Abstract
Reduction of ArBIG-bian with metallic Sm or Yb affords monomeric Ln(ii) complexes. In (ArBIG-bian)Sm, the metal reveals a low coordination number. The stabilization of the Sm center is provided by interaction with three Ph rings.
