Selective fluorescent sensing of LMOFs constructed from tri(4-pyridylphenyl)amine ligand

Three new luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs), [Zn(tppa)(ndc)] _n (1), [Cd(tppa)(oba)] _n (2), [Zn₂(tppa)(bpdc)₂] _n (3) (tppa = tri(4-pyridylphenyl)amine, ndc = 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, oba = 4,4'-oxydibenzoic acid, bpdc = 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid) have been synthesized by solvothermal method. Complexes 1 and 2 are 2-D two-fold interpenetrating structures, aligning into a 3-D structure through C-H⋯π stacking interactions, while 3 is a 5-fold interpenetrating three-dimensional structure. The internal quantum yields (IQYs) of complexes 1-3 are 32.7%, 45.7% and 24.0% (λ _ex = 365 nm), separately. Furthermore, all the complexes show different luminescence signal changes towards aromatic volatile organic compounds (AVOCs). Complex 1 exhibits a high sensitivity in the detection of both Fe³⁺ and Cr³⁺ with large quenching coefficients of K _sv 2.57 × 10⁴ M^-1 and 2.96 × 10⁴ M^-1, respectively. All these results demonstrated potential applications in chemical sensing.

A new luminescence Cd(II)-MOF (1) ([Cd₃(BTC)₂(TPT)(H₂O)₂]·4H₂O, TPT = tris(4-pyridyl)triazine, H₃BTC = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) was successfully synthesized under solvothermal conditions. 1 contains 3D framework which consist of Cd atoms and btc^3- anions with the large channels along c axis. Then, tpt ligands locate in the channels by utilizing three N atoms to bridge two Cd1 atoms and one Cd2 atom. 1 not only possesses remarkable thermal stability, but also can steadily exist in different organic solvents and various acid/base solutions (pH = 3-12). Moreover, 1 can detect 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) and chromate (CrO₄^2-/Cr₂O₇^2-) anions with high selectivity and sensitivity in water via the luminescent quenching. The detection limits of 1 for TNP and CrO₄^2-/Cr₂O₇^2- are 6.23 μM and 2.13 μM/2.87 μM. The mechanism of TNP luminescence quenching may be attributed to photoinduced electron transfer and resonance energy transfer, and CrO₄^2-/Cr₂O₇^2- quenching involves resonance energy transfer and competitive absorption of light. Additionally, 1 has the great anti-interference ability and repeatability for detecting TNP and CrO₄^2-/Cr₂O₇^2-, which can display the feasibility of this material as a stable luminescent probe in aqueous system.

Cu(ii)/Ni(ii)–organic frameworks constructed from the homometallic clusters by 5-(2-carboxyphenoxy)isophthalic acid and N-ligand: synthesis, structures and visible light-driven photocatalytic properties

Four new complexes, namely, Cu₂(O-cpia)(btb)_0.5·(OH) (1), Cu₃(O-cpia)₂(bpy)₂ (2), [Ni₂(O-cpia)(phen)·(OH)·H₂O]·2H₂O (3) and [Ni₃(O-cpia)₂(bpy)₃·2H₂O]·2H₂O (4) (O-cpia = 5-(2-carboxyphenoxy)isophthalic acid, btb = 1,4-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butane, bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine) were successfully isolated under hydrothermal conditions. The four complexes exhibit different architectures constructed from different homometallic clusters varying from mononuclear, binuclear to tetranuclear metal(ii) polyhedra as Second Building Blocks (SBUs). 1 features a 3D framework constructed from the tetranuclear clusters [Cu₄(μ₃-OH)₂] as SBUs, linked with Cu(1)O₄N and Cu(2)O₅ polyhedra by O-cpia/btb mixed linkers. 2 also exhibits a 3D structure based on trinuclear clusters [Cu₃(COO)₄] SBUs, bridged with Cu(1)O₃N₂ and Cu(2)O₄ polyhedra via O-cpia/bpy mixed ligands. 3 shows a 2D network consisting of tetranuclear clusters [Ni₄(μ₃-OH)₂] SBUs, which are bridged with Ni(1)O₄N₂ and Ni(2)O₆ through O-cpia ligands. It is worth noting that 4, with a 3D structure, is generated from the binuclear clusters [Ni₂(COO)₄] (Ni(1)O₄N) and mononuclear metal Ni(2) cores (Ni(2)O₄N₂) as SBUs, and bridged by O-cpia/bpy mixed ligands. Meanwhile, the degradation of dyes (RhB) by the complexes under visible light irradiation was studied. 1–4 are semiconducting in nature, with E_g of 1.30 eV (1), 1.78 eV (2), 2.85 eV (3) and 2.14 eV (4). Cu(ii) complexes 1 and 2 are highly efficient photocatalysts for the degradation of RhB under visible light irradiation.

Four Cu(ii)/Ni(ii)-metal–organic frameworks were constructed from different homometallic clusters by O-cpia/N-ligands. Cu(ii)-complexes show highly efficient photocatalysts for the degradation of RhB under visible light irradiation.
