Abstract
Aryl ketones are often used as photosensitizers and photoinitiators. Free radical intermediates have been suggested, but not confirmed, to be generated after photoirradiation. Here we found, unexpectedly, that a persistent radical was produced from di-2-pyridyl ketone after UV irradiation, which was detected by the direct ESR method. Interestingly, the persistent radical was very sensitive to oxygen and the pH of the reaction medium. A similar persistent radical was also observed from phenyl-2-pyridyl ketone, but not from 3-benzoylpyridine, 4-benzoylpyridine, and benzophenone, suggesting that the presence of a carbonyl group connected to the ortho-position of the pyridine ring is critical for such radical production. By complementary applications of ESR, HPLC, and ESI-Q-TOF-MS, the possible chemical structures of the persistent radical and final product were identified, and the possible underlying reaction mechanism was proposed. This represents the first report on UV-induced persistent radical generation from 2-pyridyl ketones, which should be of great significance for future studies.

Abstract
Odd-electron bonds, i.e., the two-center, three-electron (2c/3e), or one-electron (2c/1e) bonds, have attracted tremendous interest owing to their novel bonding nature and radical properties. Herein, complex [K(THF)6][LSn:···Sn:L] (1), featuring the first and unsupported 2c/1e Sn···Sn σ-bond with a long distance (3.2155(9) Å), was synthesized by reduction of stannylene [LSn:] (L = N,N-dpp-o-phenylene diamide) with KC8. The one-electron Sn-Sn bond in 1 was confirmed by the crystal structure, DFT calculations, EPR spectroscopy, and reactivity studies. This compound can be viewed as a stabilized radical by delocalizing to two metal centers and can readily mediate radical reactions such as C-C coupling of benzaldehyde.

Abstract
Since the seminal discovery of phenyl azide by Grieß in 1864, a variety of organic azides (R-N3) have been developed and extensively studied. The amenability of azides to a number of reactions has expanded their utility as building blocks not only in organic synthesis but also in bioorthogonal chemistry and materials science. Over the decades, it has been demonstrated that the reactions of main group compounds with azides lead to diverse N-containing main group molecules. In view of the pronounced progress in this area, this review summarizes the reactions of main group compounds with azides, emphatically introducing their reaction patterns and mechanisms. The reactions of forming inorganic nitrogen species are not included in this review.

Abstract
The reactivity of ferrocene-based N-heterocyclic tetrylenes [{Fe(η5 -C5 H4 -NSitBuMe2 )2 }E] (E=Ge, Sn, Pb) towards mesityl azide (MesN3 ) is compared with that of PPh2 -functionalised congeners exhibiting two possible reaction sites, namely the EII and PIII atom. For E=Ge and Sn the reaction occurs at the EII atom, leading to the formation of N2 and an EIV =NMes unit. The germanimines are sufficiently stable for isolation. The stannanimines furnish follow-up products, either by [2+3] cycloaddition with MesN3 or, in the PPh2 -substituted case, by NMes transfer from the SnIV to the PIII atom. Whereas [{Fe(η5 -C5 H4 -NSitBuMe2 )2 }Pb] and other diaminoplumbylenes studied are inert even under forcing conditions, the PPh2 -substituted congener forms an addition product with MesN3 , thus showing a behaviour similar to that of frustrated Lewis pairs. The germylenes of this study afford copper(I) complexes with CuCl, including the first structurally characterised linear dicoordinate halogenido complex [CuX(L)] with a heavier tetrylene ligand L.

Abstract
A tin(II) complex coordinated by a sterically demanding o-phenylenediamido ligand is synthesized. The ligand is redox-active to reach a tin(II) complex with the diiminobenzosemiquinone radial anion in the oxidation by AgPF6. The tin(II) complex reacts with a series of nosylazides (x-NO2C6H4-SO2-N3; x = o, m, or p) at -30 °C to yield the corresponding nitrene radical bound tin(II) complexes. The nitrene radical complexes exhibit C(sp3)-H activation and amination reactivity.

Abstract
As prevalent cofactors in living organisms, iron-sulfur clusters participate in not only the electron-transfer processes but also the biosynthesis of other cofactors. Many synthetic iron-sulfur clusters have been used in model studies, aiming to mimic their biological functions and to gain mechanistic insight into the related biological systems. The smallest [2Fe-2S] clusters are typically used for one-electron processes because of their limited capacity. Our group is interested in functionalizing small iron-sulfur clusters with redox-active ligands to enhance their electron storage capacity, because such functionalized clusters can potentially mediate multielectron chemical transformations. Herein we report the synthesis, structural characterization, and catalytic activity of a diferric [2Fe-2S] cluster functionalized with two o-phenylenediamide ligands. The electrochemical and chemical reductions of such a cluster revealed rich redox chemistry. The functionalized diferric cluster can store up to four electrons reversibly, where the first two reduction events are ligand-based and the remainder metal-based. The diferric [2Fe-2S] cluster displays catalytic activity toward silylation of dinitrogen, affording up to 88 equiv of the amine product per iron center.
