Abstract
Over the past several years, a significant increase in the expanding field of biomaterial sciences has been observed due to the development of biocompatible materials based on peptide derivatives that have intrinsic therapeutic potential. In this report, we synthesized nucleobase functionalized peptide derivatives (NPs). Hydrogelation in the synthesized NPs was induced by increasing their hydrophobicity with an aromatic moiety. The aggregation behavior of the NPs was analyzed by performing molecular dynamics simulations and DOSY NMR experiments. We performed circular dichroism (CD), thioflavin-T binding and PXRD to characterize the supramolecular aggregation in the NP1 hydrogel. The mechanical strength of the NP1 hydrogel was tested by performing rheological experiments. TEM and SEM experiments were performed to investigate the morphology of the NP1 hydrogel. The biocompatibility of the newly synthesized NP1 hydrogel was investigated using McCoy and A549 cell lines. The hemolytic activity of the NP1 hydrogel was examined in human blood cells. The stability of the newly formed NP1 hydrogel was examined using proteinase K and α-chymotrypsin. The NP1 hydrogel was used for in vitro wound healing. Western blotting, qRT-PCR and DCFDA assay were performed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of the NP1 hydrogel. The synthesized NP1 hydrogel also exhibits antibacterial efficacy.

Abstract
A unique gyroid cubic phase has been discovered for a discotic star mesogen with three covalently attached DNA bases. In this cubicI a 3 ‾ d ${Ia\bar{3}d}$ phase, the conjugated core of the mesogens and the thymine pseudo guests self-assemble in mirror image continuous networks, representing a semiconducting material with three-dimensional transport pathways. The hole carrier mobilities are found to be in the typical range of poly(phenylenevinylene) scaffolds. This structure is stabilized by a weak hydrogen bonding between the thymine bases and can be switched to a columnar liquid crystal - thermally and by the addition of complementary adenine guests.

Abstract
Single-ion conductors have garnered attention in energy storage systems as a promising alternative to currently widespread electrolytes that allow migration of cations and anions. However, ion transport phenomena of most single-ion conductors are affected by strong ion (e.g., Li+)-ion (immobilized anionic domains) interactions and tortuous paths, which pose an obstacle to achieving performance breakthroughs. Here, we present a Li+-centered G-quadruplex (LiGQ) as a class of single-ion conductor based on directional Li+ slippage at the microscopic level. A guanine derivative with liquid crystalline moieties is self-assembled to form a hexagonal ordered columnar structure in the LiGQ, thereby yielding one-dimensional central channels that provide weak ion-dipole interaction and straightforward ionic pathways. The LiGQ exhibits weak Li+ binding energy and low activation energy for ion conduction, verifying its viability as a new electrolyte design.

Abstract
Inspired by the atomic-sized, shape-regulated features of G-quadruplexes comprising guanine motifs with a monovalent metal cation, the G-quadruplex-forming ability, and properties of a guanine-based π-conjugated Y2 molecule containing bithiophene and peripheral dodecyl chain units in the presence of various cation salts (Li+ , Na+ , K+ , and Mg2+ ) were exploited. A series of structural characterization revealed that Y2 yielded desirable G-quadruplexes with all the tested cations as a consequence of the combination of a hydrogen-bonded cyclic G-quartet, π-stacking, and cation-dipole interactions. The radius and nature of the coordinating cations crucially affected the structural characteristics of G-quadruplexes, leading to variations in the ion migration ability inside the cavity of the G-quadruplex (Li+ >Na+ >K+ >Mg2+ ), as characterized through theoretical and experimental investigations. These results not only improve the understanding of G-quadruplex self-assemblies based on guanine but also provide an impetus for their diverse potential applications, especially in the field of Li batteries.

Abstract
Inspired by the high photoconversion efficiency observed in natural light-harvesting systems, the hierarchical organization of molecular building blocks has gained impetus in the past few decades. Particularly, the molecular arrangement and packing in the active layer of organic solar cells (OSCs) have garnered significant attention due to the decisive role of the nature of donor/acceptor (D/A) heterojunctions in charge carrier generation and ultimately the power conversion efficiency. This review focuses on the recent developments in emergent optoelectronic properties exhibited by self-sorted donor-on-donor/acceptor-on-acceptor arrangement of covalently linked D-A systems, highlighting the ultrafast excited state dynamics of charge transfer and transport. Segregated organization of donors and acceptors promotes the delocalization of photoinduced charges among the stacks, engendering an enhanced charge separation lifetime and percolation pathways with ambipolar conductivity and charge carrier yield. Covalently linking donors and acceptors ensure a sufficient D-A interface and interchromophoric electronic coupling as required for faster charge separation while providing better control over their supramolecular assemblies. The design strategies to attain D-A conjugate assemblies with optimal charge carrier generation efficiency, the scope of their application compared to state-of-the-art OSCs, current challenges, and future opportunities are discussed in the review. An integrated overview of rational design approaches derived from the comprehension of underlying photoinduced processes can pave the way toward superior optoelectronic devices and bring in new possibilities to the avenue of functional supramolecular architectures.

Abstract
This paper presents a new family of ferroelectric smectic liquid-crystalline binary mixtures composed of achiral and chiral trifluoromethylphenylterthiophenes. The chiral symmetry breaking of the ferroelectric smectic phases can lead to chiral photovoltaic (CPV) effects, as a type of ferroelectric photovoltaic (FePV) effect, which is caused by the internal electric field originating from the spontaneous polarization. These ferroelectric properties were examined using the Sawyer-Tower method, and the CPV effect was confirmed by measuring the steady-state photocurrent response under zero bias. We found that the remnant polarization and photocurrent density in the polarized ferroelectric phases increased nonlinearly with the increase in the content of the chiral component in the mixture. Moreover, the hole mobility evaluated by time-of-flight measurements was kept constant by varying the composition. More than 40 mol % of the chiral component was required to form the polar structure, inducing the CPV effect. Binary mixture systems are advantageous for not only optimizing liquid crystal structures and temperature ranges but also facilitating the design of materials exhibiting CPV effects.

Abstract
Discrete block co-oligomers (BCOs) are gaining considerable attention due to their potential to form highly ordered ultrasmall nanostructures suitable for lithographic templates. However, laborious synthetic routes present a major hurdle to the practical application. Herein, we report a readily available discrete BCO system that is capable of forming various self-assembled nanostructures with ultrasmall periodicity. Click coupling of propargyl-functionalized sugars (containing 1-7 glucose units) and azido-functionalized terpenoids (containing 3, 4, and 9 isoprene units) afforded the discrete and monodisperse BCOs with a desired total degree of polymerization and block ratio. These BCOs microphase separated into lamellar, gyroid, and cylindrical morphologies with the domain spacing (d) of 4.2-7.5 nm. Considering easy synthesis and rich phase behavior, presented BCO systems could be highly promising for application to diverse ~4-nm nanofabrications.

Abstract
We report the synthesis of oleylamine capped CdS nanowires and we have dispersed a small optimized amount of these NWs in the Colh phase of a recently synthesized phenazine-fused-triphenylene discotic liquid crystal to understand the temperature-dependent charge transport.

Abstract
We explore the molecular nature of doping in organic semiconductors (OSCs) by employing a liquid crystalline organic semiconductor based on phenyl naphthalene as a model. The mesophase nature of composites that include a charge transfer complex (CTC) between the OSC (8-PNP-O12) and an electron acceptor (F4TCNQ) has been investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy and X-ray scattering. Optical and vibrational spectroscopies allow us to explore the characteristics and the amount of charge transfer in the CTC and expose some properties that appear only in the complexed state. We have found this system to exhibit partial charge transfer, which manifests itself in all the phase states of the host 8-PNP-O12, as well as in solution. Due to the lowering of molecular symmetry as a result of the charge transfer, one of the previously IR-only vibrational bands of the nitrile group is found to be now active in the Raman spectrum. We have also made an attempt to further investigate the influence of dopant introduction on the bulk hole mobility of 8-PNP-O12. It is found that the presence of the CTC promotes the hole transport in the Smectic B mesophase, however it seems to have a somewhat negative influence in the less ordered smectic A mesophase. This work aims to establish the link between the inevitable change of molecular geometry that occurs on charge transfer with the results obtained by spectroscopic techniques and electronic charge carrier mobility measurements.
