Abstract
Manganese (Mn)-based oxides are considered suitable positive electrode materials for supercapacitors (SCs). However, their cycle stability and specific capacitance are significantly hindered by key restrictions such as structural instability and low conductivity. Herein, we demonstrated a novel nanorod (NR)-shaped heterostructured manganese dioxide/manganese selenide membrane (MnO2/MnSe) on carbon cloth (CC) (denoted as MnO2/MnSe-NR@CC) with a high aspect ratio by a straightforward and facile hydrothermal process. Experiments have demonstrated that doping selenium atoms to oxygen sites reduce electronegativity, increasing the intrinsic electronic conductivity of MnO2, decreasing electrostatic interactions with electrolyte ions, and thus boosting the reaction kinetics. Further, the selenium doping results in an amorphous surface with extensive oxygen defects, which contributed to the emergence of additional charge storage sites with pseudocapacitive characteristics. As expected, novel heterostructured MnO2/MnSe-NR@CC as an electrode for SC exhibits a high capacitance of 740.63 F/g at a current density of 1.5 A/g, with excellent cycling performance (93% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles). The MnO2/MnSe-NR@CC exhibited outstanding charge storage capability, dominating capacitive charge storage (84.6% capacitive at 6 mV/s). To examine the practical applications of MnO2/MnSe-NR@CC-ASC as a positive electrode, MnO2/MnSe-NR@CC//AC device was fabricated. The MnO2/MnSe-NR@CC//AC-ASC device performed exceptionally well, with a maximum capacitance of 166.66 F/g at 2 A/g, with a capacitance retention of 94%, after 500 GCD cycles. Additionally, it delivers an energy density of 75.06 Wh/kg at a power density of 1805.1 W/kg and maintains 55.044 Wh/kg at a maximum power density of 18,159 W/kg. This research sheds fresh information on the anionic doping method and has the potential to be applied to the synthesis of positive electrode materials for energy storage applications.

Abstract
Manganese dioxide (MnO2)-based nanostructures are promising electrode materials for supercapacitors (SCs) due to their low cost, eco-friendly nature, and high theoretical capacitance. However, the conductivity of MnO2 is poor, which is a big problem when trying to achieve the desired capacitance value. Herein, hexagonal-phase MnO2 nanoparticles (NPs) are directly grown on a 3D conductive carbon cloth (CC) (denoted as MnO2-NPs@CC) as a binder-free electrode through a simple and scalable hydrothermal strategy. The results show that MnO2-NPs@CC with a large specific surface area and high porosity could be employed as a positive electrode material for high-performance SCs. Owing to these attractive properties, the MnO2-NPs@CC electrode delivers a high specific capacitance of 660 F/g at a current density of 2 A/g in 6 M KOH aqueous electrolytes. Moreover, the MnO2-NPs@CC electrode demonstrates excellent cycling stability with high capacitance retention of 92.8% over 10,000 cycles. Such remarkable findings suggest that MnO2-NPs@CC with enhanced electrochemical performance is a favorable electrode material for next-generation high-performance SCs.

Abstract
Manganese dioxide (MnO2 ) has been widely used in the field of energy storage due to its high specific capacitance, low cost, natural abundance, and being environmentally friendly. However, suffering from poor electrical conductivity and high dissolvability, the performance of MnO2 can no longer meet the needs of rapidly growing technological development, especially for the application as electrode material in metal-ion batteries and supercapacitors. In this review, recent studies on the development of binary or multiple MnO2 -based composites with conductive components for energy storage are summarized. Firstly, general preparing methods for MnO2 -based composites are introduced. Subsequently, the binary and multiple MnO2 -based composites with carbon, conducting polymer, and other conductive materials are discussed respectively. The improvement in their performance is summarized as well. Finally, perspectives on the practical applications of MnO2 -based composites are presented.

Abstract
In this work, silver nanoparticles decorated on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) wrapped manganese oxide nanorods (Ag-rGO@MnO2) were synthesized for an active electrode material. MnO2 nanorods were synthesized via a hydrothermal route, and their coating with GO and subsequent reduction at a higher temperature resulted in rGO@MnO2. A further addition of Ag on rGO@MnO2 was performed by dispersing rGO@MnO2 in AgNO3 solution and its subsequent reduction by NaBH4. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed peaks corresponding to MnO2 and Ag, and the absence of a peak at 2θ = 26° confirmed a few layered coatings of rGO and the absence of any graphitic impurities. Morphological analysis showed Ag nanoparticles anchored on rGO coated MnO2 nanorods. Apart from this, all other characterization techniques also confirmed the successful fabrication of Ag-rGO@MnO2. The electrochemical performance examined by cyclic voltammetry and the galvanic charge–discharge technique showed that Ag-rGO@MnO2 has a superior capacitive value (675 Fg−1) as compared to the specific capacitance value of rGO@MnO2 (306.25 Fg−1) and MnO2 (293.75 Fg−1). Furthermore, the electrode based on Ag-rGO@MnO2 nanocomposite showed an excellent capacity retention of 95% after 3000 cycles. The above results showed that Ag-rGO@MnO2 nanocomposites can be considered an active electrode material for future applications in electrochemical devices.

Abstract
Polyaniline-coated multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) conductive polymer precursors (MWCNTs@PANI) were prepared by an in situ microemulsion oxidation polymerization of aniline in the case of MWCNTs, and then hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene polyurethane conductive polymer nanocomposites based on MWCNTs@PANI (MWCNTs@PANI/HTPB PUs) were prepared through an in situ stepwise polymerization of HTPB and diisocyanates. The chemical structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman, x-ray diffraction, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The morphologies and dispersion behavior were examined by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and UV-vis transmittance. The MWCNTs@PANI/HTPB PUs nanocomposites were fabricated into film sensors for detection of volatile organic compound vapors, and displayed an evident response to trichloromethane vapor (CHCl3). The effect of MWCNTs on the conductivity and the responsivity to trichloromethane of conductive polymer nanocomposite films were studied, finding that the conductive composite films have fast and strong response, good repeatability and recoverability, and long-term stability. Consequently, they can be potentially applied for supervision and detection of interior and outdoor environmental gases or vapors.
