Structural Diversity and Carbon Dioxide Sorption Selectivity of Zinc(II) Metal-Organic Frameworks Based on Bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methane and Terephthalic Acid

A three-component reaction between the 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic (terephthalic) acid (H₂bdc), bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methane (btrm) and zinc nitrate was studied, and three new coordination polymers were isolated by a careful selection of the reaction conditions. Coordination polymers {[Zn₃(DMF)(btrm)(bdc)₃]·nDMF}_∞ and {[Zn₃(btrm)(bdc)₃]·nDMF}_∞ containing trinuclear {Zn₃(bdc)₃} secondary building units are joined by btrm auxiliary linkers into three-dimensional metal–organic frameworks. The coordination polymer {[Zn(bdc)(btrm)]∙nDMF}_∞ consists of Zn²⁺ cations joined by bdc²⁻ and btrm linkers into a two-fold interpenetrated network. Upon activation, MOF [Zn₃(btrm)(bdc)₃]_∞ demonstrated CO₂/N₂ adsorption selectivity with an ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) factor of 21. All three MOF demonstrated photoluminescence with a maximum near 435–440 nm upon excitation at 330 nm.

The first coordination polymers with an [O]2[N]P(S)-Hg segment: a combined experimental, theoretical and database study

The study of one-dimensional coordination polymers {Hg₂Cl₄L₁}_n (1), {HgBr₂L₁}_n (2) and {Hg₂Cl₄L₂}_n (3) (L₁ = (S)P(OC₂H₅)₂NHC₆H₄NHP(S)(OC₂H₅)₂ and L₂ = (S)P(OC₂H₅)₂NC₄H₈NP(S)(OC₂H₅)₂) is the first such structural study of Hg(ii) coordination polymers with (O)₂(N)PS-based ligands. The mercury atoms adopt a distorted trigonal pyramidal environment, Hg(Cl)₃(S) for 1 and 3 and Hg(Br)₂(S)₂ for 2, and the difference observed in the stoichiometry of mercury halide to the thiophosphoramide ligand in 1 and 3 with respect to the one in 2 is a result of the formation of the Hg₂Cl₂ ring, however, the molar ratio 2 : 1 of HgX₂ (X = Cl and Br) to ligand was used for the preparation of all three complexes. The strengths of mercury-sulfur and mercury-halide covalent bonds are evaluated by theoretical calculations (QTAIM and NBO) which show their principally electrostatic nature with a partial covalent contribution. The energies of interactions building supramolecular assemblies and intramolecular interactions, i.e. NHCl, NHBr, CHCl, CHBr, CHO, CHS and CHπ, are theoretically evaluated. The characteristic structural features arising from the aromatic/aliphatic linkers in the ligands and chloride/bromide attached to mercury are investigated by Hirshfeld surface analysis and fingerprint plots.

New Cu(II)-bearing coordination polymer: Crystal structure, molecular docking, and protective activity on coronary heart disease by reducing ROS production

A novel chain-like coordination polymer [CuLCl2(DMF)]n (1) with helical double chains was synthesized using flexible bis(pyridylurea) ligand 1,1[Formula: see text]-[oxybis(2,1-phenylene)] bis(3-pyridin-3-ylurea) (L) under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis. A green grinding processing method was used to produce the required complex 1 nanorods, which featured good water dispersibility. The protective effect of the compound was evaluated in vivo, following the construction of the coronary heart disease (CHD) rat model and nano 1 treatment. The cardiac function promoted by nano 1 was measured using the left ventricular systolic diameter (LVID) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). The anti-oxidative activity of nano 1 was determined with an ROS detection kit. In addition, the interaction between the Cu(II) complex with protein NF-[Formula: see text]B was examined by molecular docking.

Passing it up the ranks: hierarchical ion-size dependent supramolecular response in 1D coordination polymers

The synthesis and structural characterisations of four 1D coordination polymers based on the 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (H₃btb) and 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (2-tpt) ligands are reported: [M^II(Hbtb)(2-tpt)]·xDMF, M = Zn (1), Ni (2), Mn (3) and Cd (4).
