Abstract
The capture and fixation of CO2 under mild conditions is a cost-effective route to reduce greenhouse gases, but it is challenging because of the low conversion and selectivity issues. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising in the fields of adsorption and catalysis because of their structural tunability and variability. However, the precise structural design of MOFs is always pursued and elusive. In this work, a metal-mixed MOF (SNNU-97-InV) was designed by precisely introducing single vanadium site into the isostructural In-MOF (SNNU-97-In). The single V sites clearly change the interactions between the MOF framework and CO2 molecules, leading to a 71.3% improvement in the CO2 adsorption capacity. At the same time, the enhanced light absorption enables SNNU-97-InV to efficiently convert CO2 into cyclic carbonates (CCs) with epoxides under illumination. Controlled experiments showed that the promoted performance of SNNU-97-InV may be that the V═O site can more easily combine with CO2 and convert them into an intermediate state under illumination, and the possible mechanism was thus speculated.

Abstract
Much endeavor has been devoted to efficient heterogeneous catalysts for carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion to high-value chemicals. Meanwhile, the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides is considered as a green and atom-economy reaction to produce cyclic carbonates. Herein, a series of K, B co-doped CN with various doping contents (K, B-CN-X) were developed by simple one-step calcination of melamine and KBH4. B was confirmed to replace the C site and KN bond was formed, which was verified by XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and DFT (density functional theory) calculation. Particularly, K, B-CN-4 displayed the optimal catalytic performance in the presence of Bu4NBr (tetrabutylammonium bromide) cocatalyst for the CO2 cycloaddition with propylene oxide. Besides, K, B-CN-4/Bu4NBr catalyst exhibited good substrate versatility to various epoxides and excellent recycling performance. According to the DFT calculation on CO2 adsorption and experimental results, K, B-CN-4 presented satisfactory catalytic activity due to the enhanced CO2 adsorption after K and B dopings then the possible reaction mechanism was proposed. The promising K, B-CN-X catalyst presented an attractive application due to the simple, eco-friendly synthesis route for the efficient fixation of CO2.

Abstract
In this work we have achieved epoxide to cyclic carbonate conversion using a metal-free polymeric catalyst under ambient CO2 pressure (1.02 atm) using a balloon setup. The triazine containing polymer (CYA-ANIS) was prepared from cyanuric chloride (CYA-Cl) and o-dianisidine (ANIS) in anhydrous DMF as solvent by refluxing under the N2 gas environment. The presence of triazine and amine functional groups in the polymer results in the adsorption of CO2 up to 7 cc/g at 273 K. This inspired us to utilize the polymer for the conversion of a series of functionalised epoxides into their corresponding cyclic carbonates in the presence of tetrabutyl ammonium iodide (TBAI) as co-catalyst. The product has wide range of applications like solvent in lithium ion battery, precursor for polycarbonate, etc. The catalyst was efficient for the conversion of different mono and di-epoxides into their corresponding cyclic carbonates under atmospheric pressure in the presence of TBAI as co-catalyst. The study indicates that epoxide attached with electron withdrawing groups (like, CH2 Cl, glycidyl ether, etc.) displayed better conversion compared to simple alkane chain attached epoxides. This is mainly due to the stabilization of electron rich intermediates produced during the reaction (e. g. epoxide ring opening or CO2 incorporation into the halo-alkoxide anion). This catalyst mixture was capable to maintain its reactivity up to five cycles without losing its activity. Post catalytic characterization clearly supports the heterogeneous and recyclable nature of the catalyst.

Abstract
Carbon nitride (CN), a 2D material composed of only carbon (C) and nitrogen (N), which are linked by strong covalent bonds, has been used as a metal-devoid and visible-light-active photocatalyst owing to its magnificent optoelectronic and physicochemical properties including suitable bandgap, adjustable energy-band positions, tailor-made surface functionalities, low cost, metal-free nature, and high thermal, chemical, and mechanical stabilities. CN-based materials possess a lot of advantages over conventional metal-based inorganic photocatalysts including ease of synthesis and processing, versatile functionalization or doping, flexibility for surface engineering, low cost, sustainability, and recyclability without any leaching of toxic metals from photocorrosion. Carbon nitrides and their hybrid materials have emerged as attractive candidates for CO2 capture and its reduction into clean and green low-carbon fuels and valuable chemical feedstock by using sustainable and intermittent renewable energy sources of sunlight and electricity through the heterogeneous photo(electro)catalysis. Here, the latest research results in this field are summarized, including implementation of novel functionalized nanostructured CNs and their hybrid heterostructures in meeting the stringent requirements to raise the efficiency of the CO2 reduction process by using state-of-the-art photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, and feedstock reactions. The research in this field is primarily focused on advancement in the synthesis of nanostructured and functionalized CN-based hybrid heterostructured materials. More importantly, the recent past has seen a surge in studies focusing significantly on exploring the mechanism of their application perspectives, which include the behavior of the materials for the absorption of light, charge separation, and pathways for the transport of CO2 during the reduction process.
