Abstract
In this work, a coordination polymer based on cobalt terephthalate was obtained and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The coordination polymer was tested as a sorbent for the solid-phase extraction of cephalosporin antibiotics, including ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, and cefazolin, from aqueous solutions. The coordination polymer had a high adsorption capacity (520.0 mg/g). Antibiotics adsorption followed pseudo-second order kinetic model and the Freundlich isotherm model. The calculated thermodynamic parameters indicate a spontaneous process. The resulting coordination polymer has good stability and reusability. The possibility of separating the studied cephalosporins on a chromatographic column filled with a coordination polymer was shown. This work opens great prospects for the development and application of a coordination polymer based on cobalt terephthalate for the removal of cephalosporins from ambient water.

Abstract
A new asymmetrically substituted ONOO Schiff base ligand N-(2′-hydroxy-1′-naphthylidene)-3-amino-2-naphthoic acid (nancH2) was prepared from the condensation of 2–hydroxy–1–naphthaldehyde and 3–amino–2–naphthoic acid. nancH2 reacts with Cu2(O2CMe)4·2H2O in the presence of Gd(O2CMe)3·6H2O to afford a uniform one-dimensional homometallic chain, [CuII(nanc)]n (1). The structure of 1 was elucidated via single crystal X-ray diffraction studies, which revealed that the Cu(II) ions adopt distorted square planar geometries and are coordinated in a tridentate manner by an [ONO] donor set from one nanc2− ligand and an O− of a bridging carboxylate group from a second ligand. The bridging carboxylato group of the nanc2− ligand adopts a syn, anti-η1:η1:μ conformation linking neighboring Cu(II) ions, forming a 1D chain. The magnetic susceptibility of 1 follows Curie–Weiss law in the range 45–300 K (C = 0.474(1) emu K mol-1, θ = +7.9(3) K), consistent with ferromagnetic interactions between S = ½ Cu(II) ions with g = 2.248. Subsequently, the data fit well to the 1D quantum Heisenberg ferromagnetic (QHFM) chain model with g = 2.271, and J = +12.3 K. DFT calculations, implementing the broken symmetry approach, were also carried out on a model dimeric unit extracted from the polymeric chain structure. The calculated exchange coupling via the carboxylate bridge (J = +13.8 K) is consistent with the observed ferromagnetic exchange between neighbouring Cu(II) centres.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of two tritopic ligands containing a 2,2':6',2″-terpyridine (tpy) metal binding domain and either a 3,2':6',3″- or a 4,2':6',4″-tpy domain are detailed. The synthetic routes to these ligands involved the [Pd(dppf)Cl2]-catalyzed coupling of a boronic ester-functionalized 2,2':6',2″-tpy with bromo-derivatives of 3,2':6',3″-tpy or 4,2':6',4″-tpy. The 2,2':6',2″-tpy domains of the tritopic ligands preferentially bind Fe2+ in reactions with iron(II) salts leading to the formation of two homoleptic iron(II) complexes containing two peripheral 3,2':6',3″-tpy or 4,2':6',4″-tpy metal-binding sites, respectively. These iron(II) complexes are potentially tetratopic ligands and represent expanded versions of tetra(pyridin-4-yl)pyrazine.

Abstract
We applied an ex-situ casting procedure to prepare a nanocomposite (NCP) from Makrofol polycarbonate (PC) and CdSe nanoparticles. The CdSe nanoparticles were prepared by a thermolysis procedure in the presence of N2 gas flow. Rietveld refinement of x-ray data illustrated that the CdSe adopts a cubic zinc blend structure of 6.057 Å lattice parameter and 2 nm typical grain size. Samples from the prepared NCP were exposed to γ dosages (20 kGy–250 kGy). The modifications induced in the NCP films owing to γ dosages have been studied. The γ irradiation (50 kGy–250 kGy) causes crosslinks that reduce the optical bandgap from 4.15 eV to 3.81 eV, associated with an increase in dielectric parameters and refractive index. This is attributed to an increase in the mass fraction of the disordered regions as specified by x-ray diffraction. The PC–CdSe NCP was found to have a reaction to color modification which makes it suitable for saleable reproduction on a printing press.

Abstract
The current study aims to explain recent developments in the synthesis of Pb(II)-azido metal-organic coordination polymers. Coordination polymers are defined as hybrid materials encompassing metal-ion-based, organic linkers, vertices, and ligands, serving to link the vertices to 1D, 2D, or 3D periodic configurations. The coordination polymers have many applications and potential properties in many research fields, primarily dependent on particular host-guest interactions. Metal coordination polymers (CPs) and complexes have fascinating structural topologies. Therefore, they have found numerous applications in different areas over the past two decades. Azido-bridged complexes are inorganic coordination ligands with higher fascination that have been the subject of intense research because of their coordination adaptability and magnetic diversity. Several sonochemical methods have been developed to synthesize nanostructures. Researchers have recently been interested in using ultrasound in organic chemistry synthetics, since ultrasonic waves in liquids accelerate chemical reactions in heterogeneous and homogeneous systems. The sonochemical synthesis of lead-azide coordination compounds resulted from very fantastic morphologies, and some of these compounds are used as precursors for preparing nano lead oxide. The ultrasonic sonochemistry approach has been extensively applied in different research fields, such as medical imaging, biological cell disruption, thermoplastic welding, food processing, and waste treatment. CPs serve as appropriate precursors for preparing favorable materials at the nanoscale. Using these polymers as precursors is beneficial for preparing inorganic nanomaterials such as metal oxides.

Abstract
This study aimed to synthesize copper oxide (CuO) thin films using an eco-friendly green synthetic approach. A sol-gel spin coating technique was employed for the synthesis of the CuO thin film using Allium cepa as a reducing agent. The fabricated CuO thin film was investigated using the Fourier Transform-Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Ultraviolet-visible spectra studies (UV-Vis), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the Four-Point Probe measurement. The SEM micrographs revealed that the particles were spherically shaped, while the EDX analysis revealed that the CuO thin film was composed of copper and oxygen elements. Furthermore, the XRD analysis confirmed the monoclinic crystalline structure of the CuO thin film, while the FTIR spectroscopy investigated the chemical bonds formed during the production process. Contrarily, the UV-Vis spectroscopy reported a strong absorption of the film at the visible spectra with an estimated optical energy band gap of 1.48 eV. The electrical analysis, however, disclosed that the synthesized thin film portrayed good semiconducting behaviors.

Abstract
The adducts between luminescent lanthanide tris(β-diketonate)s and diimine or triimine ligands have been explored exhaustively for their exceptional photophysical properties. Their formation, stability, and structures in solution, together with the design of extended metallopolymers exploiting these building blocks, remain, however, elusive. The systematic peripheral substitution of tridentate 2,6-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine binding units (Lk = L1-L5), taken as building blocks for linear oligomers and polymers, allows a fine-tuning of their affinity toward neutral [Ln(hfa)3] (hfa = hexafluoroacetylacetonate) lanthanide containers in the [LkLn(hfa)3] adducts. Two trends emerge with (i) an unusual pronounced thermodynamic selectivity for midrange lanthanides (Ln = Eu) and (ii) an intriguing influence of remote peripheral substitutions of the benzimidazole rings on the affinity of the tridentate unit for [Ln(hfa)3]. These trends are amplified upon the connection of several tridentate binding units via their benzimidazole rings to give linear segmental dimers (L6) and trimers (L7), which are considered as models for programming linear Wolf-Type II metallopollymers. Modulation of the affinity between the terminal and central binding units in the linear multitridentate ligands deciphers the global decrease of metal-ligand binding strengths with an increase in the length of the receptors (monomer → dimer → trimer → polymer). Application of the site binding model shed light onto the origin of the variation of the thermodynamic affinities: a prerequisite for the programmed loading of a polymer backbone with luminescent lanthanide β-diketonates. Analysis of the crystal structures for these adducts reveals delicate correlations between the chemical bond lengths measured in the solid state (or bond valence parameters) and the metal-ligand affinities operating in solution.

Abstract
Two novel coordination polymers, [Bi2(2,3pydc)2(2,3pydcH)2(H2O)]n (1) and {(Et3NH)2[Bi(2,3pydc)(2,3pydcH)Cl2]}n (2) were prepared using as a prolinker pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (2,3pydcH2). The obtained complexes were fully characterized by elemental analysis, TG/DTG, FT-IR, solid-state photoluminescence, DFT calculations and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The obtained complexes crystallized in the triclinic P-1 space group (1) and comprise dimeric units with two crystallographically different Bi(III) centers (polyhedra: distorted pentagonal bipyramid and bicapped trigonal prism) and monoclinic P21/c space group (2) with a distorted monocapped pentagonal bipyramid of Bi(III) center. The various coordination modes of bridging carboxylate ligands are responsible for the formation of 1D chains with 4,5C10 (1) and 2C1 (2) topology. The photoluminescence quantum yield for polymer 2 is 8.36%, which makes it a good candidate for more specific studies towards Bi-based fluorescent materials. Moreover, it was detected that polymer 1 is more than twice as active against H. pylori as polymer 2. It can be concluded that there is an existing relationship between the structure and the antibacterial activity because the presence of chloride and triethylammonium ions in the structure of complex 2 reduces the antibacterial activity.

Abstract
The synthesis, crystal structure and physical properties of a novel one-dimensional zigzag chain-like CoII coordination polymer, [Co2(2-OHbenz)4(4,4′-bpy)2.5(H2O)]n, constructed from 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and 2-hydroxybenzoate (2-OHbenz) are reported. A novel one-dimensional zigzag chain-like CoII coordination polymer constructed from 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and 2-hydroxybenzoate (2-OHbenz) ligands, namely, catena-poly[[(4,4′-bipyridine-κN)(μ-2-hydroxybenzoato-κ2O:O′)(2-hydroxybenzoato-κ2O,O′)cobalt(II)]-μ-4,4′-bipyridine-κ2N:N′-[aquahemi(μ-4,4′-bipyridine-κ2N:N′)(2-hydroxybenzoato-κO(2-hydroxybenzoato-κ2O:O′)cobalt(II)], [Co2(C7H5O3)4(C10H8N2)2.5(H2O)]n, has been synthesized by reacting cobalt(II) nitrate trihydrate, 4,4′-bpy and 2-hydroxybenzoic acid in a mixture of water and methanol at room temperature. There are two independent CoII centers, Co1 and Co2, in the asymmetric unit, revealing a distorted octahedral geometry with chromophore types of [CoN2O4] and [CoN2O3O′], respectively. The Co1 ions are doubly bridged by 2-OHbenz ligands with syn–anti coordination mode, generating a dinuclear unit. The bridging 4,4′-bpy ligands connect these dinuclear units and the mononuclear Co2 chromophores, providing a one-dimensional alternating zigzag chain-like structure. In the crystal, intermolecular hydrogen bonds, C—H⋯π and π–π stacking interactions are observed and these help to consolidate the packing. In addition, the physical properties of the title compound are reported.

Abstract
Several important synthesis pathways for metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were applied to determine how the synthesis methods and conditions affect the structure and adsorption capacity of the resulting samples. In the present work, three different synthesis routes were used to obtain copper trimesinate coordination polymer: Slow evaporation (A), solvothermal synthesis using a polyethylene glycol (PEG-1500) modulator (B), and green synthesis in water (C). This MOF was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetry and volumetric nitrogen adsorption/desorption. The samples have permanent porosity and a microporous structure with a large surface area corresponding to the adsorption type I. The obtained MOF was tested as a sorbent to remove organic dyes methylene blue (МВ), Congo red (CR) and methyl violet (MV) as examples. Dye adsorption followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. The equilibrium data were fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models, and the isotherm constants were determined. Thermodynamic parameters, such as changes in the free energy of adsorption (ΔG0), enthalpy (ΔH0), and entropy (ΔS0), were calculated. Thermolysis of copper trimesinate leads to the formation of carbon materials Cu@C with a high purity.

Abstract
Recently, as a new sub-family of porous coordination polymers (PCPs), porphyrinic-MOFs (Porph-MOFs) with biomimetic features have been developed using porphyrin macrocycles as ligands and/or pillared linkers. The control over the coordination of the porphyrin ligand and its derivatives however remains a challenge for engineering new tunable Porph-MOF frameworks by self-assembly methods. The key challenges exist in the following respects: (i) collapse of the large open pores of Porph-MOFs during synthesis, (ii) deactivation of unsaturated metal-sites (UMCs) by axial coordination, and (iii) the tendency of both coordinated moieties (at peripheral meso- and beta-carbon sites) and the N4-pyridine core to coordinate with metal cations. In this respect, this review covers the advances in the design of Porph-MOFs relative to their counterpart covalent organic frameworks (Porph-COFs). The potential utility of custom-designed porphyrin/metalloporphyrins ligands is highlighted. Synthesis strategies of Porph-MOFs are also illustrated with modular design of hybrid guest@host composites (either Porph@MOFs or guest@Porph-MOFs) with exceptional topologies and stability. This review summarizes the synergistic benefits of coordinated porphyrin ligands and functional guest molecules in Porph-MOF composites for enhanced catalytic performance in various redox applications. This review shed lights on the engineering of new tunable hetero-metals open active sites within (metallo)porphyrin-MOFs as out-of-the-box platforms for enhanced catalytic processes in chemical and biological media.

Abstract
Metal ions often influence the photoswitching efficiency of a photochromic system. This article reports a one-dimensional polymer having cyclic azobenzenes coordinated to silver ions that are bridged by nitrates. The coordination polymer (CP-2) displays a photoresponsive behavior. The switching ability in the polymer form was faster compared to the parent azobenzene ligand without the metal ions. Azobenzenes are reported to be poorly conducting. Here, although the azobenzene ligand does not show significant electronic mobility, the coordination polymer (CP-2) displays a modest conductivity. The conductance in the cis form of the polymer is significantly higher compared to the trans form. Upon exposure to visible light, the cis form undergoes photoisomerization to the trans form with a drastic drop in the electronic mobility. The trans form can be reverted to the cis form thermally or by using UV light. Thus, this system offers a reversible control of the conductivity using light.

Abstract
A unprecedented hetero-bimetallic 3d-4f BDC-salamo-based coordination polymer, [(L)Ni(BDC)Gd(NO3)(DMF)] was prepared and validated via elemental analyses, IR and UV–Visible absorption spectra, DFT calculation, and X-ray crystallography. The six-coordinated Ni1 ion lies at the N2O2 donor site of the L2− moiety, and one DMF O atom and carboxylate O atom occupy, collectively, the axial positions, and form a twisted octahedron. The nine-coordinated Gd1 ion consists of three oxygen atoms (O12, O13, and O14) of two carboxylate groups, two oxygen atoms (O8 and O9) derived from one bidentate nitrate group, and an O2O2 coordination site (O1, O2, O6, and O5) of the L2− unit, forming a twisted three-capped triangular prism coordination geometry. Compared to the ligand (H2L), the fluorescence intensity decreases due to the coordination of metal ions. Meanwhile, the antibacterial activities are researched.

Abstract
Metallopolymers (MPs) or metal-containing polymers have shown great potential as new drug delivery systems (DDSs) due to their unique properties, including universal architectures, composition, properties and surface chemistry. Over the past few decades, the exponential growth of many new classes of MPs that deal with these issues has been demonstrated. This review presents and assesses the recent advances and challenges associated with using MPs as DDSs. Among the most widely used MPs for these purposes, metal complexes based on synthetic and natural polymers, coordination polymers, metal-organic frameworks, and metallodendrimers are distinguished. Particular attention is paid to the stimulus- and multistimuli-responsive metallopolymer-based DDSs. Of considerable interest is the use of MPs for combination therapy and multimodal systems. Finally, the problems and future prospects of using metallopolymer-based DDSs are outlined. The bibliography includes articles published over the past five years.
