Access to Benzocyclic Boronates via Light-Promoted Intramolecular Arylborylation of Alkenes

Benzocyclic boronates have attracted increasing research interest in drug chemistry and organic synthesis in recent years. Herein, we report a facile access to benzocyclic boronates through photopromoted intramolecular arylborylation of allyl aryldiazonium salts. This simple protocol features a broad scope, allowing the formation of variously functionalized borates bearing dihydrobenzofuran, dihydroindene, benzothiophene, and indoline skeletons under mild and sustainable conditions.

Copper-catalyzed cascade radical cyclization of alkynoates: construction of aryldifluoromethylated coumarins

A mild and simple method is reported for the construction of 3-difluoroarylmethylated coumarins using α,α-difluoroarylacetic acids as an easily handled difluoromethyl source in reaction with ester 3-arylpropiolates under the promotion of copper. The reaction involves a proposed radical-triggered domino decarboxylative aryldifluoromethylation/5-exo cyclization/ester migration process that directly forms Csp²-CF₂Ar and C-C bonds with good functional group tolerance.

Recent Progress and Emerging Technologies towards a Sustainable Synthesis of Sulfones

Sulfones play a pivotal role in modern organic chemistry. They are highly versatile building blocks and find various applications as drugs, agrochemicals, or functional materials. Therefore, sustainable access to this class of molecules is of great interest. Herein, the goal was to provide a summary on recent developments in the field of sustainable sulfone synthesis. Advances and existing limitations in traditional approaches towards sulfones were reviewed on selected examples. Furthermore, novel emerging technologies for a more sustainable sulfone synthesis and future directions were discussed.

Visible-light promoted one-pot synthesis of sulfonated spiro[4,5]trienones from propiolamides, anilines and sulfur dioxide under transition metal-free conditions

A novel visible-light promoted sulfonylation/ipso-cyclization of N-arylpropiolamides with aromatic amines and DABCO·(SO₂)₂ to synthesize various sulfonated spiro[4,5]trienones is reported.

Substituted Hantzsch esters as radical reservoirs with the insertion of sulfur dioxide under photoredox catalysis

A three-component reaction between 4-substituted Hantzsch esters, DABCO·(SO₂)₂, and vinyl azides in the presence of photoredox catalysts under visible light irradiation is developed. A range of (Z)-2-(alkylsulfonyl)-1-arylethen-1-amines is obtained in moderate to good yields with good regioselectivity and stereoselectivity.

This review is focused on the recent advances in the chemistry of sulfur dioxide fixation through a radical process. Diverse sulfonyl compounds can be obtained efficiently under mild conditions.

Cobalt(ii)-catalyzed remote C5-selective C–H sulfonylation of quinolines via insertion of sulfur dioxide

A cobalt(ii)-catalyzed reaction for highly selective C5-sulfonylation of quinolines via insertion of sulfur dioxide is developed, leading to diverse sulfonated quinolines in moderate to good yields.
