Abstract
O2, one of the ideal oxidants, suffers from low solubility, low oxidizability, low selectivity and a triplet ground state when applied in organic synthesis. Biomimetic copper catalysis has been demonstrated to be a powerful method for activating and transforming O2 to conduct aerobic reactions for a long time. On the other hand, the structures of Cu-O2 complexes are complex with diverse downstream reactions, whereas active copper intermediates were rarely identified by experimental methods, making the mechanisms of many Cu-catalyzed aerobic reactions far from clear. In this context, computational studies emerged as an effective alternative to mechanistic studies on Cu-catalyzed aerobic reactions. This review introduces the relevant computational studies since 2012, focusing on showing the cooperation of copper catalysts and O2 in dehydrogenation, oxygenation and coupling reactions.

Abstract
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to investigate the mechanism of Pd(II)-catalyzed late-stage nondirected C(sp2)-H cyanation of toluene. We confirmed the resting state and catalytic active species of this stoichiometric reaction, and we calculated the full catalytic cycle to obtain a favorable reaction pathway. The DFT calculation results indicate that the morphology of the active species is essential for the observed concerted metalation/deprotonation step. Although C-H activation is reversible in principle, it is the regioselectivity- or product-determining step. Our calculation results show that the regioselectivity is not only influenced by the electron effects but also by the potential steric repulsion interactions between the substrates and the specific geometry of the catalyst. Interestingly, the transmetalation process involves the largest overall change in free energy; thus, transmetalation is defined as the rate-determining step and turnover-determining step.

Abstract
A computational study was contributed to explore the origin of stereoselectivity of NHC-mediated cyclization reaction between benzoic acid and o-phthalaldehyde for asymmetric construction of phthalidyl ester. The most energetically favorable pathway mainly includes the following steps: (1) nucleophilic attack on carbonyl carbon of o-phthalaldehyde by catalyst NHC, (2) formation of Breslow intermediate, (3) oxidation by DQ, (4) asymmetric formation of dual C-O bonds, and (5) dissociation of catalyst with the product. The C-O bond formation was testified as the stereoselectivity-determining step, the R-configurational pathway is more energetically favorable than the S-configurational one. The non-covalent interaction (NCI) and atom-in-molecule (AIM) analyses were performed to reveal that the O-H ⋅⋅⋅ O and C-H ⋅⋅⋅ O hydrogen-bond interactions are the key factors for controlling the stereoselectivity. The detailed mechanism and origin of stereoselectivity give useful insights for understanding organocatalytic reactions for asymmetric construction of C-O bond.

Abstract
An efficient copper-catalyzed direct o-acyloxylation of 2-phenylpyridine with carboxylic acids using oxygen as the oxidant has been developed. Various acids including aromatic acids, cinnamic acids and aliphatic acids are effective acyloxylation reagents and provide the desired products in moderate to excellent yields. The reaction proceeds well under an oxygen atmosphere, making this method potentially practical. A copper catalyzed direct o-acyloxylation of 2-phenylpyridine with various carboxylic acids using oxygen as oxidant has been developed.![]()
