Nitroso-azomethine(ene) reaction enabled annulations of nitrosoarenes, azomethines and alkenes

An unprecedented example of a nitroso-azomethine(ene) reaction is reported. Nitroso-azomethine(ene) reaction-mediated unprecedented annulation of nitrosoarenes, azomethines, and alkenes to furnish arylquinolines via arene functionalization of nitrosoarene has been developed. DFT studies provided mechanistic insights into the newly developed nitroso-azomethine(ene) reaction.

Stereoselective Reductive Coupling Reactions Utilizing [1,2]-Phospha-Brook Rearrangement: A Powerful Umpolung Approach

[1,2]-Phospha-Brook rearrangement entails the generation of α-oxygenated carbanions via the umpolung process. Recently, these anionic species have been widely utilized for several C-C bond forming strategies, providing various useful frameworks that are difficult to access through conventional approaches. However, the application of this powerful methodology in the development of chiral strategies is still at the nascent stage due to challenges involved in controlling chemoselectivity and enantioselectivity. This synopsis provides a detailed summary of diastereo- and/or enantioselective chemical transformations using [1,2]-phospha-Brook rearrangement.

Synthesis of spirocyclic Δ4-isoxazolines via [3 + 2] cycloaddition of indanone-derived ketonitrones with alkynes

A [3 + 2] cycloaddition of indanone-derived nitrones and alkynes under mild conditions is developed, allowing facile synthesis of spirocyclicindenyl isoxazolines with structural diversity. The sequential protocol of generated in situ ketonitrone from unsaturated ketones and N-alkylhydroxylamines is also achieved successfully, affording the desired products in considerable yield with moderate to good diastereoselectivity. Moreover, the spirocyclic product can be conveniently transformed into indenyl-based allylic alcohol and enamide.

A [3 + 2] cycloaddition of indanone-derived nitrones with alkynes under mild conditions has been developed. It is a highly efficient and straightforward method for the synthesis of diverse spirocyclicindenyl isoxazolines.

Lewis acid catalyzed reactivity switch: pseudo three-component annulation of nitrosoarenes and (epoxy)styrenes

A Lewis acid catalyzed annulation reaction via arene functionalization of nitrosoarenes and C-C cleavage of (epoxy)styrene to provide arylquinolines is reported. The Lewis acid catalyst altered the annulation pattern providing arylquinolines instead of oxazolidines. The reaction with styrene resulted in a mixture of 2,4-diarylquinoline and 4-arylquinoline, while only 3-arylquinoline was formed from the reaction of epoxystyrene.

Chiral N-tert-Butylsulfinyl Imines: New Discoveries

In this account the reactions of chiral N-tert-butylsulfinyl imines with organometallic reagents such as organoalkaline (lithium, sodium, potassium and cesium derivatives), organomagnesium, organozinc, organoboron, organoaluminium, organoindium and organosilicon compounds is comprehensively described. The reactivity in all cases is derived to synthetic applications in order to prepare interesting organic nitrogenated molecules, especially in the field of alkaloid compounds.

Diastereoselective α-Amination of N- tert-Butanesulfinyl Imidates Using N-Aryl- N-diphenylphosphinyldiazenes

Diastereoselective α-amination of N- tert-butanesulfinyl imidates has been developed using N-aryl (or N- tert-butyl) N-diphenylphosphinyldiazenes as nitrogen sources. The chiral 1-azaenolates derived from imidates undergo nucleophilic addition with diazenes to give α-hydrazino imidates in good yields.
