Abstract
This review focuses on optical properties of compounds in which at least one phosphonate group is directly attached to a heteroaromatic ring. Additionally, the synthesis and other applications of these compounds are addressed in this work. The influence of the phosphonate substituent on the properties of the described compounds is discussed and compared with other non-phosphorus substituents, with particular attention given to photophysical properties, such as UV-Vis absorption and emission, fluorescence quantum yield and fluorescence lifetime. Considering the presence of heteroatom, the collected material was divided into two parts, and a review of the literature of the last thirty years on heteroaryl phosphonates containing sulfur and nitrogen atoms in the aromatic ring was conducted.

Abstract
Perovskite quantum dot light-emitting diodes (PeQLEDs) have emerged as a promising candidate for high-quality lightings and displays, where an electron transporting layer (ETL) is required to achieve balanced charge transport and thus high performance. However, the ETL is often thermally-deposited under vacuum, since the low-cost solution process would damage the underlying perovskite quantum dots (PeQDs). Here, we demonstrate efficient all-solution-processed PeQLEDs based on arylphosphine oxide (SPPO13) and phosphonate (TPPO) as the ETL. Benefitting from the coordination between PO and exposed Pb atoms, in situ interfacial passivation occurs during the solution deposition of SPPO13 or TPPO on PeQDs. As a result, bilayer films (PeQDs/ETL) exhibit improved photoluminescence quantum yields and prolonged lifetimes compared with single layer PeQDs. Correspondingly, all-solution-processed PeQLEDs are fabricated successfully via an orthogonal solvent strategy, revealing bright green emission with a promising current efficiency of 24.1 cd A-1 (12.1 lm W-1, 6.47%) and CIE coordinates of (0.12, 0.79).

Highly Efficient All-Solution-Processed Fluorescent Organic Light-Emitting Diodes Based on a Novel Self-Host Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitter. Abstract
Here, we conveniently designed and synthesized a self-host thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter, which can not only form a uniform thin film through wet-process, but also allow the subsequently deposition of electron transporting layer (ETL) by orthogonal solvent. By using this self-host material as emitter, the all-solution-processed multilayer TADF organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) was successfully fabricated. The maximum current, power and external quantum efficiencies of this nondoped device are 46.3 cd A-1, 39.3 lm W1- and 15.5%, respectively, which are much higher than the values of all-solution-processed OLEDs based on tranditional fluorescence and even comparable to the TADF devices with vacuum-deposited ETL. Moreover, the device maintains the high efficiency of 42.9 cd A-1 and 39.0 cd A-1 at the luminance of 100 cd m-2 for display and 1000 cd m-2 for practical lighting. The high efficiency and small efficiency roll-off of the all-solution-processed fluorescent OLEDs can be attributed to the superiority of the newly designed self-host TADF emitter, which possesses the perfect electroluminescent property and sufficient solvent resistance at the same time.
