Abstract
Based on first-principles calculations, we propose van der Waals (vdW) heterojunctions composed of one-dimensional carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and two-dimensional GeSe. Our calculations show that (n,0)CNT/GeSe (n = 5-11) heterojunctions are stable through weak vdW interactions. Among these heterojunctions, (n,0)CNT/GeSe (n = 5-7) exhibit metallic properties, while (n,0)CNT/GeSe (n = 8-11) have a small bandgap, lower than 0.8 eV. The absorption coefficient of (n,0)CNT/GeSe (n = 8-11) in the ultraviolet and infrared regions is around 105 cm-1. Specifically, we found that (11,0)CNT/GeSe exhibits type-II band alignment and has a high photoelectric conversion efficiency of 17.29%, which suggests prospective applications in photoelectronics.

Abstract
Carbon nanotubes (CNT)-cerium oxide (CeO2) nanocomposites were fabricated successfully by one-pot microwave hydrothermal growth of regular CeO2 nanoparticles with a size of 8 nm on hydroxyl-functionalized multi-walled CNTs. These nanocomposite photocatalysts demonstrated an acid orange (AO7) photocatalytic degradation efficiency of above 90% under solar-simulated light irradiation for 3 h, which was much higher than that of the pure CeO2 nanoparticles. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was observed to mainly originate from the ˙O2- and hole traps, while the hydroxyl radical ˙OH played a secondary role.

Abstract
One-dimensional (1D)/2D heterostructures have attracted great attention in electronic and optoelectronic fields because of their unique geometrical structures and rich physics. Here, we systematically explore electronic structure and optical performance of single-wall carbon nanotube (CNT)/phosphorene (BP) hybrids by large-scale density functional theory (DFT) computation. The results show that the interfacial interaction between CNT and BP is a weak van der Waals (vdW) force and correlates with tube diameter of CNTs. The CNT/BP hybrids have strong optical absorption compared with that of individual BP and CNT. A diameter-dependent type I or II heterojunction in CNT/BP hybrids is observed. Moreover, CNTs can not only significantly promote photogenerated carrier transfer, but also effectively improve the photocatalytic activities of BP as a co-catalyst. These findings would enrich our understanding of BP-based 1D/2D heterostructures, providing further insight into the design of highly efficient phosphorene-based or CNT-based nanophotocatalysts.
