Abstract
A practical NaI/PPh3-catalyzed decarboxylative radical cascade cyclization of N-arylacrylamides with redox-active esters is described, which is mediated by visible light irradiation. A wide range of substrates bearing different substituents and derived from ubiquitous carboxylic acids, including α-amino acids, were synthesized and examined under this very mild, efficient, and cost effective transition-metal-free synthetic method. These afforded various functionalized oxindoles featuring a C3 quaternary stereogenic center. Mechanistic experiments suggest a radical mechanism.

Abstract
The quest to find milder and more sustainable methods to generate highly reactive, carbon-centred intermediates has led to a resurgence of interest in radical chemistry. In particular, carboxylic acids are seen as attractive radical precursors due their availability, low cost, diversity, and sustainability. Moreover, the corresponding nucleophilic carbon-radical can be easily accessed through a favourable radical decarboxylation process, extruding CO2 as a traceless by-product. This review summarizes the recent progress on using carboxylic acids directly as convenient radical precursors for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds via the 1,4-radical conjugate addition (Giese) reaction.

Abstract
The geminal difluorocyclobutane core is a valuable structural element in medicinal chemistry. Strategies for gem-difluorocyclobutanes, especially the 2-substituted cases, are limiting and often suffer from harsh reaction conditions. Reported herein is a migratory gem-difluorination of aryl-substituted methylenecycloproanes (MCPs) for the synthesis of 2-arylsubstituted gem-difluorocyclobutanes. Commercially available Selectfluor (F-TEDA-BF4) and Py·HF were used as the fluorine sources. The protocol proceeds via a Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement with mild reaction conditions, good functional group tolerance, and moderate to good yields. The product could be readily transformed to gem-difluorocyclobutane-containing carboxylic acid, amine, and alcohol, all of which are useful building blocks for biologically active molecule synthesis.

Abstract
A practical and efficient method for the synthesis of α-fluorothioacrylamide was developed from selective defluorinative sulfuration of trifluoropropanamides with disulfides. The N-chelation-assisted copper-catalyzed defluorination and sulfurization reactions feature excellent functional group tolerance and incorporation of both sulfur atoms of disulfides into acrylamides.

Abstract
A general procedure for the tandem arylation reaction of arylbromide with heteroaryl compounds was developed by using Pd(PPh3)2Cl2/(±)-BINAP (1,1′-Binaphthalene-2,2′-diylbis (diphenylphosphane)) as catalytic system. Both sulphur- and oxygen-containing heterocycles were also employed as an efficient reagent for arylation, which gave moderate to excellent yields with moderate to good regioselectivities (5:1 to > 20:1 ir (isomer ratio)). Except for dihydrobenzofurans, indolines and indolinones, this type of tandem reaction was also expanded to synthesize isochromanes. The synthesized new compounds were well characterized through different spectroscopic techniques, such as 1H and 13C NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance), and mass spectral analysis.
