Abstract
A convenient method for oxidant-promoted radical cascade acylation or decarbonylative alkylation of 1,7-dienes with aldehydes has been established. This method allows for the rapid construction of N-containing polycyclic skeletons in a highly regio- and stereoselective manner. This transformation provides a simple and efficient method for the preparation of a range of tetrahydro-6H-indeno[2,1-c]quinolinone derivatives by sequential formation of three new carbon-carbon bonds. Additionally, this radical cascade cyclization can selectively convert aldehydes into aroyl/primary aliphatic acyl radicals and secondary or tertiary alkyl radicals.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative/decarboxylative phosphorylation of aryl acrylic acids with P(III)-nucleophiles via the Michaelis-Arbuzov rearrangement for the synthesis of β-ketophosphine oxides, β-ketophosphinates, and β-ketophosphonates is reported. The present reaction could be conducted effectively without the use of a ligand and a base. Various kinds of aryl acrylic acids and P(III)-nucleophiles are tolerated in the transformation, generating the desired β-keto-organophosphorus compounds as a valuable class of phosphorus-containing intermediates with good to excellent yields. In addition, the possible mechanism and kinetic studies for the reaction have been explored by step-by-step control experiments and competitive experiments, and the results proved that this transformation may follow second-order chemical kinetics as well as involve a radical process.

Abstract
Strained rings are increasingly important for the design of pharmaceutical candidates, but cross-coupling of strained rings remains challenging. An attractive, but underdeveloped, approach to diverse functionalized carbocyclic and heterocyclic frameworks containing all-carbon quaternary centers is the coupling of abundant strained-ring carboxylic acids with abundant aryl halides. Herein we disclose the development of a nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile approach that couples a variety of strained ring N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHP) esters, derived from the carboxylic acid in one step, with various aryl and heteroaryl halides under reductive conditions. The chemistry is enabled by the discovery of methods to control NHP ester reactivity, by tuning the solvent or using modified NHP esters, and the discovery that t-Bu BpyCamCN , an L2X ligand, avoids problematic side reactions. This method can be run in flow and in 96-well plates.

Abstract
The decarbonylative-coupling reaction is generally promoted by transition metals (via organometallic complexes) or peroxides (via radical intermediates), often at high temperatures to facilitate the CO release. Herein, a visible-light-induced, transition metal and external photosensitizer free decarbonylative addition of benzaldehydes to ketones/aldehydes at room temperature is reported. Tertiary/secondary alcohols were obtained in moderate to excellent yields promoted by using CsF under mild conditions. The detailed mechanistic investigation showed that the reaction proceeded through photoexcitation–decarbonylation of the aldehyde to generate an aromatic anion, followed by its addition to ketones/aldehydes. The reaction mechanism was verified by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. A visible-light-induced, transition-metal and external photosensitizer free decarbonylative addition of benzaldehydes to ketones/aldehydes via anion intermediates at room temperature is developed.![]()

Abstract
This paper describes the synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryls by the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of acyl chlorides with potassium perfluorobenzoates. This transformation is unique in that it involves simultaneous decarbonylation and decarboxylation under redox-neutral conditions. Compared to conventional cross-coupling protocols for the synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryls, the two reactants in this synthetic strategy can be readily prepared from abundant and inexpensive aromatic carboxylic acids.

Abstract
A versatile Rh(i)-catalyzed C6-selective decarbonylative C-H alkenylation of 2-pyridones with readily available, and inexpensive alkenyl carboxylic acids has been developed. This directed dehydrogenative cross-coupling reaction affords 6-alkenylated 2-pyridones that would otherwise be difficult to access using conventional C-H functionalization protocols. The reaction occurs with high efficiency and is tolerant of a broad range of functional groups. A wide scope of alkenyl carboxylic acids, including challenging conjugated polyene carboxylic acids, are amenable to this transformation and no addition of external oxidant is required. Mechanistic studies revealed that (1) Boc2O acts as the activator for the in situ transformation of the carboxylic acids into anhydrides before oxidative addition by the Rh catalyst, (2) a decarbonylation step is involved in the catalytic cycle, and (3) the C-H bond cleavage is likely the turnover-limiting step.
