Abstract
Lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) have unique advantages in sensing due to their excellent optical properties. In this study, we synthesized a dicarboxylic acid ligand with amide groups and successfully synthesized a novel two-dimensional (2D) MOF with the molecular formula C42H31EuN4O10 (Eu-MOF) by a solvothermal method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction showed that amide groups are exposed on the outside of the two-dimensional coordination layer, with the possibility of recognizing specific molecules through hydrogen bonding interactions. The ligand's "antenna effect" enables Eu-MOF to emit a strong luminescence characterized by the "f-f" transition. Further studies have revealed that Eu-MOF could be used as a bifunctional fluorescent probe for the selective detection of benzaldehyde and Fe3+. The sensing mechanism has been analyzed in detail through powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis, UV-vis spectroscopy, fluorescence lifetime measurement, and density functional (DFT) theory calculation. This design and research can provide a reference for subsequent related work.

Alginate-modified surfactants functionalized metal-organic framework-based fluorescent film sensors for detection and adsorption of volatile aldehydes in water. Int J Biol Macromol 2024; 259:129080. Abstract
Volatile aldehydes have an adverse impact on both human health and the environment, therefore, a fast, straightforward, highly accurate detection technique for the simultaneous detection and removal of several aldehydes is eagerly anticipated. Herein, novel APGF@ZIF-8 and APOF@ZIF-8 sensing materials were developed by coating fluorescent alginate-modified surfactants (APGF and APOF) into the ZIF-8 MOFs to produce quite porous fluorescent sensors (SBET up to 1519 m2/g). The detection capacity of the prepared sensors for benzaldehyde, glyoxal, formaldehyde, and acetaldehyde has been examined. The detection mechanism was suggested as hydrogen bonding formation between the sensors and volatile aldehydes as confirmed by Gaussian calculations. All the fluorescence spectra of aldehydes display remarkable linear detection relationships in the range of 0.05-200 μM with the limits of detection (LOD) values in the range of 0.001-0.18 μM (0.106-10.44 ppb). These sensors were utilized successfully to detect multiple volatile aldehydes in river water samples with satisfactory recoveries of 96-107 %. Interestingly, fluorescent APGF@ZIF-8/CS and APOF@ZIF-8/CS films as portable disposable removal techniques for benzaldehyde, glyoxal, formaldehyde, and acetaldehyde from water were fabricated. APOF@ZIF-8/CS exhibited an excellent formaldehyde adsorption capacity of 58.30 mg/g and an adsorption removal efficiency of 93.5 %. The adsorption process of biosorbent on various aldehydes was fitted by Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The adsorption kinetics followed Pseudo-second-order kinetic model.

Abstract
Two novel lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with the formulas [Tb(bidc)(Hbidc)(H2O)]n (JXUST-20) and {[Tb3(bidc)4(HCOO)(DMF)]·solvents}n (JXUST-21) were synthesized based on 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole-4,7-dicarboxylic acid (H2BTDC) under solvothermal conditions. Interestingly, benzimidazole-4,7-dicarboxylic acid (H2bidc) was formed in situ using H2BTDC as the starting material. The self-assembly process of the targeted MOFs with different topological structures can be controlled by the solvents and concentration of the reactants. Luminescence experiments show that JXUST-20 and JXUST-21 exhibit strong yellow-green emission. JXUST-20 and JXUST-21 can selectively sense benzaldehyde (BzH) via a luminescence quenching effect with detection limits of 15.3 and 1.44 ppm, respectively. In order to expand the practical application of MOF materials, mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) have been constructed by mixing targeted MOFs and poly(methyl methacrylate) in a N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) solution, which can also be used for BzH vapor sensing. Therefore, the first case of MMMs derived from TbIII MOFs has been developed for the reversible detection of BzH vapor, providing a simple and efficient platform for the future detection of volatile organic compounds.

Abstract
A new polydentate tetracarboxylic acid with a benzothiadiazole unit (4',4'''-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)bis([1,1'-biphenyl]-3,5-dicarboxylic acid), H4BTDBA) has been used to prepare a pH-stable three-dimensional TbIII-based metal-organic framework (MOF) with the formula {[(CH3)2NH2]0.7[Tb2(BTDBA)1.5(lac)0.7(H2O)2]·solvents}n (Hlac = lactic acid, JXUST-19). JXUST-19 exhibits a new (4,4,12)-connected topology based on tetranuclear [Tb4] clusters. JXUST-19 can remain stable when soaked in water for at least 1 week and in aqueous solutions with various pH values (2-12) for 24 h. Fluorescence study indicates JXUST-19 can be employed as a rare turn-on and blue-shift MOF sensor toward benzaldehyde (BZ) and salicylaldehyde (SA). To date, JXUST-19 represents the first TbIII-based turn-on MOF sensor toward salicylaldehyde in aqueous solution, and the fluorescence enhancement and naked-eye detection of BZ have been rarely reported. In addition, JXUST-19 based fluorescent test papers, light-emitting diode lamp beads, and portable composite films were developed to realize naked-eye detection of BZ and SA, which has great potential in practical applications.

Abstract
Umami substances can increase the overall taste of food and bring pleasure to people. However, it is still challenging to identify the umami molecules through virtual screening due to the crystal structure of the umami receptor being undefined. Herein, based on the hypothesis that the molecules with bitter and sweet taste characteristics may be umami molecules, this study proposed an in silico method to identify novel umami-tasting molecules in batch from SWEET-DB and BitterDB databases via the QSAR models, PCA, molecular docking and electronic tongue analysis. In total, 169 potential umami molecules were identified through QSAR modeling, PCA, and molecular docking. Of the 169 molecules, 18 were randomly selected, and all were identified as umami molecules via electronic tongue analysis. Among the 18 chosen molecules, 10 molecules could be traced back to their concentration range in food, and finally, 8 molecules were predicted to be nontoxic. This work provides a simple and efficient strategy to identify novel umami molecules, holding an excellent promise for demonstrating the crystal structure of umami receptors and taste-sensing mechanisms. Furthermore, this study opens the possibility for the practical application of new umami molecules in food.

Abstract
Two luminescent Cd(II)-organic frameworks [Cd2(L1)(tdc)2(H2O)]n (1) and [Cd(L2)0.5(tdc)]n (2) (L1 = 1,5-bis(1-(pyridine-4-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)pentane, L2 = 1,6-bis(1-(pyridine-4-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)hexane, and H2tdc = 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid) were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. 1 displays a rare binodal (3,4)-connected 2D cem-d network, while 2 exhibits a 3D mog (moganite) framework. The two MOFs are highly thermally durable and water-stable in a wide pH range from 3 to 12. Interestingly, 1 and 2 represent the first reported examples of multi-responsive probes based on MOFs for selectively detecting levofloxacin, benzaldehyde, and Fe3+ ions with reusability. The luminescence sensing mechanisms of the two CPs were explored in detail.

Abstract
Volatile aldehydes cause great harm to human health and the living environment, and the detection of aldehydes has attracted much attention from chemists and material scientists. In recent years, as one of the most promising classes of functional materials, luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) have bloomed as fluorescent sensors for the detection of aldehydes. Herein, the sensing properties of LMOF sensors toward formaldehyde, benzaldehyde, acetaldehyde and other aldehydes have been reviewed, and the sensing mechanism and applications are also illustrated. Additionally, the current status and its potential development prospects in this field are outlined.

Abstract
Effective detection of organic/inorganic pollutants, such as antibiotics, nitro-compounds, excessive Fe3+ and MnO4 - , is crucial for human health and environmental protection. Here, a new terbium(III)-organic framework, namely [Tb(TATAB)(H2 O)]⋅2H2 O (Tb-MOF, H3 TATAB=4,4',4''-s-triazine-1,3,5-triyltri-m-aminobenzoic acid), was assembled and characterized. The Tb-MOF exhibits a water-stable 3D bnn framework. Due to the existence of competitive absorption, Tb-MOF has a high selectivity for detecting Fe3+ , MnO4 - , 4-nirophenol and nitroimidazole (ronidazole, metronidazole, dimetridazole, ornidazole) in aqueous through luminescent quenching. The results suggest that Tb-MOF is a simple and reliable reagent with multiple sensor responses in practical applications. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first TbIII -based MOF as an efficient fluorescent sensor for detecting metal ions, inorganic anions, nitro-compounds, and antibiotics simultaneously.

Abstract
A new ABW-type luminescent metal–organic framework (MOF) namely (H3O)[Zn2L(H2O)]·3NMP·6H2O (1), constructed with eco-friendly Zn2+ and the multicarboxylate intraligand (LH5) was designed, synthesized and fully characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, steady-state absorption and emission spectroscopy, and SEM observations. The MOF-based suspension sensor 1 (NMP) demonstrated high sensitivity to low-concentration pesticides of chlorothalonil (CTL), nitrofen (NF), trifluralin (TFL), and 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline (DCN), which was assigned to the synergistic effect of the photoinduced electron transfer and the fluorescence resonance energy transfer. With the highest luminescent detection efficiency (KSV up to 11.194 μmol−1 and LOD down to 2.93 ppm) to DCN, 1 (NMP) was successfully applied for the selective sensing of DCN. The MOF-based film sensor 1 (film) illustrated the selective visualization sensing of trace amounts of DCN. In addition, based on the high saturated vapor pressure of TFL and the unique bathochromic shift effect to the emission maxima of 1, the MOF-based luminescent vapor sensing device 1 (LED) successfully exhibited operability for sensing of TFL vapor. The results illustrated a feasible approach to construct new MOF-based luminescent sensors for selective sensing and visualization of pesticides. A novel ABW-type luminescent metal–organic framework was applied for selective visualization sensing of trace amounts of 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline and vapor sensing of trifluralin.![]()
