Abstract
Herein, we report a direct method for palladium-catalyzed coordination-induced oxidative remote C-H aryl etherification of 8-amidoquinolines with p-benzoquinone monoacetal. The method provides access to C5-aryl etherified quinolines and shows site-selectivity different from that of typical palladium-catalyzed C(sp2)-H activation reactions. The p-benzoquinone monoacetals act both as oxidants and as aryl etherification reagents. By using proper substrates, C5-aminated quinolines and C4-etherifed 1-naphthylamine could also be formed.

Abstract
A simple and effective method for the copper-catalyzed selective C5-H bromination and difluoromethylation of 8-aminoquinoline amides with ethyl bromodifluoroacetate as the bifunctional reagent was developed. The combination of cupric catalyst and alkaline additive results in a C5-bromination reaction, whereas cuprous catalyst combined with silver additive results in the C5-difluoromethylation reaction. This method has a broad substrate scope and allows for easy and convenient access to desired C5-functionalized quinolones with good to excellent yields.

Abstract
A visible-light-induced cascade cyanoalkylsulfonylation/cyclization/aromatization of N-propargyl aromatic amines with K2S2O5 and cyclobutanone oxime esters for the construction of cyanoalkylsulfonylated quinolines is developed. This cascade transformation features mild reaction conditions, a broad substrate scope, and excellent functional group compatibility, providing a convenient route toward cyanoalkylsulfonylated quinolines via the formation of a C-C bond and two C-S bonds in one step.

Abstract
A novel and efficient electrochemical radical δ-H sulfonylation reaction of para-quinone methides (p-QMs) and sodium sulfinates has been achieved under common laboratory conditions. In this strategy, a new C(sp2)-S bond was constructed for the synthesis of 4-((aryl,arylsulfonyl)methylene)-2,5-cyclohexadiene derivatives with a broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and mild conditions. Further studies showed that the reaction had an excellent regional selectivity.

Abstract
Under superacidic conditions, aniline and indole derivatives are sulfonylated at low temperature with easy-to-access arenesulfonic acids or arenesulfonyl hydrazides. By modification of the functional-group directing effect through protonation, this method allows nonclassical site functionalization by overcoming the innate regioselectivity of electrophilic aromatic substitution. This superacid-mediated sulfonylation of arenes is complementary to existing methods and can be applied, through protection by protonation, to the late-stage site-selective functionalization of natural alkaloids and active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Abstract
A rapid three-component cascade reaction for the synthesis of unsymmetric azo compounds via a radical activation strategy has been reported. Various aryldiazonium salts and unactivated alkenes are well compatible, providing the corresponding products in good to excellent yields. This strategy gives an efficient and practical solution for the synthesis of unsymmetric azo compounds with two C-N bond formation. A free radical pathway mechanism is advised for this transformation.

Abstract
Silver-promoted sulfonylation and ring-expansion of vinylcyclopropanes with sodium sulfinates is established for the construction of 1-sulfonylmethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes. This sulfonylation process involves a radical pathway, including sulfonyl radical formation, radical addition, ring-opening and cyclization. The 1-sulfonylmethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes can be converted into other useful products.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION An effective Cu-complex, [Cu(NH3)4SO4 • H2O] was prepared conveniently from the inexpensive and easily available starting reagents in a simple route. MATERIALS AND METHODS Excellent reactivity of the catalyst was observed towards two competent clickcycloadditions: (a) oxidative cycloaddition of azides with electron-poor olefins and (b) one-pot cycloaddition of alkynes with boronic acid and sodium azide under "click-appropriate" conditions. RESULTS No external oxidant, short reaction time, high product yield, wide substrate scope, and aqueous solvent media make the azide-olefin cycloaddition approach a greener route in contrast to the reported methods. CONCLUSION The newly developed mild, green, and rapid three-component strategy shows product diversity with superb yields at room temperature by reducing the synthetic process time and using only 1 mol % of the synthesized copper complex.

Abstract
Previously, an unexpected Co-catalysed remote C-H nitration of 8-aminoquinolinamide compounds was developed. This report provided a novel reactivity for Co which was assumed to proceed through the mechanistic pathway already known for analogous Cu-catalysed remote couplings of the same substrates. In order to shed light into this intriguing, and previously unobserved reactivity for Co, a thorough computational study has now been performed, which has allowed for a full understanding of the operative mechanism. This study demonstrates that the Co-catalysed remote coupling does not occur through the previously proposed Single Electron Transfer (SET) mechanism, but actually operates through a high-spin induced remote radical coupling mechanism, through a key intermediate with significant proportion of spin density at the 5- and 7-positions of the aminoquinoline ring. Additionally, new experimental data provides expansion of the synthetic utility of the original nitration procedure towards 1-naphthylpicolinamide which unexpectedly appears to operate via a subtly different mechanism despite having a similar chelate environment.

Abstract
A convenient and straightforward three-component transformation of quinoline N-oxides, sodium metabisulfite and aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates has been developed, providing the target products in moderate to good yields. Compared with previous studies, the present methodology avoids the use of transition-metal catalysts and excess oxidants, providing a simple and practical alternative approach for the construction of 2-sulfonylquinolines. Control experiments indicate that a dual radical coupling process is responsible for this reaction.

Abstract
An efficient photocatalytic method was developed for the remote C5-H bond carboxylation of 8-aminoquinoline amide and sulfonamide derivatives. This methodology uses in situ generated •CBr3 radical as a carboxylation agent with alcohol and is further extended to a variety of arenes and heteroarenes to synthesize the desired carboxylated product in moderate-to-good yields. The reaction proceeding through a single electron transfer pathway was established by a control experiment, and a butylated hydroxytoluene-trapped aryl radical cation intermediate in high-resolution mass spectrometry was identified.

Abstract
Recent advances in the sulfonylation of C–H bonds with the insertion of sulfur dioxide are summarized. C–H bond sulfonylation under transition metal catalysis or through a radical process has been developed. In some cases, the sulfonylation can be performed under catalyst- and additive-free conditions, or can be facilitated by visible light irradiation. The efficiency is also studied by merging the radical process and metal catalysis.

Abstract
2-Sulfonylanilines are generated in moderate to good yields through a three-component reaction of anilines, DABCO·(SO2)2, and aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates under mild conditions. No metal catalysts or additives are needed for this transformation.

Abstract
Sulfonylation of the benzylic C–H bond is developed through a three-component reaction of aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates, 4-methylphenols and sodium metabisulfite (Na2S2O5). The inorganic sulfite of sodium metabisulfite is used as the SO2 surrogate.
