL cytosensor can be used directly, thereby providing a stable and simplified ECL cytosensing platform for future clinical applications.

Efficient double-quenching of electrochemiluminescence from CdS:Eu QDs by hemin-graphene-Au nanorods ternary composite for ultrasensitive immunoassay

A novel ternary composite of hemin-graphene-Au nanorods (H-RGO-Au NRs) with high electrocatalytic activity was synthesized by a simple method. And this ternary composite was firstly used in construction of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor due to its double-quenching effect of quantum dots (QDs). Based on the high electrocatalytic activity of ternary complexes for the reduction of H₂O₂ which acted as the coreactant of QDs-based ECL, as a result, the ECL intensity of QDs decreased. Besides, due to the ECL resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) strategy between the large amount of Au nanorods (Au NRs) on the ternary composite surface and the CdS:Eu QDs, the ECL intensity of QDs was further quenched. Based on the double-quenching effect, a novel ultrasensitive ECL immunoassay method for detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) which is used as a model biomarker analyte was proposed. The designed immunoassay method showed a linear range from 0.01 pg mL⁻¹ to 1.0 ng mL⁻¹ with a detection limit of 0.01 pg mL⁻¹. The method showing low detection limit, good stability and acceptable fabrication reproducibility, provided a new approach for ECL immunoassay sensing and significant prospect for practical application.
