Abstract
Cancer affects a major part of the worldwide population, and, to minimize deaths, the diagnosis in the early stages of the disease is fundamental. Thus, to improve diagnosis and treatment new potential spectroscopic probes are crucial. Benzothiazole derivates present antitumor properties and are highly selective and interact strongly with the enzyme phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), which was associated with cell proliferation and breast cancer cells. In this paper, the rhenium shielding tensors (187Re(σ)) and hydrogen and carbon chemical shifts (1H(δ) and 13C(δ)) of the Re(CO)3(NNO) complex conjugated with 2-(4'-aminophenyl)benzothiazole (ReABT) were evaluated. A statistical HCA model was used to analyze the best DFT protocol to compute σ and δ values and to evaluate the relativistic effects, both in the basis set and Hamiltonian as well as the functionals M06L or PBE0. The best protocol was applied to obtain 187Re(σ) of the ReABT complex in different environments (gas phase, solution, and in the active site of the PI3K enzyme). The results point out that 187Re(σ) values of the ReABT complex change significantly when the complex is docked in the PI3K enzyme.

Abstract
A novel proof-of-concept is reported to modify the water solubility and potential biological effects of a bis(diphenylphosphino)alkylamine (PNP) ligand and the corresponding metal complex, by introducing an amine group on the outer periphery of the pendant ligand arm. Thus, a tertiary butoxycarbonyl protected N'-Boc-ethylenediamine-N,N-bis(diphenylphosphino) (N'-Boc-PNP) ligand (1) was synthesized by reacting the protected ethylenediamine and chlorodiphenylphosphine in a 1 : 2 molar ratio. The corresponding fac-[Re(CO)3(N'-Boc-PNP)Br] (1A) complex was then obtained by reacting N'-Boc-PNP (1) with (Et4N)2fac-[Re(CO)3Br3] in equimolar amounts in DCM at 50 °C. De-protection of the N'-Boc pendant amine group in 1A with TFA leads to fac-[Re(NH3+-PNP)(CO)3Br]·CF3COO- (1B) which is soluble in D2O (>0.05 M). Treating 1B with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 yields fac-[Re(NH2-PNP)(CO)3Br]·MeOH (1C) in near quantitative yield. Although both 1A and 1C are not soluble in D2O, addition of TFA easily generates 1B (31P NMR), confirming the formation of the protonated amine. Isolation of fac-[99Tc(CO)3(N-Boc-PNP)(Cl)] (1D) confirmed that the rhenium and technetium (99Tc) can be easily interchanged in this process. Reported are hence the unique rhenium series of compounds 1A, 1B and 1C and the corresponding technetium complex 1D, unequivocally characterized by single crystal XRD, as well as IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Preliminary antimicrobial evaluation indicates that ligand 1 and its respective rhenium complexes (1A-1C) were not active against selected fungi (Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans) and bacteria (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus). These types of ligands and complexes therefore present themselves as excellent radio models for further evaluation using 186Re, 188Re and 99mTc to potentially study the radiotoxicity of appropriately designed complexes.

Abstract
The reaction of rhenium α-diimine (N-N) tricarbonyl complexes with nitrosonium tetrafluoroborate yields the corresponding dicarbonyl-nitrosyl [Re(CO)2(NO)(N-N)X]+ species (where X = halide). The complexes, accessible in a single step in good yield, are structurally nearly identical higher charge congeners of the tricarbonyl molecules. Substitution chemistry aimed at the realization of equivalent dicationic species (intended for applications as potential antimicrobial agents), revealed that the reactivity of metal ion in [Re(CO)2(NO)(N-N)X]+ is that of a hard Re acid, probably due to the stronger π-acceptor properties of NO+ as compared to those of CO. The metal ion thus shows great affinity for π-basic ligands, which are consequently difficult to replace by, e.g., σ-donor or weak π-acids like pyridine. Attempts of direct nitrosylation of α-diimine fac-[Re(CO)3]+ complexes bearing π-basic OR-type ligands gave the [Re(CO)2(NO)(N-N)(BF4)][BF4] salt as the only product in good yield, featuring a stable Re-FBF3 bond. The solid state crystal structure of nearly all molecules presented could be elucidated. A fundamental consequence of the chemistry of [Re(CO)2(NO)(N-N)X]+ complexes, it that the same can be photo-activated towards CO release and represent an entirely new class of photoCORMs.

Abstract
Several Re(i)pyca conjugates incorporating long aliphatic amines have been synthesized through a one-pot methodology. The compounds have been fully characterized, and seven compounds have been structurally elucidated by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The C14 variant was probed as a potential organometallic IR dye. Large unilamellar vesicles were generated with DOPC and the C14 compound and we observed incorporation of the rhenium complex as observed by FTIR microscopy.

Abstract
The synthesis and crystal structures of two new rhenium(I) complexes obtained utilizing benzhydroxamic acid (BHAH) and 3-hydroxyflavone (2-phenylchromen-4-one, FlavH) as bidentate ligands, namely tetraethylammonium fac-(benzhydroxamato-κ2O,O')bromidotricarbonylrhenate(I), (C8H20N)[ReBr(C7H6NO2)(CO)3], 1, and fac-aquatricarbonyl(4-oxo-2-phenylchromen-3-olato-κ2O,O')rhenium(I)-3-hydroxyflavone (1/1), [Re(C15H9O3)(CO)3(H2O)]·C15H10O3, 3, are reported. Furthermore, the crystal structure of free 3-hydroxyflavone, C15H10O3, 4, was redetermined at 100 K in order to compare the packing trends and solid-state NMR spectroscopy with that of the solvate flavone molecule in 3. The compounds were characterized in solution by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and in the solid state by 13C NMR spectroscopy using the cross-polarization magic angle spinning (CP/MAS) technique. Compounds 1 and 3 both crystallize in the triclinic space group P-1 with one molecule in the asymmetric unit, while 4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121. Molecules of 1 and 3 generate one-dimensional chains formed through intermolecular interactions. A comparison of the coordinated 3-hydroxyflavone ligand with the uncoordinated solvate molecule and free molecule 4 shows that the last two are virtually completely planar due to hydrogen-bonding interactions, as opposed to the former, which is able to rotate more freely. The differences between the solid- and solution-state 13C NMR spectra of 3 and 4 are ascribed to inter- and intramolecular interactions. The study also investigated the potential labelling of both bidentate ligands with the corresponding fac-99mTc-tricarbonyl synthon. All attempts were unsuccessful and reasons for this are provided.

Abstract
A series of Ni(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes with the Schiff base derived from the condensation 1:1 from pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde and 5,6-diamino-1,3-dimethyluracil (6-amino-1,3-dimethyl-5-[(pyridin-2-ylmethylidene)-amino]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione, DAAUPic) were synthesized and subsequently characterized by means of elemental analysis, FT-IR, NMR and nine of them by X-ray diffraction. Except the [Zn(μ-O,O'-AcO)(N5,N6,N1F-DAAUPicH-1)]2 and [Cd(O,O'-NO3)(μ-O4,(N5,N6,N1F)-DAAUPicH-1)(H2O)]2·2H2O dimers and the [Cd(μ-S,N-SCN)(N5,N6,N1F-DAAUPicH-1)]n chain-like polymer, all of them display monomeric molecular structures. The anticancer activity of compounds was also explored studying their effects on renin-angiotensin system (RAS)-regulating aminopeptidases on estrogen-dependent and triple negative breast cancer cell lines. At the concentrations used, some of the complexes showed different effects on (RAS) peptidases, which support the idea that their effects on cell growth/proliferation could be related to autocrine/paracrine regulatory functions of their corresponding peptide substrates.
