Abstract
The advancement of sustainable chemistry and changes in the economy are strongly intertwined. Reaction time, cost savings, moderate temperatures, and generation of the fewest byproducts are frequently achieved by using catalytic processes. Herein, we report the C-H olefination of imidazo[1,2a] pyridine carboxamides with various acrylates in the presence of Pd (OAc)2 with O2 as the oxidant in aqueous ethanol rather than using non-ecofriendly solvents. The C-H activation features most user-friendly reaction conditions, excellent yield as well as plenty substrate scope and applicable for C-H deuteriation of the corresponding heteroarenes with D2O. Experimental mechanistic studies indicate that C-H activation step succeeded after formation of tetra coordinated square planer Pd-substrate adduct.

Abstract
An efficient and green route of C-C bond formation was disclosed to construct 2,3-diaryl-1,4-diketones from α-methylene ketones by the catalysis of tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as an oxidant in water. This reaction affords the desired products in good to excellent yields from readily available materials, with a broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, tetrasubstituted furan and pyrrole were smoothly constructed from α-methylene ketones in one pot with 96 and 90% yields, respectively.

Abstract
Mandelic acids represent a key structural motif present in many drug molecules. Herein, we report the controlled meta-selective mono- and diolefination of mandelic acids by the careful design of the substrate and oxidant. Furthermore, free meta-functionalized mandelic acid was generated by selectively removing the template under mild basic conditions. The synthesis of functionalized homatropine and cyclandelate drug derivatives was demonstrated. Kinetic isotope effects revealed C-H activation as the rate-limiting step.

Abstract
Functionalization of the bio-relevant heterocycles 2-arylbenzo[d]oxazole and 2-arylbenzo[d]thiazole has been achieved through Ru(II)-catalyzed alkenylation with unactivated olefins leading to selective formation of the mono-alkenylated products. This approach has a broad substrate scope with respect to the coupling partners, affords high yields, and works for gram scale synthesis using a readily available Ru-based catalyst. Mechanistic studies reveal a C-H activation pathway for the dehydrogenative coupling leading to the alkenylation. However, the results of the ESI-MS-guided deuterium kinetic isotope effect studies indicate that the C-H activation stage may not be the rate-determining step of the reaction. The use of a radical scavenging agent such as TEMPO did not show any detrimental effect on the reaction outcome, eliminating the possibility of the involvement of a free-radical pathway.

Abstract
We here report a condition-controlled divergent synthesis strategy of chalcones, quinolones and indoles, which was achieved via a C-H activation reaction of N-nitrosoanilines and cyclopropenones. Variations of Ag salts are observed to be crucial for divergently constructing the three distinct chemical scaffolds. A Rh(i)- and Rh(iii)-cocatalyzed decarbonylation/C-H activation/[3+2] annulation cascade reaction was developed for the synthesis of indoles. These methodologies are characterized by mild reaction conditions, high functional group tolerance, and amenability to gram-scale synthesis, providing a reference for future derivation of new chemical scaffolds by C-H activation.

Abstract
In this study, controlled mono and di-olefination of arenes was first realized at room temperature via the C-H bond activation in ionic liquids, probably due to the positive effects of ionic liquids. It is an energy-saving routes in industrial production without the need for heating equipment. Different catalysts were screened, and it was found that [Ru(p-cymene)Cl2]2 generated mono-olefinated products predominantly while [Cp*RhCl2]2 selectively gave di-olefinated products. These catalysts ([BMIM]NTf2 and [BMIM]PF6) as green and recyclable reaction media are highly efficient under mild conditions. This reaction process can avoid any volatile and environmentally toxic organic solvents, and is much safer without the need for pressure-tight equipment. A wide substrate scope with good yields and satisfactory selectivity was achieved. The reactions can be scaled up to gram-scale. Furthermore, an expensive rhodium/ruthenium catalytic system was recycled for at least 6 times with consistently high catalytic activity, which was economical and environmental friendly from an industrial point of view. According to the mechanistic study, the C-H bond cleavage was probably achieved via the concerted metalation-deprotonation. This technique can be applied in the synthesis of various valuable unsaturated aromatic compounds and shows a great potential for industrial production.

Abstract
An atom-economical and environmentally benign approach for the synthesis of indole-substituted 1,4-naphthoquinones from indoles and 1,4-naphthoquinones using readily available Lewis acidic B(C6F5)3 in water and with the recycling of water and part of the catalyst is reported. The reaction proceeded through the B(C6F5)3-catalyzed C(sp2)-H and C(sp2)-H bond coupling of 1,4-naphthoquinones with the C-3 position of indole derivatives in water. This methodology provides a facile protocol for the synthesis of some new indole-substituted 1,4-naphthoquinones in satisfactory yields and with a broad substrate scope. When compared to known methods for the synthesis of indole-substituted 1,4-naphthoquinones, this protocol is practical and efficient and does not require a transition-metal catalyst or toxic organic solvents. In addition, we utilized a simple filtration process for complete recycling of the solvent and the part of the catalyst in each reaction cycle.
