Abstract
This work presents a novel metal-supported bilayer lipid membrane (BLM) biosensor built on tyrosinase to quantitate phenol. The detection strategy is based on the enzyme-analyte initial association and not the commonly adopted monitoring of the redox cascade reactions; such an approach has not been proposed in the literature to date and offers many advantages for environmental monitoring with regard to sensitivity, selectivity, reliability and assay simplicity. The phenol sensor developed herein showed good analytical and operational characteristics: the detection limit (signal-to-noise ratio = 3) was 1.24 pg/mL and the sensitivity was 33.45 nA per pg/mL phenol concentration. The shelf life of the tyrosinase sensor was 12 h and the lifetime (in consecutive assays) was 8 h. The sensor was reversible with bathing at pH 8.5 and could be used for eight assay runs in consecutive assays. The validation in real water samples showed that the sensor could reliably detect 2.5 ppb phenol in tap and river water and 6.1 ppb phenol in lake water, without sample pretreatment. The prospects and applicability of the proposed biosensor and the underlying technology are also discussed.

RSC Adv 2020; 10:32532-32547. Abstract
A novel electrochemical (EC) chlorobenzene (CBZ) sensor was fabricated using a ternary oxide RuO2/ZnO/TiO2 nanocomposite (NC)-decorated glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by a wet-chemical method and characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy. The synthesized RuO2/ZnO/TiO2 NC was layered as thin film on a GCE with Nafion (5% suspension in ethanol) adhesive, and the as-prepared sensor was subjected to CBZ analysis using an electrochemical approach. The calibration of the proposed CBZ sensor was executed with a linear relation of current versus concentration of CBZs known as the calibration curve. The sensitivity (32.02 μA μM−1 cm−2) of the CBZ sensor was calculated from the slope of the calibration curve by considering the active surface area of the GCE (0.0316 cm2). The lower detection limit (LD; 98.70 ± 4.90 pM) was also calculated at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3. Besides these, the response current followed a linear relationship with the concentration of chlorobenzene and the linear dynamic range (LDR) was denoted in the range of 0.1 nM to 1.0 μM. Moreover, the CBZ sensor was found to exhibit good reproducibility, reliability, stability, and fast response time. Finally, the sensing mechanism was also discussed with the energy-band theory of ternary doped semiconductor materials. The sensing activity of the proposed sensor was significantly enhanced due to the combined result of depletion layer formation at the heterojunction of RuO2/ZnO/TiO2 NCs as well as the activity of RuO2 NPs as oxidation catalysts. The proposed CBZ sensor probe based on ternary oxide RuO2/ZnO/TiO2 NCs was developed with significant analytical parameters for practical application in monitoring the environmental pollutants of CBZs for the safety of environmental fields on a large scale. A novel electrochemical (EC) chlorobenzene (CBZ) sensor was fabricated using a ternary oxide RuO2/ZnO/TiO2 nanocomposite (NC)-decorated glassy carbon electrode (GCE).![]()

Abstract
The facile hydrothermal method was used to prepare low-dimensional doped Ag2O/Sb2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) at low temperature in alkaline medium. The calcined NPs were characterized in detail by FTIR, UV/vis, FESEM, XPS, EDS, and XRD. A thin layer of Ag2O/Sb2O3 NPs was deposited onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using Nafion (5% Nafion suspension in ethanol) conducting binder, which formed the working electrode of the selective 3-methoxyphenol electrochemical sensor probe. The proposed chemical sensor exhibits high sensitivity, long-term stability, and enhanced electrochemical responses towards 3-methoxyphenol. Response to 3-methoxyphenol is linear over the concentration range (LDR) of 0.09 nM to 0.09 mM. The analytical parameters of the sensor such as sensitivity, stability, response time, linearity, LDR, robustness, selectivity etc. were evaluated by an electrochemical approach. The sensor probe fabricated with Ag2O/Sb2O3 NPs seems to be a promising candidate for effective and reliable electrochemical detection of hazardous and carcinogenic chemicals in the environment and health care fields in large scales.

Abstract
Iron oxide ornamented carbon nanotube nanocomposites (Fe3O4.CNT NCs) were prepared by a wet-chemical process in basic means. The optical, morphological, and structural characterizations of Fe3O4.CNT NCs were performed using FTIR, UV/Vis., FESEM, TEM; XEDS, XPS, and XRD respectively. Flat GCE had been fabricated with a thin-layer of NCs using a coating binding agent. It was performed for the chemical sensor development by a dependable I-V technique. Among all interfering analytes, 3-methoxyphenol (3-MP) was selective towards the fabricated sensor. Increased electrochemical performances for example elevated sensitivity, linear dynamic range (LDR) and continuing steadiness towards selective 3-MP had been observed with chemical sensor. The calibration graph found linear (R2 = 0.9340) in a wide range of 3-MP concentration (90.0 pM ~ 90.0 mM). The limit of detection and sensitivity were considered as 1.0 pM and 9×10-4 μAμM-1cm-2 respectively. The prepared of Fe3O4.CNT NCs by a wet-chemical progression is an interesting route for the development of hazardous phenolic sensor based on nanocomposite materials. It is also recommended that 3-MP sensor is exhibited a promising performances based on Fe3O4.CNT NCs by a facile I-V method for the significant applications of toxic chemicals for the safety of environmental and health-care fields.

Abstract
A facile hydrothermal process was used to prepare MnCoxOy nanoparticles (NPs) in alkaline medium (pH~10.5) at room temperature. The NPs were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV/vis), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). A thin layer of NPs film as a chemical sensor was fabricated on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with the help of a conducting binder. The sensor was implemented successfully for the detection 3,4-DAT with reliable I-V approach at low potential. The sensor-features include good sensitivity (0.37 mAµmolL-1cm-2), low detection limit (LOD=0.26±0.01 pmolL-1 at a signal to noise ratio of 3), low limit of quantification (LOQ=7.80±0.01 pmolL-1), good reliability, good reproducibility, ease of integration, and long-term stability were investigated. The sensor response towards 3,4-DAT is linear in logarithmic scale over a large concentration range (1.0 pmolL-1 to 1.0 µmolL-1). This work is introduced a route for future sensitive sensor development based on MnCoxOy NPs by reliable I-V method for the detection of hazardous and carcinogenic toxins in environmental and health care fields.
