A new trifluoromethylated sulfonamide phosphine ligand for Ag(i)-catalyzed enantioselective [3 + 2] cycloaddition of azomethine ylides

Dinuclear Zinc-Catalyzed Asymmetric Desymmetrization of Cyclopentendiones: Access to Functional Cyclopentanediones Bearing an All-carbon Quaternary Stereocenter

The success in the identification of the two enantioisomeric surfaces of electrophiles by dinuclear zinc catalysts is disclosed. This protocol realizes a dinuclear zinc-cocatalyzed desymmetrization of cyclopentendiones using α-hydroxy aryl ketones as nucleophiles through Michael addition reaction. Under mild conditions, a series of functional cyclopentanediones bearing multiple stereogenic centers including an all-carbon quaternary stereocenter, were obtained in moderate to good yields with excellent stereoselectivities.

Asymmetric synthesis of aryl-substituted pyrrolidines by using CFAM ligand-AgOAc chiral system via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction

We have prepared a ligand library based on a ferrocenyl aziridinyl methanol core unit (simply called FAM) having a phenyl group, a cyclohexyl group, and a naphthyl group to be used in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (1,3-DC) reactions for the synthesis of chiral pyrrolidines. These chiral ligands were used with AgOAc in 1,3-DC reactions taking place between the aryl-substituted azomethine ylides and N-methylmaleimide as the dipolarophile. In each case, the expected aryl-substituted pyrrolidines were obtained in good to excellent yields with acceptable enantioselectivities favoring only the endo product. The chiral catalyst system CFAM4-AgOAc was also used in 1,3-DC reaction with different dipolarophiles such as dimethyl maleate, tert-butyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, trans-chalcone, and vinyl sulfone. In each case, the cycloadducts were obtained in acceptable yields albeit with low ee. Fortunately, it was possible to increase the ee up to >99% upon crystallization.

Enantioselective difunctionalization of alkenes by a palladium-catalyzed Heck/borylation sequence

A palladium catalyzed enantioselective Heck/borylation reaction of alkene-tethered aryl iodides was realized, delivering a variety of 2,3-dihydrobenzofuranyl boronic esters in high yield with excellent enantioselectivity. Asymmetric synthesis of chromane boronic ester, indane boronic ester and indoline boronic ester was also accomplished. The protocol offers an efficient access to the corresponding chiral benzocyclic boronic esters, which are notably important chemical motifs in synthetic transformations.

Recent Advances in the Development of Chiral Gold Complexes for Catalytic Asymmetric Catalysis

Asymmetric gold catalysis has been rapidly developed in the past ten years. Breakthroughs have been made by rational design and meticulous selection of chiral ligands. This review summarizes newly developed gold-catalyzed enantioselective organic transformations and recent progress in ligand design (since 2016), organized according to different types of chiral ligands, including bisphosphine ligands, monophosphine ligands, phosphite-derived ligands, and N-heterocyclic carbene ligands for asymmetric gold(I) catalysis as well as heterocyclic carbene ligands and oxazoline ligands for asymmetric gold(III) catalysis.

Catalytic asymmetric synthesis of diazabicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides with azirines

Substituted 1,3-diazabicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes with two contiguous quaternary stereocentres are readily prepared by catalytic asymmetric [3+2] cycloaddition of α-substituted iminoesters with azirines. High diastereoselectivities and enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee) are achieved using Cu^I/(R)-Fesulphos as the catalytic system.
