Abstract
Coordination polymers (CPs) are an assorted class of coordination complexes that are gaining attention for the safe and sustainable removal of organic dyes from wastewater discharge by either adsorption or photocatalytic degradation. Herein, three different coordination polymers with compositions [Ni(HL)(H2O)2·1.9H2O] (1), [Mn3(HL)(L)(μ3-OH)(H2O)(phen)2·2H2O] (2), and [Cd(HL)4(H2O)]·H2O (3) (H3L = 2-(3,5-dicarboxyphenyl)-6-carboxybenzimidazole; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal X-ray diffraction results indicated that 1 forms a 2D layer-like framework, while 2 exhibits a 3-connected net with the Schläfli symbol of (44.6), and 3 displays a 3D supramolecular network in which two adjacent 2D layers are held by π···π interactions. All three compounds have been used as photocatalysts to catalyze the photodegradation of antibiotic dinitrozole (DTZ) and rhodamine B (RhB). The photocatalytic results suggested that the Mn-based CP 2 exhibited better photodecomposition of DTZ (91.1%) and RhB (95.0%) than the other two CPs in the time span of 45 min. The observed photocatalytic mechanisms have been addressed using Hirshfeld surface analyses.

Abstract
An amine-decorated zirconium based metal organic framework (MOF) UiO-66-NH2 with rod shape morphology was synthesized by solvothermal process using 2-aminoterephthalic acid as an organic linker. Crystallinity of synthesized MOF material was confirmed with PXRD technique. MOF was employed as selective and sensitive sensor for ultra-trace detection of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) in aqueous matrix, even in coexistence with other competitive nitroaromatic analytes. High value of Stern-Volmer quenching constant Ksv (1.106 × 105 M- 1), plausible photoluminescent quenching efficiency (97.8%) and lower detection limit (0.95 µM/217ng mL- 1) ascertained extraordinary sensitivity of developed MOF for TNP. Density functional theory calculations and electrostatic interactions (i.e. ionic interaction, H-bonding and π-π interaction) indicated that electron and energy transfer processes play a key role in turn-off quenching response of UiO-66-NH2 sensor. Spiked real samples were analysed to validate the developed method, which satisfactorily established the developed MOF sensor as an efficient tool for analysis.

Abstract
Aromatic amines are important chemical intermediates that hold an irreplaceable significance for synthesizing many chemical products. However, they may react with substances excreted from human bodies to generate blood poisoning, skin eczema, and dermatitis disease and even induce cancer-causing high risks to human health and the environment. Metal tungstates have been proven to be highly efficient materials for developing various toxic gases or chemical detection sensor systems. However, the major factors of the sensors, such as sensitivity, selectivity, stability, response, and recovery times, still need to be optimized for practical technological applications. In this work, Ni-doped ZnWO4 mixed metal tungstate nanocomposite material was synthesized by the hydrothermal method and explored as a sensor for the fluorometric determination of p-nitroaniline (p-NA). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used for the elucidation of the optimized particle diameter. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to observe the surface morphological changes in the material during the solid-state reactions. The vibration modes of as-prepared samples were analyzed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The chemical bonding and oxidation states of individual elements involved in material synthesis were observed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The PL activities of the metal tungstate nanoparticles were investigated for the sensing of p-nitroaniline (p-NA). The obtained results demonstrated that ZnNiWO4 was more effective in sensing p-NA than the other precursors were by using the quenching effect. The material showed remarkably high sensitivity towards p-NA in a concentration range of 25-1000 μM, and the limit of detection (LOD) value was found to be 1.93 × 10-8 M for ZnWO4, 2.17 × 10-8 M for NiWO4, and 2.98 × 10-8 M for ZnNiWO4, respectively.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are currently popular porous materials with research and application value in various fields such as medicine and engineering. Aiming at the application of MOFs in photocatalysis, this paper mainly reviews the main synthesis methods of ZnMOFs and the latest research progress of Zn MOF-based photocatalysts to degrade organic pollutants in water, such as organic dyes. This nanomaterial is being used to treat wastewater and has proven to be very efficient because of its exceptionally large surface area and porous nature. The results show that Zn-MOFs are capable of high degradation of the above pollutants and over 90% of degradation was observed in publications. In addition, the reusability percentage was examined and studies showed that the Zn-MOF nanostructure has very good stability and can continue to degrade a high percentage of pollutants after several cycles. This review focuses on Zn-MOFs and their composites. First, the methods of synthesis and characterization of these compounds are given. Finally, the application of these composites in the process of photocatalytic degradation of dye pollutants such as methylene blue, methyl orange, crystal violet, rhodamine B, etc. is explained.

Abstract
The elaborately designed π-electron-rich fluorescent ligand 1,4-bis(1-carboxymethylene-4-imidazolyl)benzene (H2L), possessing bifunctional groups including the carboxylate groups (building units) and 4-imidazoyl groups (N-donor potential active sites) has been employed to construct fluorescent coordination polymers. A luminescent sensor, namely [Cd(L)(phen)2]·5H2O (1), was obtained, which has a one-dimensional structure. The fluorescent material shows a blue emission maximum at 457 nm with a luminescence lifetime of 488 ns and a quantum yield (QY) of 4.56%. Significantly, 1 serves as a promising multiresponsive luminescent sensor to detect trace nitroaromatic compounds (NACs) with the limits of detection (LOD) of 7.21 × 10-8, 1.85 × 10-5, and 1.15 × 10-5 mol/L for 2-nitrophenol (2-NP), 3-nitrophenol (3-NP), and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), respectively. Furthermore, CP 1 exhibits fluorescent turn-off and turn-on sensing behavior for Fe3+ and Al3+ metal ions with trace amounts of 1.05 × 10-7 and 1.13 × 10-7 mol/L, respectively. Experimental methods and theoretical calculations were employed to elucidate the sensing mechanism in detail.

Abstract
A new three-dimensional lanthanide metal-organic framework (Ln-MOF), [Eu4(L)4(H2O)8]·10H2O (1, H3L = biphenyl-3'-nitro-3,4',5-tricarboxylic acid), has been constructed via solvothermal technology and its framework has been detected by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analyses. Complex 1 with typical emission of Eu3+ ion represents dramatic luminescence quenching affect for picric acid (PA) and the linear Stern-Volmer plot was surveyed in the consistence, ranging from 0.05 to 0.15 mM (Ksv = 98,074 M- 1). Its therapeutic effect of the compound on the cerebral edema caused by cerebral hemorrhage was estimated and the mechanism was explored. Possible binding interactions have been investigated by molecular docking simulations, from which the binding interactions are identified and the carboxyl oxygens are responsible for those identified interactions.

Abstract
A pair of homologues, [Zn(Hssa)(1,4-bib)·H2O]n (1) and [Zn3(ssa)2(1,4-bib)3·4H2O]n (2), were successfully assembled using the same metals and ligands [H3ssa = 5-sulfosalicylic acid; 1,4-bib = 1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene] under solvothermal conditions. Polymer 1 is a two-dimensional (2D) sql network and polymer 2 is a three-dimensional (3D) framework. Polymer 2 can be simplified into two topology types: bct and tfc. The two polymers show significant differences in the fluorescence sensing of metal ions and proton conductivity. Their applications in detecting metal ions and proton conductivity were explored. Polymer 1 shows high sensitivity and selectivity for Fe3+, while polymer 2 can detect Hg2+ ions. The limit of detection was 1.66 μM with Fe3+ for 1 and 0.23 μM with Hg2+ for 2 in water. In addition, both 1 and 2 exhibit high water stability and proton conductivity. At 60 °C and 95% relative humidity, their conductivities were 3.45 × 10-5 and 6.26 × 10-6 S cm-1, respectively. A detailed analysis of the Hirshfeld surface and fingerprints was carried out for 1 and 2 to compare the interactions between the molecules, which is essential for analysing the relationship between their structures and material properties.

Abstract
A 2-D copper(ii)-based coordination polymer, [Cu(SCN)(hmp)]n CP (1), was crystallized via the slow evaporation method after the reaction of CuSO4·5H2O, 2-pyridinemethanol (hmpH), sodium thiocyanate and sodium hydroxide in water for functional applications. CP (1) was characterized via elemental analysis, FTIR, PXRD, magnetic, EPR, crystallographic and TGA studies. The crystal structure and EPR data confirmed a square pyramidal geometry around the Cu(ii) ions. The topological analysis revealed that CP 1 has a {6^3} point symbol with a [6.6.6] extended point symbol and 3-c net, uninodal net having hcb and Shubnikov hexagonal plane net/(6,3) type of uncommon topology. The magnetic studies suggested the strong antiferromagnetic nature of CP (1). The fluorescence sensing property of CP (1) was investigated with different nitro aromatic compounds and hazardous metal ions. CP (1) demonstrated high selectivity and sensitivity towards nitrobenzene, even in the presence of other competitive nitro aromatics. In addition, CP (1) showed excellent selectivity and sensitivity toward Fe3+ over other metal ions. The possible detection mechanisms were proposed employing UV-visible and fluorescence spectroscopy and DFT calculations. CP (1) also showed excellent recyclability towards both analytes, and its initial intensity was almost regained after several washings. Moreover, CP (1) acted as an excellent adsorbent material for natural dyes with different charges and sizes, i.e., methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO) and Rhodamine-B. Furthermore, CP (1) was utilized repeatedly for the effective adsorption of MB from wastewater without significant loss in its adsorption capacity. Hence, the present CP (1) was designed to relate coordination chemistry with various functional applications of interest.

Abstract
Two new 2D Cd(II)-based coordination polymers (CPs), viz. [Cd₂(H₂L)₂(2,2'-bipy)₂] (1) and [Cd(L)0.5(phen)·0.5H₂O] (2), have been constructed using ethylene glycol ether bridging tetracarboxylate ligand 5,5'(4,4'-phenylenebis(methyleneoxy)) diisophthalic acid (H₄L). Both CPs behaved as profound fluorescent sensor for Fe3+ ion and nitro-aromatics (NACs), specifically 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP). The stability at elevated temperature and photocatalytic behaviors of both 1 and 2 for photo-decomposition of aromatic dyes have also been explored. An attempt has been made to explore the plausible mechanism related with the decrease in fluorescence intensity of 1 and 2 in presence of NACs using theoretical calculations. Additionally, the probable mechanism of photo catalysis by 1 and 2 to photo-degrade aromatic dyes has been explained using density of states (DOS) calculations.
