Abstract
In the last few decades, reticular chemistry has grown significantly as a field of porous crystalline molecular materials. Scientists have attempted to create the ideal platform for analyzing distinct anions based on optical sensing techniques (chromogenic and fluorogenic) by assembling different metal-containing units with suitable organic linking molecules and different organic molecules to produce crystalline porous materials. This study presents novel platforms for anion recognition based on reticular chemistry with high selectivity, sensitivity, electronic tunability, structural recognition, strong emission, and thermal and chemical stability. The key materials for reticular chemistry, Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks (ZIFs), and Covalent-Organic Frameworks (COFs), and the pre- and post-synthetic modification of the linkers and the metal oxide clusters for the selective detection of the anions, have been discussed. The mechanisms involved in sensing are also discussed.

Abstract
Accurate on-site profiling of the pollutants is of vital significance for estimating environmental pollution. Herein, we propose a paper-based fluorescence-sensing system to precisely report the level of multiple pollutants. A high-performance fluorescence-sensor for apparatus-free and visual on-site tandem precisely reporting phosphate ions (Pi), o-phenylenediamine (OPD), and benzaldehyde (BA) levels have been fabricated successfully by introducing synthesized red emission (>600 nm) fluorescent chromophore 10-(diethylamino)-3-hydroxy-5,6-dihydrobenzo [c]xanthen-12-ium (HTD) into the environment of CoZn zeolitic imidazolate framework (CoZn ZIF) by a simple stirring method. CoZn ZIF@HTD with the bimetallic nodes not merely provided main Zn2+ sites for specific recognition of Pi to generate an enhanced red fluorescent optical signal, Co3+/Co2+ exhibited excellent peroxidase-like activity for the catalytic oxidation of OPD substrate in the presence of H2O2 resulting in color changing from red to yellow. Subsequently, the obvious yellow fading of the OPDox species took place with the addition of BA. By virtue of the sensitively visual tandem detection of Pi, OPD, and BA, the sensor can be applied to real wastewater samples. Meanwhile, this fluorescent sensor was further adopted for practical application in confocal cell imaging and security inks. Overall, this work established a fluorescent sensing system with integrated multifunctional applications for environmental and biological samples, implying the great potential for simultaneous real-time cascade detection of various important pollutants with the merit of low-cost, time-saving, and easy-to-use.

Abstract
A new polydentate tetracarboxylic acid with a benzothiadiazole unit (4',4'''-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)bis([1,1'-biphenyl]-3,5-dicarboxylic acid), H4BTDBA) has been used to prepare a pH-stable three-dimensional TbIII-based metal-organic framework (MOF) with the formula {[(CH3)2NH2]0.7[Tb2(BTDBA)1.5(lac)0.7(H2O)2]·solvents}n (Hlac = lactic acid, JXUST-19). JXUST-19 exhibits a new (4,4,12)-connected topology based on tetranuclear [Tb4] clusters. JXUST-19 can remain stable when soaked in water for at least 1 week and in aqueous solutions with various pH values (2-12) for 24 h. Fluorescence study indicates JXUST-19 can be employed as a rare turn-on and blue-shift MOF sensor toward benzaldehyde (BZ) and salicylaldehyde (SA). To date, JXUST-19 represents the first TbIII-based turn-on MOF sensor toward salicylaldehyde in aqueous solution, and the fluorescence enhancement and naked-eye detection of BZ have been rarely reported. In addition, JXUST-19 based fluorescent test papers, light-emitting diode lamp beads, and portable composite films were developed to realize naked-eye detection of BZ and SA, which has great potential in practical applications.

Abstract
Abstract
Heterometallic carboxylate complexes are of paramount interest in pure and applied coordination chemistry. Despite that plurality of such type compounds have been published to date, synthetic aspects of their chemistry often remain in the shadow of intriguing physical properties manifesting by these species. Present review summarizes reliable data on direct synthesis of low nuclearity molecular compounds as well as coordination polymers on their base with carboxylate-bridged {M2Mg} (M = Co2+, Ni2+, Cd2+), {M2Li2} (M = Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, VO2+), {M2Ln2} and {M2Ln} (M = Cu2+, Zn2+, Co2+) metal cores. Structural features and stabilization factors are considered and principal outcomes are confirmed by quantum-chemical calculations. Particular attention is paid to consideration of ligand-exchange reactions that allow controllable modification of heterometallic metal core under mild conditions giving diverse molecular complexes with modified ligand environment or Metal-Organic Frameworks with permanent porosity.

Abstract
In this work a unique hetero-metallic alkaline earth-transition Ba-Cd luminescent micro-porous metal-organic framework {[BaCd(μ6-tp)1.5(μ2-Cl)(H2O) (DMF)2]·0.75H2O}n (H2tp=terephthalic acid) (1) has been prepared under solvo-thermal conditions. In 1 infinite 1D {Ba-X-Cd} (X=O, Cl) inorganic chains are linked via these full de-pronated tp2- ligands forming a unique 3D I1O2 type micro-porous coordination framework. PXRD patterns of 1 have been determined confirming pure phases of 1. Luminescence investigations suggested that 1 exhibits highly selective and sensitive sensing for trace amounts of benzaldehyde in ethanol, which provides a facile method for real-time detection of benzaldehyde. Meanwhile 1 also exhibits highly selective and sensitive sensing for Cu2+ over other cations with high quenching efficiency Ksv value 1.15×104L·mol-1. As far as we know, 1 represents the first example of alkaline earth-transition hetero-metallic Ba-Cd micro-porous coordination framework as bi-functional luminescent probes for Cu2+ and benzaldehyde.

Subhan MA, Chandra Saha P, Sumon SA, Ahmed J, Asiri AM, Rahman MM, Al-Mamun M. Enhanced photocatalytic activity and ultra-sensitive benzaldehyde sensing performance of a SnO2·ZnO·TiO2 nanomaterial. RSC Adv 2018; 8:33048-33058. [PMID: 35548107 PMCID: PMC9086338 DOI: 10.1039/c8ra05182h] [Citation(s) in RCA: 25] [Impact Index Per Article: 4.2] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 06/16/2018] [Accepted: 09/11/2018] [Indexed: 11/27/2022] Open
Abstract
The synthesis of a ternary SnO2·ZnO·TiO2 nanomaterial (NM) by a simple co-precipitation method and its potential applications as an efficient photocatalyst and chemical sensor have been reported. The synthesized nanomaterial was fully characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, XPS, FTIR, AFM and photoluminescence studies. This nanomaterial exhibited enhanced efficiency in photo-catalysis of Methyl Violet 6b (MV) dye degradation. The observed photocatalyst efficiency of the SnO2·ZnO·TiO2 nanomaterial was 100% under UV light at pH 9. Moreover, it lost around 12% efficiency over five reuses. The PL properties with changing excitation energy were also reported. Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with the SnO2·ZnO·TiO2 nanomaterial by an efficient electrochemical technique to develop a chemical sensor for selective benzaldehyde. Hazardous benzaldehyde was carefully chosen as a target analyte by a selectivity study; it displays a rapid response towards the SnO2·ZnO·TiO2/Nafion/GCE sensor probe in electrochemical sensing. It also shows superb sensitivity, an ultra-low detection limit, long-term stability, and very good repeatability and reproducibility. In this study, a linear calibration plot was obtained for 0.1 nM to 1.0 mM aqueous benzaldehyde solutions, with a sensitivity value of 4.35 nA μM−1 cm−2 and an exceptionally low detection limit (LOD) of 3.2 ± 0.1 pM (S/N = 3). Hence, a chemical sensor modified with SnO2·ZnO·TiO2/GCE may be a promising sensor in the determination of toxic chemicals in the environmental and healthcare fields. Schematic of a GCE fabricated with SnO2·ZnO·TiO2 NMs/Nafion/GCE using a conducting Nafion binder and its electrochemical response as a benzaldehyde sensor.![]()
