Abstract
We disclose the heterodifunctionalization of alkynylazobenzenes promoted exclusively by visible light in the absence of any transition metal and/or photocatalyst. This reaction features excellent regioselectivity on a broad variety of substrates with perfect atom economy. Alcohols, carboxylic acids, thiols, amides, heterocycles, and even water are suitable substrates for the promotion of the oxyamination, sulfenoamination, and diamination reactions. In this manner, biologically active indazole scaffolds can be rapidly assembled from alkyne feedstocks.

Abstract
A facile methodology for the construction of a complex heterocycle indazolo-fused quinoxalinone has been developed via an Ugi four-component reaction (U-4CR) followed by an intramolecular Ullmann reaction. The expeditious process features an operationally simple approach, time efficiency, and a broad substrate scope. Biological activity was evaluated and demonstrated that compound 6e inhibits human colon cancer cell HCT116 proliferation with an IC50 of 2.1 μM, suggesting potential applications for developing a drug lead in medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
A new and efficient protocol has been demonstrated for the synthesis of benzothiadiazinoisoquinoline 6,6-dioxides and benzothiadiazinoisoindole 5,5-dioxides in good to excellent yields. These compounds are formed through a sequential Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H cyclization of dihydrophenylbenzothiadiazine 1,1-dioxides with alkynes and oxidative Heck coupling/aza-Michael addition of dihydrophenylbenzothiadiazine 1,1-dioxides with acrylates, respectively.

Abstract
A rhodium-catalyzed cyclization of azobenzenes and vinylene carbonate via C-H bond activation to construct indazolo[2,3-a]quinolines has been developed. This protocol offers an efficient method for synthesis of the titled products in good yields with broad functional group tolerance. In this reaction, three C-C bonds and C-N bond are formed in one pot, and vinylene carbonate (VC) acts as C1 and C2 synthons as well as "vinylene transfer" agent and acylation reagent in the construction of target-fused heterocycles. Moreover, the products exhibit favorable fluorescence properties, which indicate their potential application as fluorescent materials and biosensors.

Abstract
Described herein is a dirhodium(ii)-catalyzed asymmetric cycloisomerization reaction of azaenyne through a cap-tether synergistic modulation strategy, which represents the first catalytic asymmetric cycloisomerization of azaenyne. This reaction is highly challenging because of its inherent strong background reaction leading to racemate formation and the high capability of coordination of the nitrogen atom resulting in catalyst deactivation. Varieties of centrally chiral isoindazole derivatives could be prepared in up to 99 : 1 d.r., 99 : 1 er and 99% yield and diverse enantiomerically enriched atropisomers bearing two five-membered heteroaryls have been accessed by using an oxidative central-to-axial chirality transfer strategy. The tethered nitrogen atom incorporated into the starting materials enabled easy late-modifications of the centrally and axially chiral products via C–H functionalizations, which further demonstrated the appealing synthetic utilities of this powerful asymmetric cyclization. Rh(ii)-catalyzed asymmetric cycloisomerization of azaenyne through a cap-tether synergistic modulation strategy was described. Diverse centrally and axially chiral isoindazoles were prepared and directed C–H late-stage modifications were developed.![]()

Abstract
Donor and donor-donor carbenes are two important kinds of carbenes, which have experienced tremendous growth in the past two decades. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the recent development of donor and donor-donor carbene chemistry. The development of this chemistry offers efficient protocols to construct a wide variety of C-C and C-X bonds in organic synthesis. This review is organized based on the different types of carbene precursors, including diazo compounds, hydrazones, enynones, cycloheptatrienes and cyclopropenes. The typical transformations, the reaction mechanisms, as well as their subsequent applications in the synthesis of complex natural products and bioactive molecules are discussed. Due to the rapidly increasing interest in this area, we believe that this review will provide a timely and comprehensive discussion of recent progress in donor and donor-donor carbene chemistry.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have been well-established as indispensable tools in modern organic synthesis. One of the major research goals in cross-coupling area is expanding the scope of the coupling partners. In the past decade, diazo compounds (or their precursors N-tosylhydrazones) have emerged as nucleophilic cross-coupling partners in C-C single bond or C═C double bond formations in transition-metal-catalyzed reactions. This type of coupling reaction involves the following general steps. First, the organometallic species is generated by various processes, including oxidative addition, transmetalation, cyclization, C-C bond cleavage, and C-H bond activation. Subsequently, the organometallic species reacts with the diazo substrate to generate metal carbene intermediate, which undergoes rapid migratory insertion to form a C-C bond. The new organometallic species generated from migratory insertion may undergo various transformations. This type of carbene-based coupling has proven to be general: various transition metals including Pd, Cu, Rh, Ni, Co, and Ir are effective catalysts; the scope of the reaction has also been extended to substrates other than diazo compounds; and various cascade processes have also been devised based on the carbene migratory insertion. This review will summarize the achievements made in this field since 2001.
