A simple non-extractive green method for the spectrophotometric sequential injection determination of copper(ii) with novel thiazolylazo dyes

Response surface methodology combined Box-Behnken design optimized green kinetic spectrophotometric and HPLC methods to quantify angiotensin receptor blocker valsartan in pharmaceutical formulations

The high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) and kinetic spectrophotometric methods were established to compute valsartan (VAL) in pharmaceutical formulations. The spectrophotometric procedures adopted initial rate, fixed time, and equilibrium strategies to assess VAL. The method was based on the carboxylic acid group of the oxidized VAL with a mixture of potassium iodate (KIO₃) and potassium iodide (KI) at room temperature, producing a stable, yellow-coloured absorb at 352 nm. The critical parameters were optimized using green process optimization methodology such as Box-Behnken design (BBD) which belongs to response surface methodology (RSM). After the screening, experiments identified them as significant, and then three crucial factors were optimised: KI volume, KIO₃ volume, and reaction time against response as absorbance. The HPLC procedure was also optimized based on the desirability function on RSM-BBD. The parameters such as pH, methanol (%), and flow rate (ml/min) were optimized with the best responses: peak area, symmetry, and theoretical plates. The linearity of spectrophotometric and HPLC methods was within the range of 2-24 and 0.25-11.25 µg/ml, respectively. The developed procedures produced excellent accuracy and precision. The design of the experiment (DoE) setting explained and discussed the individual steps and the importance of independent and dependent variables used to develop the model and optimization. The method was validated as per the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. Furthermore, Youden's robustness study was applied with factorial combinations of the preferred analytical parameters and explored their influence with alternative conditions. The analytical Eco-Scale score was calculated and was found a better option as green methods to quantify VAL. The results were reproducible with the analysis completed with biological fluid and wastewater samples.

Voltammetric Determination of Pd(II) Using 5-Hydroxyimino-4-imino-1,3-thiazolidin-2-one after a Thermal Activation of the Interaction

The interaction of Pd(II) with 5-hydroxyimino-4-imino-1,3-thiazolidin-2-one (HITO) was investigated over the pH range of 1.0–10.0. Optimal conditions for the voltammetric determination of Pd(II) were established. A new voltammetric method of Pd(II) determination by the peak of complex using NaCl as a supporting electrolyte at pH 2.0 was developed with the limit of detection 2.0∙10-7 M. The study of the method’s selectivity was presented in the work. The correctness of the method was confirmed by the analysis of model solutions and the real sample (resistor SP5-35B).

Rhodol-derived turn-on fluorescent probe for copper ions with high selectivity and sensitivity

A new rhodol-derived fluorescent probe 1 with picolinate as the recognition receptor was designed and simply synthesized using a one-step reaction. With the concentration of added Cu²⁺ increases, it gradually turns pink, so the effect of naked eye detection can be achieved. The detection limit of probe 1 for Cu²⁺ is 42 nM, and the linear detection range was 0-2 μM. The experimental results showed that 1 was a fluorescent probe with high selectivity, good water solubility, and high sensitivity to Cu²⁺ . Probe 1 was successfully applied in cell imaging experiments and can detect the concentration of Cu²⁺ in water samples. All these indicate that probe 1 has the potential to be applied to the detection of Cu²⁺ concentration in the real environment.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Palladium(II) Ions Using a New Reagent: 4-(N’-(4-Imino-2-oxo-thiazolidine-5-ylidene)-hydrazino)-benzoic Acid (p-ITYBA)

The simple, rapid spectrophotometric method for palladium(II) ions determination using a new analytical reagent is described. The interaction of Pd(II) ions with a reagent, of the class of azolidones, 4-(N′-(4-imino-2-oxo-thiazolidine-5-ylidene)-hydrazino)-benzoic acid, in water medium results in the formation of a complex. The Pd(II)-p-ITYBA complex shows maximum absorbance at a wavelength of 450 nm. The molar absorptivity is 4.30 × 103 L·mol−1·cm−1. The optimal pH for complex formation is 7.0. The developed method has a wide linearity range of 0.64–10.64 µg·mL−1 for Pd(II). The detection limit is 0.23 µg·mL−1. It was found that Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Fe(III), Cu(II), Al(III), and many anions do not interfere with the Pd(II) determination. The proposed method was tested in the analysis of model solutions and successfully applied for the determination of palladium in catalyst. The obtained results show that this method can be used for serial determinations of palladium in various objects.
