Abstract
This work reports the development of novel curcuminoid-based electrochemical sensors for the detection of environmental pollutants from water. In this study, the first set of electrochemical experiments was carried out using curcumin-conjugated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-CM) for 1,4-dioxane detection. The MWCNT-CM/GCE showed good sensitivity (103.25 nA nM-1 cm-2 in the linear range 1 nM to 1 µM), with LOD of 35.71 pM and LOQ of 108.21 pM. The second set of electrochemical experiments was carried out with bisdemethoxy curcumin analog quantum dots (BDMCAQD) for hydrazine detection. The BDMCAQD/GCE exhibited good sensitivity (74.96 nA nM-1 cm-2 in the linear range 100 nM to 1 µM), with LOD of 10 nM and LOQ of 44.93 nM. Thus, this work will serve as a reference for the fabrication of metal-free electrochemical sensors using curcuminoids as the redox mediator for the enhanced detection of environmental pollutants.

Abstract
A simple hydrothermal method based on an orthogonal experimental design was used to synthesis Pt-loaded TiO2mesoporous nanoparticles in one step. The successful synthesis of Pt-loaded TiO2nanoparticles was demonstrated by various characterization methods. The effects of the modification of Pt and its explanation are described in detail by means of the test results. Through systematic gas-sensing tests, we found that the Pt-loaded TiO2nanoparticles outperform pure TiO2nanoparticles, with a high response value (S= 42.5) to 200 ppm acetone at 260 °C and with a film thickness of 0.45 mm, far superior to that of pure TiO2. The response time (8 s) and recovery time (11 s) of the material are also relatively good with excellent selectivity and long-term stability (30 days). The frequent use of acetone as an organic solution in factories and laboratories, as well as the possibility of making a preliminary diagnosis of diabetes by detecting acetone levels in exhaled gas, make this work promising for environmental monitoring and medical diagnosis.

Growth of diazonium-functionalized ZnO nanoflakes on flexible carbon cloth for electrochemical sensing of acetone in the liquid phase. RSC Adv 2023; 13:11537-11545. Abstract
Simple detection of acetone is indispensable due to its health and environmental concerns. Surface-modified electrodes are promising for the detection of acetone. In the present study, the facile fabrication of ZnO nanoflakes on carbon cloth (CC) is reported. The electrode was fabricated by decorating the CC with ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs), followed by the hydrothermal treatment and modification with diazonium salt using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) forming ZnO nanoflakes (ZnO NFs) on ZnO NPs/CC. The as-prepared ZnO/CC electrode was used for the detection of acetone at room temperature using cyclic voltammetry. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses were used for the chemical and physical characterization of the CC before and after each modification step. The obtained data manifested that ZnO NFs functionalized with diazonium salt increased the roughness of the CC surface, which was advantageous to promote the interaction between CC and acetone target. The modified sensing platform showed excellent performance in terms of the wide working range (0.1-2000 ppm) and low detection limit (0.03 ppm), making it a promising and cost-effective sensor of acetone in the liquid phase.

Abstract
In this approach, thin spikes (NSs) of ternary nano-formulated mixed CuO/MnO2/Gd2O3 were synthesized by the hydrothermal approach for efficient detection of 3-methoxyphenyl hydrazine (3-MPHyd) chemical from various environmental samples. The NSs were systematically characterized by using XPS, EDS, TEM, FTIR, UV/vis, and XRD. The fabricated NSs onto the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was successfully applied for the selective and sensitive detection of 3-MPHyd in the phosphate buffer system (PBS), which displayed the highest sensitivity, good selectivity with ultra-trace detection limit, high stability, good reproducibility, and quick response time. The real environmental samples were tested for validation from stand point of the ternary doped nanomaterials for sensing in the practical applications using by electrochemical method.

Abstract
Among oxide semiconductors, p-type Mn3O4 systems have been exploited in chemo-resistive sensors for various analytes, but their use in the detection of H2, an important, though flammable, energy vector, has been scarcely investigated. Herein, we report for the first time on the plasma assisted-chemical vapor deposition (PA-CVD) of Mn3O4 nanomaterials, and on their on-top functionalization with Ag and SnO2 by radio frequency (RF)-sputtering, followed by air annealing. The obtained Mn3O4-Ag and Mn3O4-SnO2 nanocomposites were characterized by the occurrence of phase-pure tetragonal α-Mn3O4 (hausmannite) and a controlled Ag and SnO2 dispersion. The system functional properties were tested towards H2 sensing, yielding detection limits of 18 and 11 ppm for Mn3O4-Ag and Mn3O4-SnO2 specimens, three orders of magnitude lower than the H2 explosion threshold. These performances were accompanied by responses up to 25% to 500 ppm H2 at 200 °C, superior to bare Mn3O4, and good selectivity against CH4 and CO2 as potential interferents. A rationale for the observed behavior, based upon the concurrence of built-in Schottky (Mn3O4/Ag) and p-n junctions (Mn3O4/SnO2), and of a direct chemical interplay between the system components, is proposed to discuss the observed activity enhancement, which paves the way to the development of gas monitoring equipments for safety end-uses.

Abstract
A novel multi-metal oxide nanocomposite, Ag2O·SrO·CaO, was synthesized by a facile co-precipitation method followed by calcinations. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, FESEM, EDS, TEM, FTIR spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The composite showed enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation and excellent anti-bacterial performance against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Here, the synthesized Ag2O·SrO·CaO nanomaterials were deposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in the form of a thin film to fabricate the desired electrochemical sensor and subjected to I–V analysis of 3-chlorophenol (3-CP) in a phosphate buffer solution (PBS). A calibration curve was plotted from the linear relation of current versus concentration and used to calculate the sensitivity (8.9684 μA μM−1 cm−2), linear dynamic range (LDR, 0.1 nM to 0.01 mM) and lower limit of detection (DL, 97.12 ± 4.86 pM). The analytical parameters of the sensor such as response time, reproducibility and long-term stability in the detection of 3-CP were reliable. Finally, it was used to analyze real samples collected from various environmental sources and found to be acceptable. The electrochemical detection mechanism of 3-CP in PBS buffer using the heterostructure nanocomposite Ag2O·SrO·CaO. Abstract
In situ fabrication of a sensitive electrochemical sensor using a wet-chemically prepared ternary ZnO/MgO/Cr2O3 nanofiber (NF)-decorated glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with Nafion adhesive was the approach of this study. The resultant NFs were characterized by various tools, such as powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area analysis, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV/Vis). The analytical parameters of the proposed toluene sensor were characterized as follows: good sensitivity (23.89 μA μM−1 cm−2), a lower limit of detection (LOD; 95.59 ± 1.5 pM), a limit of quantification (LOQ; 318.63 ± 2.0 pM), efficient response time (18 s), and the dynamic range (LDR) for toluene detection of 0.1 nM–0.01 mM. The real-time application of the sensor is to protect the environmental ecosystem, as well as the public health from the harmful effects of toluene. In an environmental application, the toluene sensor exhibited good reproducibility, robustness, LOD, LOQ, and good reliability, which are discussed in detail and compared to the literature. Abstract
In this study, a novel in situ choline sensor was assembled by attaching the binary Mn2O3/NiO nanoparticles (NPs) onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Initially, Mn2O3/NiO NPs were synthesized via a wet-chemical process and fully characterized via XRD, XPS, FESEM, EDS, FTIR and UV-Vis methods. The analytical performances of the choline sensor were evaluated by an electrochemical method in the phosphate buffer phase. The estimated linear dynamic range (LDR) was found to be 0.1 nM to 0.1 mM. The other analytical performances of the choline sensor, such as sensitivity (16.4557 μA μM−1 cm−2) and detection limit (5.77 ± 0.29 pM), were also calculated very carefully from the calibration plot. Overall, the choline sensor exhibited a reliable reproducibility, in situ validity, selectivity, interference effect, stability, and intra-day and inter-day performances with high accuracy in a short response time. Moreover, the probe was successfully applied to detect choline in real human, mouse and rabbit serum. This fabrication route would be a novel approach for the detection of selective biochemical sensor in the healthcare and biomedical fields. In this study, a novel in situ choline sensor was assembled by attached the binary Mn2O3/NiO nanoparticles onto glassy carbon electrode, which might be a reliable way to develop of future sensor in the field of biomedical and healthcare fields.![]()

Abstract
In this study, conducting polyaniline (PAni) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanocomposites (NCs) were synthesized for chemical sensing applications by microwave assisted reaction technique. Facile synthesis and characterization of the PAni-SiO2 nanocomposites were investigated in details and discussed in this report. For the potential application, 1,4-dioxane chemical sensor was fabricated with the PAni-SiO2 nanocomposites deposited onto glassy carbon electrode (GCE). A very thin uniform film was deposited onto GCE with nanocomposite by using conducting 5% nafion binder at room conditions. To evaluate the sensor analytical performances, a calibration plot such as current versus concentration of 1,4-dioxane was drawn and calculated the analytical parameters from the slope of calibration curve. Results are found as sensitivity (0.5934 µAµmol-1 L-2 cm-2), detection limit (16.0 ± 0.8 pmol L-1), and quantification limit (LOQ; 53.3 ± 1.5 pmol L-1) in this observation. Considering the linear region in calibration plot, the linear dynamic range of 1,4-dioxane chemical sensor was found (0.12 nmol L-1 ∼ 1.2 mmol L-1). Besides this, the proposed 1,4-dioxane chemical sensor was exhibited good reproducibility, long-term stability, high accuracy in detecting of 1,4-dioxane in real environmental samples. This research is to develop of a selective and an efficient electrochemical sensor. It might be a simple and easy way by applying electrochemical method to ensure the safe and sustainable green environment.
