Abstract
Isolated clusters are ideal systems for tailoring molecule-based magnets and investigating the evolution of magnetic order from microscopic to macroscopic regime. We have prepared pure Fen- (n = 7-31) clusters and observed their gas-collisional reactions with oxygen in a flow tube reactor. Interestingly, only the larger Fen- (n ≥ 15) clusters support the observation of O2-intake, while the smaller clusters Fen- (n = 7-14) are nearly nonreactive. What is more interesting is that Fe17O10- shows up with prominent abundance in the mass spectra indicative of its distinct inertness. In combination with DFT calculations, we unveil the stability of Fe17O10- within an interesting acordion-like structure and elucidate the spin accommodation in such a strongly ferromagnetic iron cluster oxide.

Abstract
The increase in antibiotic resistance rates has attracted the interest of researchers for antibacterial compounds capable of potentiating the activity of conventional antibiotics. Coumarin derivatives have been reported to develop effective antibacterials with possible new mechanisms of action for treating infectious diseases caused by bacteria with a profile of drug resistance. In this context, the aim of the present study we have now prepared one variety of new synthetic coumarins evaluating the pharmacokinetic and chemical similarity in silico, their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) and Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), and potential for the modulation of antibiotic resistance against Staphylococcus aureus (SA10) and Escherichia coli (EC06) clinical isolate bacteria by in vitro assay. The antibacterial activity and antibiotic-enhancing properties were evaluated by the broth microdilution method and pharmacokinetically characterized according to the Lipinsk rule of 5 and had their similarity analyzed in databases such as ChemBL and CAS SciFinder. The results demonstrated that only compound C13 showed significant antibacterial activity (MIC ≤256 μg/mL), and all other coumarins did not display relevant antibacterial activity (MIC ≥1024 μg/mL). However, they did modulate the antibiotics activities to norfloxacin and gentamicin, except, compound C11 to norfloxacin against Staphylococcus aureus (SA10). The in silico properties prediction and drug-likeness results demonstrated that all coumarins presented a good drug-likeness score with no violations and promising in silico pharmacokinetic profiles showing that they have the potential to be developed into an oral drug. The results indicate that the coumarin derivatives showed good in vitro antibacterial activity. These new coumarin derivatives also demonstrated the capacity to modulate antibiotic resistance with potential synergy action for current antimicrobials assayed, as antibiotic adjuvants, to reduce the emergence of antimicrobial resistance.

Abstract
The synthesis, structure, and magnetic properties of three related iron(III)-oxo clusters are reported, [Fe7O3(O2CPh)9(mda)3(H2O)] (1), [Fe22O14(OH)3(O2CMe)21(mda)6](ClO4)2 (2), and [Fe24O15(OH)4(OEt)(O2CMe)21(mda)7](ClO4)2 (3), where mdaH2 is N-methyldiethanolamine. 1 was prepared from the reaction of [Fe3O(O2CPh)6(H2O)3](NO3) with mdaH2 in a 1:2 ratio in MeCN, whereas 2 and 3 were prepared from the reaction of FeCl3/NaO2CMe/mdaH2 in a 2:∼13:2 ratio and FeCl3/NaO2CMe/mdaH2/pyridine in a 2:∼13:2:25 ratio, respectively, both in EtOH. The core of 1 consists of a central octahedral FeIII ion held within a nonplanar Fe6 loop by three μ3-O2- and three μ2-RO- arms from the three mda2- chelates. The cores of the cations of 2 and 3 consist of an A:B:A three-layer topology, in which a central Fe6 (2) or Fe8 (3) layer B is sandwiched between two Fe8 layers A. The A layers structurally resemble 1 with the additional Fe added at the center to retain virtual C3 symmetry. The central Fe6 layer B of 2 consists of a {Fe4(μ4-O)2(μ3-OH)2}6+ cubane with an Fe on either side attached to cubane O2- ions, whereas that of 3 has the same cubane but with an {Fe3(μ3-O)(μ-OH)} unit attached on one side and a single Fe on the other. Variable-temperature dc and ac magnetic susceptibility studies revealed dominant antiferromagnetic coupling in all complexes leading to ground-state spins of S = 5/2 for 1 and S = 0 for 2 and 3. All Fe2 pairwise exchange parameters (Jij) for 1-3 were estimated by two independent methods: density functional theory (DFT) calculations using broken symmetry methods and a magnetostructural correlation previously developed for high-nuclearity FeIII/O complexes. The two approaches gave satisfyingly similar Jij values, and the latter allowed rationalization of the experimental ground states by identification of the spin frustration effects operative and the resultant relative spin vector alignments at each FeIII ion.

Abstract
A new ionic pentanuclear FeIII cluster, namely, triethylazanium tetrakis(μ2-5-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrazolido)tetrakis(μ3-4-chloro-2-{[(1H-tetrazol-1-id-5-yl)imino]methyl}phenolato)di-μ3-oxido-pentairon(III) acetonitrile monosolvate monohydrate, (C6H16N)[Fe5(C8H4ClN5O)4(CH2N5)4O2]·CH3CN·H2O, was synthesized using microvial synthesis methods and characterized by elemental analysis, FT–IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis. Magnetic studies reveal that the complex displays dominant antiferromagnetic intracluster interactions between the FeIII ions through the μ3-oxide bridges.

Abstract
Aerobic oxidation of (tmeda)Fe(CH2tBu)2 in toluene or THF solution leads to the self-assembly of a magic-sized all-ferrous oxide cluster containing the Fe9O6 subunit and bearing organometallic and diamine ligands. Mössbauer studies of the cluster are consistent with an all-ferrous assignment and magnetometry reveals complex intracluster and intercluster magnetic interactions.

Abstract
A challenge in the field of high nuclearity Fe(iii)/oxo cluster chemistry remains the development of new synthetic methods to such molecules. In this work, the employment of pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde (py-2-al) in high-nuclearity transition-metal cluster chemistry has provided access to an unprecedented decanuclear iron(iii) complex, [Fe10(NO3)7(O)6(OH0.5)2((S)-py-hemi)4((R)-py-hemi)4]·4H2O (1) ((R-/S)-py-hemi = (R-/S)-pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde hemiacetalate). The synthesis, beautiful structure and the physical characterization (thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, magnetic susceptibility) of complex 1 are described in this contribution. Complex 1 provides a new route to obtain high nuclearity magnetic clusters with beautiful structures. The employment of pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde in high-nuclearity cluster chemistry has provided access to a decanuclear iron(iii)/oxo cage in football-like structure and unusual (R-/S)-hemiacetalate ligands in butterfly-like format.![]()
