Abstract
The self-assembly of cluster-based halide framework materials has been a matter of great interest but with great challenges. Herein, by exploiting hexamethylenetetramine (Hmta) with Td symmetry as a structural modifier, we successfully constructed and systematically characterized an unusual three-dimensional (3D) hybrid bromoargentate, namely K[NH4][Ag4Br6(Hmta)] (1), bearing a diamond-type [Ag4Br6(Hmta)]n2n- anionic skeleton built up from adamantane-like units of inorganic [Ag4Br6] clusters and organic Hmta ligands. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance analysis showed that the optical bandgap of the title compound was 2.68 eV, indicating a visible-light-responsive semiconductive behavior. More importantly, upon alternate light illumination, the so-designed compound exhibited remarkable photoelectric switching properties, with photocurrent densities (0.38 and 1.10 μA cm-2 for visible and full-spectrum light, respectively) that compete well with and even exceed those of some high-performance metal halide counterparts. Further theoretical calculations, including band structure, density of states, and wave functions, revealed that compound 1 has a unique valence band and conduction band distribution, rendering it with small effective masses (especially the electrons), which may be responsible for its good photoelectricity. Furthermore, in this work, Hirshfeld surface analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) studies were performed.

Abstract
The explorations of new three-dimensional (3D) microporous metal halides, especially the iodoargentate-based hybrids, and understanding of their structure-activity relationships are still quite essential but full of great challenges. Herein, with the aromatic 4,4'-dpa (4,4'-dpa = 4,4'-dipyridylamine) ligands as the structural directing agents, we solvothermal synthesized and structurally characterized a novel member of microporous iodoargentate family, namely [H2-4,4'-dpa]Ag6I8 (1). Compound 1 possesses a unique and complicated 3D [Ag6I8]n2n- anionic architecture that was built up from the unusual hexameric [Ag6I13] secondary building units (SBUs). Research on optical properties indicated that compound 1 exhibited semiconductor behavior, with an optical band gap of 2.50 eV. Under the alternate irradiation of light, prominent photoelectric switching abilities could be achieved by compound [H2-4,4'-dpa]Ag6I8, whose photocurrent densities (0.37 μA·cm-2 for visible light and 1.23 μA·cm-2 for full-spectrum) compared well with or exceeded those of some high-performance halide counterparts. Further theoretical calculations revealed that the relatively dispersed conduction bands (CBs) structures in compound 1 induced higher electron mobilities, which may be responsible for its good photoelectricity. Presented in this work also comprised the analyses of Hirshfeld surface, powder X-ray diffractometer (PXRD), thermogravimetric measurement, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDX) along with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Abstract
Lead halide perovskites and related main-group halogenido metalates offer unique semiconductor properties and diverse applications in photovoltaics, solid-state lighting, and photocatalysis. Recent advances in incorporating chiral organic cations have led to the emergence of chiral metal-halide semiconductors with intriguing properties, such as chiroptical activity and chirality-induced spin selectivity, enabling the generation and detection of circularly polarized light and spin-polarized electrons for applications in spintronics and quantum information. However, understanding the structural origin of chiroptical activity remains challenging due to macroscopic factors and experimental limitations. In this work, we present an achiral perovskite derivative [Cu2(pyz)3(MeCN)2][Bi3I11] (CuBiI; pyz = pyrazine; MeCN = acetonitrile), which exhibits remarkable circular dichroism (CD) attributed to the material's noncentrosymmetric nature. CuBiI features a unique structure as a poly-threaded iodido bismuthate, with [Bi3I11]2- chains threaded through a cationic two-dimensional coordination polymer. The material possesses a low, direct optical band gap of 1.70 eV. Notably, single crystals display both linear and circular optical activity with a large anisotropy factor of up to 0.16. Surprisingly, despite the absence of chiral building blocks, CuBiI exhibits a significant degree of circularly polarized photoluminescence, reaching 4.9%. This value is comparable to the results achieved by incorporating chiral organic molecules into perovskites, typically ranging from 3-10% at zero magnetic field. Our findings provide insights into the macroscopic origin of CD and offer design guidelines for the development of materials with high chiroptical activity.

Abstract
So far, the development of new iodoargentate-based hybrids, especially those compounds with metal complex cations, and the understanding of their structure-activity relationships have been of vital importance but full of challenges. Herein, using the in-situ-generated metal complex cations as structural directing agents, three new iodoargentate-based hybrids, namely, [Co(phen)3]Ag2PbI6 (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; 1), [Ni(5,5-dmpy)3]Ag7I9·CH3CN (5,5-dmpy = 5,5-dimethyl-2,2-bipyridine; 2) and [Co(5,5-dmpy)3]Ag5I8 (3), have been solvothermally prepared and then structurally characterized. Compound 1 represents one new heterometallic Ag-Pb-I compound characteristic of the chain-like [Ag2PbI6]n2n- anions. Compound 2 features the straight one-dimensional (1D) [Ag7I9]n2n- anionic moieties, while compound 3 contains infrequent two types of curved [Ag5I8]n3n- anions. Optical properties reveal that the title compounds exhibit interesting semiconductor behaviors with the band gaps of 1.59-2.78 eV, which endow them with good photoelectric switching performances under the alternate light irradiations. We also present their Hirshfeld surface analyses, and the theoretical studies (band structures, density of states (DOS) and partial density of states (PDOS)).

Abstract
New iodobismuthate hybrids with lanthanide complex counter cations, [Ln(DMF)8][Bi2I9] (Ln = La (1), Eu (2)) and [Tb(DMF)8]2[Bi2I9]2 (3) (DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), were prepared using solvated Ln(III) complexes formed in situ as structure-directing agents. The dimeric [Bi2I9]3- anion moieties of compounds 1-3 are aggregated by two slightly twisted BiI6 octahedra through face-sharing mode. The different crystal structures of 1-3 are due to the different I⋯I and C-H⋯I hydrogen bond interactions. Compounds 1-3 have narrow semiconducting band gaps at 2.23, 1.91 and 1.94 eV, respectively. Under Xe light irradiation, they exhibit steady photocurrent densities that are 1.81, 2.10 and 2.18 times higher than that of pure BiI3, respectively. Compounds 2 and 3 exhibited higher catalytic activities than 1 in the photodegradation of organic dyes CV and RhB, which are attributed to the stronger photocurrent response derived from the redox cycles of Eu3+/Eu2+ and Tb4+/Tb3+.

Abstract
Nine heterometallic iodobismuthates with the general formula Cat2{[Bi2M2I10}] (M = Cu(I), Ag(I), Cat = organic cation) were synthesized. According to X-ray diffraction data, their crystal structures consisted of {Bi2I10} units interconnected with Cu(I) or Ag(I) atoms through I-bridging ligands, forming one-dimensional polymers. The compounds are thermally stable up to 200 °C. Optical band gaps (Eg), estimated at room temperature via diffuse reflectance measurements, range from 1.81 to 2.03 eV. Thermally induced changes in optical behavior (thermochromism) for compounds 1-9 were recorded, and general correlations were established. The thermal dependence of Eg appears to be close to linear for all studied compounds.

Abstract
An organic-inorganic hybrid silver iodobismuthate characteristic of the infrequent [Ag2BiI6L2] cluster (L = I or I3) and with a unique Ag/Bi molar ratio (2/1), namely, [Zn(bipy)3]2Ag2BiI6(I)1.355(I3)1.645 (bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine; 1), was solvothermally synthesized, and structurally, optically, and theoretically studied. Intriguingly, compound 1 exhibited semiconductor behavior with an optical band gap of 2.33 eV, which endowed it with excellent photoelectric and photocatalytic properties. Electronic structure calculations further revealed that the relative separate conduction band (CB) and valence band (VB) in compound 1 may be responsible for the good optical activity. This study also includes the Hirshfeld surface analyses, thermogravimetric measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterization.

Abstract
Employing in situ-generated metal complexes as structural decorating agents, we, for the first time, isolated two [Co(bipy)3]3+-templated silver halobismuthate hybrids, namely [Co(bipy)3]2Ag4Bi2X16 (X = Br (1), I (2); bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine). Compounds 1 and 2 belong to the isomorphic phrases and exhibit the nonperovskite structures characteristic of the discrete [Ag4Bi2X16]6- anions. UV-vis absorption spectra analyses showed that the optical band gaps of compounds 1 and 2 are 2.40 and 1.95 eV, respectively, implying the visible light responding semiconductor properties. Moreover, under the alternate light illumination, the title compounds exhibited "on/off" photocurrent behaviors, with high photocurrent densities comparable to many metal halide hybrids. Presented in this work also involved the Hirshfeld surface analyses and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies together with the theoretical band structures, density of states, and electron wave functions.

Abstract
It is necessary to develop stable and fast multistimuli responsive materials due to the growing demand in our daily life. In this work, a new viologen-based Cd-complex (1) exhibits multiple thermochromic and photochromic behaviors through 10 states with 7 colors. For example, it responds to both Cu Kα/Mo Kα X-ray sources and UV dual light quickly with a color change from colorless to dark blue (1X) (Cu Kα/Mo Kα X-ray sources) and cyan (1-UV) (UV light), respectively. Interestingly, it exhibits a three-step coloration phenomenon when heated, which is unprecedented in viologen compounds. Crystal 1 undergoes a color change to pink, blue, and brown under 130, 180, and 240 °C, respectively. In addition, upon fumigation, both 1P and 1Q undergo a decoloration process to colorless (1K) and yellow (1T), respectively. Four more states (1P, 1K, 1T, and 1O) obtained via dehydration-hydration treatment are all photochromic. More importantly, via single-crystal-single-crystal transformation (SC-SC), the photochromic and thermochromic behaviors of 1 were investigated from the molecular level, which is also rather rare for thermochromic species. The detailed electron donor and the pathways for electron transfer were clearly given according to the results of crystal structure. The colorful states upon external stimuli may be attributed to the multiple pathways for electron transfer.

Abstract
We synthesized and characterized three types of isostructural iodoargentates, [TM(phen)3]Ag2I4·3DMF (TM = Co (1), Ni (2), Zn (3)), [TM(phen)3]Ag3I5·DMF (TM = Co (4), Ni (5), Zn (6)), and [TM(phen)3]2Ag8I12·7DMF (TM = Co (7), Ni (8), Zn (9)) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, DMF = dimethylformamide) using transition-metal (TM) complexes as the structure-directing agents. Compounds 1-3 and compounds 4-6 feature zero-dimensional anionic [Ag4I8]4- and [Ag6I10]4- clusters, respectively. All of the [TM(phen)3]2+ cations in compounds 1-6 are arranged into a two-dimensional (2D) (6,3) net layer. Interestingly, compounds 1-3 are kinetically unstable in the mother solution, and they can be converted to compounds 4-6 via irreversible single-crystal to single-crystal transformation processes, respectively, with distinct changes in the crystal morphology and structure. Compounds 7-9 feature one-dimensional (1D) zigzag chains constructed from [Ag8I12]4- units. The UV-vis diffuse reflectance measurements demonstrate that compounds 1-9 possess the characteristics of semiconductors with band gaps of 2.58-2.71 eV and visible-light-irradiation-induced photocatalytic activities. Especially, compound 3 possesses higher photocatalytic degradation activity toward crystal violet (CV) and rhodamine B (RhB) in comparison to P25 under identical conditions. Moreover, the mechanism study reveals that the TM complex cations make a great contribution to the photocatalytic activity.

Abstract
Background The realization of multifunction in one bulk material is fascinating for developing a new generation of devices. Quaternary phosphorus salts were seldom utilized as templates in haloargentate systems, and the hybridization of alkyl(triphenyl)phosphonium with halometallate will be a good strategy for the development of multifunctional material, especially for biological material. Methods Under the template of (triphenyl)phosphonium-based quaternary phosphorus salts with different spacer lengths (n=2, 3, 4), three bromoargentate hybrids were constructed via the solution method, ie, (1,2-DBTPP)(Ag2Br4) (1), {(1,3-DBTPP)2(Ag7Br11)]∙CH3CN∙H2O} n (2), and {[(1,4-DBTPP)(Ag5Br7)](CH3CN)2∙H2O} n (3) (1,2-DBTPP2+=ethane-1,2-diylbis (triphenyl)phosphonium, 1,3-DBTPP2+=propane-1,3-diylbis (triphenyl)phosphonium, 1,4-DBTPP2+=butane-1,4-diylbis (triphenyl)phosphonium)). Results The (Ag7Br11) n 4n- chain in 2 is a new type of 1-D bromoargentate chain constructed from cubane-like Ag4Br4 nodes, AgBr4 tetrahedrons and AgBr3 triangles. Interestingly, by elongating spacer n from 2 to 4, argentophilicity interactions are weakened, and the hydrogen bonds are strengthened. Consequently, their water stabilities and photocurrents are improved, in which the Ag-4d/Br-4p to π* anti-bonding orbital of the quaternary phosphorus transfer is facilitated. Furthermore, the greenish blue emissions can be detected. Finally, high inhabitation rates against Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans can be observed in 2 and 3. Conclusion In all experiments, by elongating the spacer lengths of quaternary phosphorus salts, multifunctions were integrated in the quaternary phosphorus/bromoargentate hybrids, including greenish blue luminescence, repeatable photocurrent responses and durable antimicrobial activities with enhanced water stability. This work could provide a theoretical guide for the design of new biologically multifunctional materials.

Abstract
Two iodobismuthate-based organic-inorganic hybrids, [M(DMSO)8][Bi2I9] (M = La (1), Bi (2)), have been successfully designed and synthesized by using solvated metal cations as structure-directing agents (SDAs). 1 displays transient high-temperature thermochromism, which is similar to that of the characteristic low-temperature thermochromic properties of bulk bismuth iodide and iodobismuthate hybrids. In contrast, 2 exhibits distinguishing non-transient thermochromic properties stimulated by the different temperature ranges of the thermal treatments. More importantly, a comparison of the optical inertness of 1 and 2 also reveals novel photochromic behavior. The completely different thermo-/photo-responsive properties of 1 and 2 are mainly ascribed to the different binding abilities of the central metal cations with DMSO molecules, which cause a distinct transformation of the inorganic moiety and consequent modulation of band gaps.

Abstract
Host-guest encapsulation of functional organic dye into a porous metal-organic framework can give rise to the development of new functional materials. In this work, by intercalating the stilbazolium-type dye (DEAST)I (4'-diethylamino-N-methyl stilbazolium) into four lanthanide layered metal-organic complexes (Ln-LMOCs), i. e. {[Ln(BTB)(H2 O)2 ]⋅3(DMF)⋅2(H2 O)}n (Ln=La (1), Nd (2), Sm (3), Er (4)), four responsive (DEAST)I@Ln-LMOC composites have been prepared, serving as multifunctional performance platform. The core-shell structures of (DEAST)I@Ln-LMOC composites have been fully characterized by IR, UV/Vis, PXRD, SEM, TEM, TGA and ESR. Significantly, after intercalation of dyes, the (DEAST)I@Ln-LMOC composites exhibit enhanced luminescent sensing properties in detecting Fe3+ with much higher water stabilities. The luminescent sensing behavior stems from the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the π-electron-rich BTB ligands to the Fe3+ , and their higher water stabilities are induced by electrostatic interactions and lower porosity. Specially, the characteristic emissions of Sm3+ will not be affected after the encapsulation guest dyes, which provide a theoretical guide for the modulation of luminescence devices. Finally, better ion conductivities and diminished photocurrents can be achieved after the embedding of the functional organic dye. In all, the formation of (DEAST)I@Ln-LMOC composites with core-shell structures can be utilized as a multifunctional platform with good stability.

Abstract
In recent years, organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides have emerged as a highly promising class of semiconducting light emitting diodes (LEDs) due to their fascinating photoluminescence properties. Here, by specifically selecting different organic cations as templates, a series of new hybrid cuprous halides have been solvothermally prepared, namely [Me-Py]CuI2 (1), [(Me)2-DABCO]Cu2I4 (2), [Me-MePy]Cu2I3 (3), and [H2DABCO]Cu3X5 (X = I (4) and Br (5)). These hybrid cuprous halides feature one-dimensional (1D) [CuI2]-, [Cu2I3]- and [Cu3X5]2- (X = Br, I) chains surrounded and charge-balanced by organic cations. Under UV photoexcitation, these hybrid cuprous halides exhibit strong tunable photoluminescence from cyan (480 nm) to red (675 nm) emissions with large Stokes shifts (345 nm). The intrinsic nature of PL emissions is also investigated based on temperature-dependent PL emission, lifetime, photoluminescence quantum efficiencies, etc.

Abstract
In this paper, one imidazole macrocyclic divalent cation with a flexible configuration was chosen with the aim of the immobilization of its conformation. Six novel organic-inorganic hybrid supramolecules {([syn/anti-did](CdI4)(C2H3N)} (1), {([syn/anti-did](HgI4)(C2H3N)} (2), {([syn/syn-did](Pb2I8)(PbI5)} (3), {([syn/syn-did](Bi2I8)(BiI5)} (4), {([syn/syn-did](Ag4Br6)} n (5), and {([syn/anti-did](Ag2I4)} (6) [did2+ = (12z, 52z)-11H, 51H-1, 5(1, 3)-diimidazol-3-iuma-3, 7(1, 2)-dibenzenacyclooctaphane-13, 53-diium] have been synthesized through the self-assembly reaction of did2+ with different metals under solvothermal reaction. These compounds have been unambiguously confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction, IR, thermogravimetric and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Crystallographic analysis shows that the anions of compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural with mononuclear anion structure, the anions of compounds 3, 4, and 6 are of binuclear structure, and compound 5 anion is a one-dimensional anionic chain structure. Imidazole cyclophanes of organic cations may exist in a syn/syn-conformation in 3-5 or syn/anti conformation in 1, 2, 6, but tilting angles in compounds 1-6 were different. This article described the photocatalytic degradation of organic dye in waste water and the optical band gap of compounds 1-6. The calculated semiconductor band gap of compounds 1-6 is smaller than that of TiO2, so compounds 1-6 have semiconductor properties. Compound 1 has the smallest band gap value, and the photocatalytic performance is the best.

Abstract
In this article, three bisimidazole derivatives (1,4-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)butane, L1; 4,4′-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-1,1′-biphenyl, L2′; and 1,3-bis(2-ethylimidazol-1-yl)propane, L3) were employed to solvothermally react with AgI in an acidic environment, creating three new 1-D chained iodoargentates [H(L1)][Ag5I6]·DMF (DMF = N,N′-dimethylformamide) 1, [L2][Ag3I5] (L22+ = 4,4′-di(1H-imidazol-1-ium)-1,1′-biphenyl) 2, and [H2(L3)][Ag2I4] 3. L22+ in 2 originated from the in situ N-alkylation of L2′ with the CH3OH solvent. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) in 1, Ag+ and I− aggregate to form a 1-D tube-like iodoargentate, which exhibits the same topology as the carbon tube; (ii) the chain structure of the iodoargentate in 2 is based on a kind of trinuclear Ag–I cluster, which can be viewed as a segment of the classical cubic M4I4 cluster; (iii) the chain structure of the iodoargentate in 3 is simple, which can be described as a linear arrangement of the AgI4 tetrahedra by sharing edges. The photoluminescence analysis reveals that at 77 K, (i) 1 and 2 emit strong yellow light with ms-grade photoluminescence lifetimes (5.460 ms for 1, 6.931 ms for 2); (ii) 3 possesses photochromic luminescence properties. Upon excitation at 254 nm, it emits blue-green light, whereas upon excitation at 365 nm, it emits yellow light. Three bisimidazole-based chained iodoargentates were solvothermally synthesized, and their photoluminescent behaviors at different temperatures were investigated. Of those, 3 has been found to possess photochromic luminescence properties.![]()
