Abstract
Recent assessments of the correlations between food and medicine underscore the importance of functional foods in disease prevention and management. Functional foods offer health benefits beyond basic nutrition, with fresh fruits and vegetables being particularly prominent because of their rich polyphenol content. In this study, we elucidated the phytochemicals in ice plant (Mesembryanthemum crystallinum), a globally consumed vegetable, using an LC-QTOF/MS-based untargeted detection method. The phytochemicals were clustered based on their structural similarity using molecular networking and annotated using the in silico tool for network annotation propagation. To identify the bioactive compounds, eight compounds were isolated from ice plant extracts. These compounds were identified using extensive spectroscopic methods, including 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Additionally, we evaluated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of all the isolates. Among the tested compounds, three showed antioxidant activity and all eight showed anti-inflammatory activity, demonstrating the potential of ice plant as a functional food.

Abstract
Following a published synthesis of 2,6-bis(imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)pyridine (L1), treatment of α,α'-dibromo-2,6-diacetylpyridine with 2 equiv. 2-aminopyrimidine or 2-aminoquinoline in refluxing acetonitrile respectively gives 2,6-bis(imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-yl)pyridine (L2) and 2,6-bis(imidazo[1,2-a]quinolin-2-yl)pyridine (L3). Solvated crystals of [Fe(L1)2][BF4]2 (1[BF4]2) and [Fe(L2)2][BF4]2 (2[BF4]2) are mostly high-spin, although one solvate of 1[BF4]2 undergoes thermal spin-crossover on cooling. The iron coordination geometry is consistently distorted in crystals of 2[BF4]2 which may reflect the influence of intramolecular, inter-ligand N⋯π interactions on the molecular conformation. Only 1 : 1 Fe : L3 complexes were observed in solution, or isolated in the solid state; a crystal structure of [FeBr(py)2L3]Br·0.5H2O (py = pyridine) is presented. A solvate crystal structure of high-spin [Fe(L4)2][BF4]2 (L4 = 2,6-di{quinolin-2-yl}pyridine; 4[BF4]2) is also described, which exhibits a highly distorted six-coordinate geometry with a helical ligand conformation. The iron(II) complexes are high-spin in solution at room temperature, but 1[BF4]2 and 2[BF4]2 undergo thermal spin-crossover equilibria on cooling. All the compounds exhibit a ligand-based emission in solution at room temperature. Gas phase DFT calculations mostly reproduce the spin state properties of the complexes, but show small anomalies attributed to intramolecular, inter-ligand dispersion interactions in the sterically crowded molecules.

Abstract
A NaOH-mediated sustainable synthesis of functionalized quinoxalines is disclosed via redox condensation of o-nitroamines with diols and α-hydroxy ketones. Under optimized conditions, various o-nitroamines and alcohols are well tolerated to generate the desired products in 44-99% yields without transition metals and external redox additives.

Abstract
A new method for the direct synthesis of primary and secondary amides from carboxylic acids is described using Mg(NO3)2·6H2O or imidazole as a low-cost and readily available catalyst, and urea as a stable, and easy to manipulate nitrogen source. This methodology is particularly useful for the direct synthesis of primary and methyl amides avoiding the use of ammonia and methylamine gas which can be tedious to manipulate. Furthermore, the transformation does not require the employment of coupling or activating agents which are commonly required.

Abstract
This review classifies and summarizes the past 10-15 years of advancements in the field of metal-involving (i.e., metal-mediated and metal-catalyzed) reactions of oximes. These reactions are diverse in nature and have been employed for syntheses of oxime-based metal complexes and cage-compounds, oxime functionalizations, and the preparation of new classes of organic species, in particular, a wide variety of heterocyclic systems spanning small 3-membered ring systems to macroheterocycles. This consideration gives a general outlook of reaction routes, mechanisms, and driving forces and underlines the potential of metal-involving conversions of oxime species for application in various fields of chemistry and draws attention to the emerging putative targets.

Abstract
Amides are unquestionably one of the most important functional groups in organic chemistry because of their presence in numerous interesting molecules such as peptides, pharmaceutical agents, naturally occurring molecules, proteins and alkaloids, among others. This synopsis surveys the diverse recent approaches to amide synthesis from nonactivated carboxylic acids and derivatives as well as noncarboxylic compounds, highlighting the most innovative methodologies and those that are more eco-friendly compared to traditional methods while focusing on recent developments during the past two years.
