Abstract
Hydrogen (H2) as a high-energy-density carrier is of great potential in the upcoming hydrogen economy. Nevertheless, H2/air mixtures are explosive at H2 concentrations above 4 v/v % and reliable and wide-concentration-range H2 sensors are thus highly desired. Here, hydrogen sensing has been developed using palladium nanoparticles of ∼11.2 nm in diameter chemically decorated on the carbon/nitrogen three-dimensional porous framework of 308 m2 g-1 in specific surface area (Pd NPs@CN 3D framework). Theoretically, the Pd NPs and CN 3D framework are used to construct the Mott-Schottky heterojunctions, in which the CN 3D framework possesses a higher work function, promoting electron transfer to Pd NPs and therefore highly active dissociation of H2. Beneficially, the Pd NPs@CN 3D framework exhibits a wide concentration range of 200 ppm (S ≈ 0.2% and Tres ≈ 15 s) to 40 v/v % (S ≈ 73.8% and Tres ≈ 9 s) H2 sensing at room temperature. Remarkably, the H2 sensor prototype built with the Pd NPs@CN 3D framework shows excellent long-term stability that maintains reliable H2 sensing after 142 days. Such stable hydrogen sensing provides an experimental basis for the wide-concentration-range detection of H2 leakage in the future hydrogen economy.

Abstract
We synthesised materials with different loadings of vanadia on fluorapatite (V2O5/FAp), fully characterised their structural properties using various spectral techniques including TEM, BET, XRD, FT-IR, SEM and EDX and assessed their prowess as catalysts. The 2.5% V2O5/FAp exhibited excellent activity for the synthesis of novel [1,3,4]thiadiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidines and benzo[4,5]thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidines. The one-pot three-component fusion reaction between chosen substrates of 1,3,4-thiadiazole-amines or 2-amino-benzothiazole, aldehydes and active methylene compounds in ethanol solvent at room temperature gave an excellent yield of products (90-97%) in a swift reaction (25-30 min). The advantages of this protocol are rapid synthesis, mild reaction conditions, green solvent, easy work-up, eco-friendliness, reusability of catalyst and no need for column chromatography.

Abstract
This personal account mainly introduces and reviews our recent contributions in developing different catalyst materials involving mixed oxides and their scope as renewable catalysts in multicomponent reactions to synthesize various novel heterocyclic scaffolds under green conditions. The application of various mixed oxides and their composites in the organic synthesis is emphasized through this review, in order to reveal the versatility, scope and importance of mixed oxides and their interactions during the reaction. We have also briefed the limitations of mixed oxides as catalysts, to put forward the broader prospective in the field.

Abstract
The detection of phosphate (Pi) under physiological conditions is a very important issue in environmental and biological sciences. Herein, a unique fluorescent probe {[EuL(H2O)1.35(DMF)0.65]·1.9DMF}n (1) was prepared through the organic-inorganic hybridization between asymmetrical tricarboxylate ligands and Eu2O2 clusters under solvothermal conditions. The as-prepared sample 1 exhibited excellent fluorescence properties and could be designed as a self-calibrating fluorescent probe for sensitively and selectively detecting Pi which served as an essential substance in aquatic ecosystems and biological systems. The different responses of the two emission peaks caused by the addition of Pi resulted in a continuous fluorescence color change, which could be clearly observed with the naked eye under UV light lamp illumination at 302 nm. Typically, a good linearity existed between the ratio of dual fluorescence intensities and the Pi contents ranging from 0.1 μM to 15 μM with a low detection limit of 52 nM (S/N = 3). It is noteworthy that the prepared self-calibrating fluorescent probe displayed specific recognition towards Pi anions with satisfactory recovery ranging from 92.8% to 100.6% in water samples and biological fluids. Thus, we can envision that this work may open a new avenue for the detection of many other bioactive ions in environmental and biological samples.
