Abstract
Over the past few decades, there have been major developments in transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric cyclization reactions, enabling the convenient access to a wide spectrum of structurally diverse chiral carbo- and hetero-cycles, common skeletons found in fine chemicals, natural products, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials. In particular, a plethora of enantioselective cyclization reactions have been promoted by chiral palladium catalysts owing to their outstanding features. This review aims to collect the latest advancements in enantioselective palladium-catalyzed cyclization reactions over the past eleven years, and it is organized into thirteen sections depending on the different types of transformations involved.

Abstract
The proton of alcohols as the sole hydrogen source in diboron-mediated nickel-catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of cyclic N-sulfonyl imines has been developed, providing the chiral cyclic sulfamidates in excellent enantioselectivities. The mechanistic investigations suggested that the proton of alcohols could be activated by tetrahydroxydiboron to form active nickel hydride species.

Abstract
Direct asymmetric reductive amination is one of the most efficient methods for the construction of chiral amines, in which the scope of the applicable amine coupling partners remains a significant challenge. In this study we describe primary alkyl amines effectively serve as the N-sources in direct asymmetric reductive amination catalyzed by the iridium precursor and sterically tunable chiral phosphoramidite ligands. The density functional theory studies of the reaction mechanism imply the alkyl amine substrates serve as a ligand of iridium strengthened by a (N)H-O(P) hydrogen-bonding attraction, and the hydride addition occurs via an outer-sphere transition state, in which the Cl-H H-bonding plays an important role. Through this concise procedure, cinacalcet, tecalcet, fendiline and many other related chiral amines have been synthesized in one single step with high yields and excellent enantioselectivity. Direct asymmetric reductive amination is one of the most efficient methods for obtaining chiral amines. Here the authors show how primary alkyl amines can undergo this transformation in the presence of an iridium catalyst with sterically tuneable chiral phosphoramidite ligands, achieving the synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds.

Abstract
A simple and mild photoredox catalytic approach to access difluoroalkylated dioxodibenzothiazepines in high regioselectivity via radical cascade cyclization has been described herein. In contrast to previous methods, this strategy does not involve the use of transition-metal catalysts and avoids the potential disadvantages of inevitable toxicity and the tedious removal process of metal catalysts. The commercially available and inexpensive CF2 precursors, wide substrate scope, and mild reaction conditions demonstrate the practicability of this approach.

Abstract
ϵ-Benzosultam derivatives are potential drug candidates with diverse biological activities. A series of chiral ϵ-benzosultams bearing phosphorus functionalities was synthesized by catalytic asymmetric hydrophosphonylation in the presence of a bifunctional phosphonium salt catalyst. The desired hydrophosphonylation products were obtained in good yields with high enantioselectivities, and scale-up reactions and further derivations were successfully accomplished. Some control experiments were also conducted to elucidate the plausible reaction mechanism of this chemical transformation.

Abstract
Through superacid activation, N-(arenesulfonyl)-aminoalcohols derived from readily available ephedrines or amino acids undergo an intramolecular Friedel-Crafts reaction to afford enantiopure benzosultams bearing two adjacent stereocenters in high yields with fully controlled diastereoselectivity. Low-temperature NMR spectroscopy demonstrated the crucial role played by the conformationally restricted chiral dicationic intermediates.

Abstract
Chiral ε-sultams, with their unique strain cyclic structure, are a type of molecule with important biological activities. A facile enantioselective aza-Friedel-Crafts reaction of seven-membered cyclic N-sulfonylimines with naphthols was developed with a cinchona alkaloid-based bifunctional organocatalyst, giving chiral ε-sultams with an enantiomeric excess of up to 92%.

Abstract
The secondary amine participating asymmetric reductive amination remains an unsolved problem in organic synthesis. Here we show for the first time that secondary amines are capable of effectively serving as N-sources in direct asymmetric reductive amination to afford corresponding tertiary chiral amines with the help of a selected additive set under mild conditions (0-25 °C). The applied chiral phosphoramidite ligands are readily prepared from BINOL and easily modified. Compared with common tertiary chiral amine synthetic methods, this procedure is much more concise and scalable, as exemplified by the facile synthesis of rivastigmine and N-methyl-1-phenylethanamine.

Abstract
The asymmetric direct reductive amination of prochiral ketones with aryl amines using 1-hydrosilatrane with a chiral Brønsted acid catalyst is reported. This is the first known example of chiral Brønsted acid-catalyzed asymmetric reductive amination using a silane as the hydride source. The reaction features a highly practical reducing reagent and proceeds efficiently at room temperature without a specialized reaction setup or equipment to exclude air or moisture. This method provides high conversion and enantiomeric excess up to 84% of the desired chiral secondary amines with minimal side products.

Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of dibenz[c,e]azepines containing both central and axial chiralities through a one pot N-Boc deprotection/intramolecular asymmetric reductive amination sequence has been achieved with generally excellent enantiocontrol (up to 97% ee).
An Ir-catalyzed intramolecular asymmetric reductive amination (ARA) of bridged biaryl derivatives has been described. Using this unprecedented approach, synthetically useful dibenz[c,e]azepines containing both central and axial chiralities are obtained with excellent enantiocontrol (up to 97% ee). This methodology represents a rare example of enantioselective chemocatalytic synthesis of chiral dibenz[c,e]azepines featuring a broad substrate scope, and their synthetic utilities are exhibited by derivatizing the products into a chiral amino acid derivative and chiral phosphoramidite ligands, which display excellent enantiocontrol in Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of α-dehydroamino acid derivatives. Remarkably, our method is also applicable to enantioselectively synthesize an allocolchicine analogue.

Abstract
The development of a boron/nitrogen-centered frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) with remarkably high water tolerance is presented. As systematic steric tuning of the boron-based Lewis acid (LA) component revealed, the enhanced back-strain makes water binding increasingly reversible in the presence of relatively strong base. This advance allows the limits of FLP's hydrogenation to be expanded, as demonstrated by the FLP reductive amination of carbonyls. This metal-free catalytic variant displays a notably broad chemoselectivity and generality.
