Abstract
The combination of closed bipolar electrodes (cBPE) with electrochemiluminescence (ECL) imaging has demonstrated remarkable capabilities in the field of bioanalysis. Here, we established a cBPE-ECL platform for ultrasensitive detection of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and two-dimensional imaging of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). This cBPE-ECL system consists of a high-density gold nanowire array in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane as the cBPE coupled with ECL of highly luminescent cadmium selenide quantum dots (CdSe QDs) luminophores to achieve cathodic electro-optical conversion. When an enzyme-catalyzed amplification effect of ALP with 4-aminophenyl phosphate monosodium salt hydrate (p-APP) as the substrate and 4-aminophenol (p-AP) as the electroactive probe is introduced, a significant improvement of sensing sensitivity with a detection limit as low as 0.5 fM for ALP on the cBPE-ECL platform can be obtained. In addition, the cBPE-ECL sensing system can also be used to detect cancer cells with an impressive detection limit of 50 cells/mL by labeling ALP onto the EGFR protein on A431 human epidermal cancer cell membranes. Thus, two-dimensional (2D) imaging of the EGFR proteins on the cell surface can be achieved, demonstrating that the established cBPE-ECL sensing system is of high resolution for spatiotemporal cell imaging.

Abstract
Although porphyrins make up a promising class of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) luminophors, their aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) characteristics lead to inferior ECL efficiency (ΦECL). Furthermore, current application of porphyrins is limited to cathodic emission. This work creatively exploited a cage-like porous complex (referred to as SWU-1) as the microreactor to recede the ACQ effect while modulating dual ECL emission of meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphine (TCPP), which self-assembled with SWU-1 to form TCPP@SWU-1 nanocapsules (TCPP@SWU-1 NCs). As the microreactor, SWU-1 not only effectively constrained TCPP aggregation to improve electron-hole recombination efficiency but also improved stability of anion and cation radicals, thus significantly enhancing the dual emission of TCPP. Compared with TCPP aggregates, the resulting TCPP@SWU-1 NCs exhibited significantly enhanced anodic and cathodic emission, and their ΦECL was increased by 8.7-fold and 3.9-fold, respectively. Furthermore, black hole quencher-2 (BHQ2) can simultaneously quench anodic and cathodic signals. TCPP@SWU-1 NCs coupling BHQ2 conveniently achieved an ECL ratio detection of miRNA-126, and the limit of detection (S/N = 3) was 4.1 aM. This work pioneered the development of the cage-like porous complex SWU-1 as the microreactor to alleviate defects of the ACQ effect and mediate dual emission of TCPP. The coupling of dual-emitting TCPP@SWU-1 NCs and dual-function moderator BHQ2 created a novel single-luminophor-based ratio system for bioanalysis and provided a promising ECL analysis approach for miRNA-126.

Abstract
Constructing mono-luminophor-based electrochemiluminescence (ECL) ratio system is a great challenge due to the limitations of the luminescent species with dual-signal-output, luminescence efficiency and coreactant. This work developed carboxyl-functionalized poly[9,9-bis(3'-(N,N-dimethylamino) propyl)-2,7-fluorene]-alt-2,7-(9,9 dioctylfluorene)] nanoparticles(PFN NPs) as dual-emitting luminophors, which can synchronously output strong cathodic and anodic ECL signals without any exogenous coreactants. The inherent molecular structure enabled efficient intramolecular electron transfer between tertiary amine groups and backbone of PFN to generate strong cathodic and anodic ECL emission. Particularly, H+ in aqueous solution played an irreplaceable role for cathodic ECL emission. The silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were developed as signal regulator because of their excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity, which significantly quenched the cathodic signal while kept the anodic signal unchanged. The dual-emitting PFN NPs cleverly integrated signal regulator AgNPs and bicyclic strand displacement amplification (SDA) to construct a coreactant-free mono-luminophor-based ratiometric ECL sensing for SARS-CoV-2 RdRp gene assay. The strong dual-emitting of PFN NPs and excellent quenching effect of AgNPs on cathodic emission endowed the biosensor with a high detection sensitivity, and the detection limit was as low as 39 aM for RdRp gene. The unique dual-emitting properties of PFN NPs open up a new path to construct coreactant-free mono-luminophor-based ECL ratio platform, and excellent HER activity of AgNPs offers some new thoughts for realizing ECL signal changes.

Abstract
A novel sandwich electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor based on aggregation-induced electrochemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (AIECL-RET) was designed for the sensitive detection of amyloid β42 (Aβ42). The synthesized silver nanoparticle-functionalized zinc metal-organic framework (Ag@ZnPTC) and gold nanoparticle-functionalized zirconium organic framework (Au@UiO-66-NH2) were used as the ECL donor and acceptor, respectively. AgNPs were generated in situ on the surface of ZnPTC, which further improved the ECL intensity and the loading of antibody 1 (Ab1). Under the optimized experimental conditions, the linear detection range of Aβ42 concentration was 10 fg/mL to 100 ng/mL, and the detection limit was 2.4 fg/mL (S/N = 3). The recoveries of Aβ42 were 99.5-104%. The method has good stability, repeatability, and specificity. Ag@ZnPTC/Au@UiO-66-NH2 provides an assay for the sensitive detection of disease biomarkers.

Abstract
Vitamin P (VP) known as rutin is one of the common flavonoids, which widely exists in fruits and vegetables and often used as a dietary additive. The rapid and accurate detection of VP in food matrices is critical for evaluating food quality and guiding diet. Herein, a rapid, accurate, and selective detection scheme for VP in fruit samples was proposed for the first time using ionic liquid-based carbon dots (IL-CDs). The synthesized IL-CDs exhibited great biocompatibility and excellent optical properties including high fluorescence intensity, high quantum yield, and good fluorescence stability. Through an internal filtering effect (IFE), VP could greatly reduce the fluorescence of these CDs. In the present study, this probe demonstrated good sensitivity and excellent selectivity toward VP with a low detection limit of 60.0 nmol/L. Moreover, this approach was effectively applied to detect VP in food samples with a recovery range of 97 % to 119 %. More interestingly, the results of cell imaging suggested that IL-CDs were expected to be promising material for bioimaging.

Abstract
The family of electrochemiluminescent luminophores has witnessed quick development since the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) phenomenon of silicon nanoparticles was first reported in 2002. Moreover, these developed ECL nanoemitters have extensively been applied in sensitive detection of protein biomarker by combining with immunological recognition. This review firstly summarized the origin and development of various ECL nanoemitters including inorganic and organic nanomaterials, with an emphasis on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-based ECL nanoemitters. Several effective strategies to amplify the ECL response of nanoemitters and improve the sensitivity of immunosensing were discussed. The application of ECL nanoemitters in immunoassay of protein biomarkers for diagnosis of cancers and other diseases, especially lung cancer and heart diseases, was comprehensively presented. The recent development of ECL imaging with the nanoemitters as ECL tags for detection of multiplex protein biomarkers on single cell membrane also attracted attention. Finally, the future opportunities and challenges in the ECL biosensing field were highlighted.

Abstract
A ratiometric electrochemiluminescence strategy using a single luminophore for accurate and sensitive biomolecule detection could be immensely valuable in bioanalysis. Herein, an ultrasensitive ratiometric electrochemiluminescence sensing system was fabricated using a self-enhanced luminophore with dual-signal emission for the detection of spermine. A nanocomposite was synthesized by the covalent attachment of N, N-diisopropylethylenediamine onto glutathione-protected Au-Ag bimetallic nanoclusters (DPEA-GSH@Au/Ag BNCs). The nanocomposite exhibited efficient intra-cluster charge transfer to produce strong anodic self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence emission at 0.8 V without external co-reactants. Interestingly, the DPEA@GSH@Au-Ag BNCs exhibited cathodic electrochemiluminescence emission upon the addition of the co-reactant potassium persulfate at -1.6 V, exhibiting stable and efficient dual-signal electrochemiluminescence emission features at a continuous potential window of -1.75 to 1.2 V. Thus, they were used to fabricate a single-luminophore electrochemiluminescence sensor with dual emission. The cathodic emission of the biosensor gradually increased with increasing concentrations of spermine, whereas the anodic electrochemiluminescence intensity remained almost constant, enabling the ratiometric detection of spermine. The fabricated biosensor, with an internal standard, significantly improved the accuracy and reliability of spermine detection in a wide concentration range of 0.85 pM-100 μM, with a low limit of detection of 0.12 pM (S/N = 3) under optimum conditions. This single-luminophore electrochemiluminescence sensing system could be used for the detection of spermine and could guide the construction of ratiometric electrochemiluminescence sensors in the future.

Abstract
To address the urgent demand for sensitive and stable detection applications, significant efforts have been made in the development of dual-signal readout assays for precise target detection and timely health risk control. Here, a new nanomaterial, Pt@PCN-224-HRP-initiator DNA (PP-HRP-iDNA), was exploited to construct a dual-signal readout biosensing platform. Zr-MOF (PCN-224) was loaded with as many Pt nanoparticles (NPs) and as much horseradish peroxidase (HRP) as possible to enhance the brightness of the colorimetric signal recognizable to the naked eye while also acting as a gatekeeper to protect the enzyme activity and ensuring the stability of the assay process. Moreover, the Pt NPs and HRP displayed a synergistic catalytic effect, which promoted the sensitivity of detection. Further, the formation of the Zr-O-P bond eliminated the instability of the interactions between PCN-224 and iDNA in a controllable manner. After the immunoreaction, iDNA stimulated a hybridization chain reaction, resulting in a significant reduction of the fluorescent DNA in the supernatant and a fluorescent signal change. Subsequently, the PP-HRP-iDNA probe implemented UV-light response (450 nm) where 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine was used as a substrate for the colorimetric signal readout. By virtue of the nanomaterial-modulated transduction mechanism and the antigen-antibody interactions, this dual-signal biosensor displays high sensitivity, with a limit of detection of 0.65 pg/mL for aflatoxin B1 and 4 CFU/mL for Salmonella enteritidis, suggesting the detection potential of the biosensing platform for analyzing various targets.

Dual-emitting Iridium nanorods combining dual-regulating coreaction accelerator Ag nanoparticles for electrochemiluminescence ratio determination of amyloid-β oligomers. Abstract
Iridium(III) complexes have been developed as eminent electrochemiluminescence (ECL) luminophores, but their current applications are only limited to anodic ECL emission because of weak cathodic ECL emission. This work explored poly(styrene-co-maleicanhydride) (PSMA) as functional reagent to modulate iridium(III) complexes to simultaneously emit bipolar ECL signals. The prepared iridium(III) nanorods (Ir NRs) were detected strong bipolar ECL emissions at +0.9 V and -2.0 V with N,N-diisopropylethylenediamine (DPEA) and persulfate (S2O82-) as coreactant, respectively. Meanwhile, Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were developed as dual-regulating coreaction accelerator to boost the bipolar emissions of Ir NRs simultaneously. The dual-emitting Ir NRs coupled with dual-regulating coreaction accelerator Ag NPs facilitated the construction of mono-luminophore-based ECL ratio strategy for detecting amyloid-β oligomers (AβO). When the target AβO appeared, the Mg2+-dependent DNAzyme-powered biped walkers were unlocked to cleave single-stranded S1 immobilized on the surface of magnetic beads (MBs), resulting in the production of massive single-stranded ST. Then, the output ST cleaved hairpin H1 captured by Ir NRs modified electrode to produce numerous single strands, which could initiate the hybridization chain reaction (HCR) between Ag NPs-labeled H2 and Ag NPs-labeled H3 to introduce abundant Ag NPs onto the electrode surface. Due to the enhancement effect of Ag NPs on the bipolar ECL emissions from Ir NRs, the ECL ratio detection of AβO was achieved with the detection limit of 0.62 pM. The unique dual-emitting properties of Ir NRs coupled with dual-regulating effect of Ag NPs provided an interesting mono-luminophore-based ECL ratio sensing platform for biological analysis.

Abstract
Depending on the reaction between walkers and tracks, DNA walker is able to output signals continuously, which has attracted great attention from the bioanalytical community. Therefore, how to improve its reaction kinetics for efficient signal readout is of great significance. Herein, a quadrilateral DNAzyme walker was fabricated by colocalizing one walker and three DNA tracks in the quadrilateral nucleic acid frame to form a reaction unit (abbreviated as qDNA walker). Impressively, in contrast to the common free DNAzyme walker, the reaction kinetics of the qDNA walker was 2.3 times faster, which could achieve microRNA detection within 30 min. Meanwhile, an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emitter of anthracene-cucurbituril supramolecular nanocrystals (Ant-CB SNCs) was obtained based on the self-assembly of cucurbituril (CB, host molecule) and anthracene (Ant, guest molecule). Benefiting from the host-guest recognition effect, the prepared Ant-CB SNCs exhibited enhanced ECL efficiency due to the supramolecular interaction between CB and Ant, which could inhibit vibration and rotation of the Ant molecules. We defined this new enhanced ECL phenomenon as "host-guest recognition-enhanced ECL." As a proof of concept, an ECL biosensor for microRNA-21 (miRNA-21) was constructed by combining the high-efficiency DNAzyme walker and the advanced ECL emitter of Ant-CB SNCs, which showed a linear range from 50 aM to 50 pM with a low limit of detection (11 aM), highlighting the great potential in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
Developing a coreactant-free ratiometric electrochemiluminescence (ECL) strategy based on a single luminophore to achieve more accurate and sensitive microRNA (miRNA) detection is highly desired. Herein, utilizing zinc-metal organic frameworks (Zn-MOFs) as the single luminophore, a novel dual-potential ratiometric ECL biosensor was constructed for ultrasensitive detection of miRNA-133a. The as-prepared Zn-MOFs exhibited simultaneous cathode and anode ECL emission. Furthermore, the Zn-MOFs were confirmed to be a multichannel ECL sensing platform with excellent annihilation and coreactant ECL emission. The corresponding ECL behaviors were investigated in detail. Benefiting from the hybridization chain reaction (HCR) amplification technology, N,N-diethylethylenediamine (DEAEA) was modified on hairpin DNA, and the gained products loaded with quantities of DEAEA enhanced the anodic ECL intensity of Zn-MOFs. In the presence of miRNA-133a, the ECL intensity ratio of anode to cathode (Ia/Ic) was significantly increased, which realized the ultrasensitive ratiometric detection of miRNA-133a. In addition, without an exogenous coreactant, the biosensor revealed superb accuracy and stability. Under optimal conditions, the detection linearity of miRNA-133a was from 50 aM to 50 fM with a low detection limit of 35.8 aM (S/N = 3). This is the first work to use Zn-MOFs as a single emitter for reliable ratiometric ECL bioanalysis, which provides a new perspective for fabricating a ratiometric ECL biosensor platform.

Abstract
Biomolecule-functionalized Au nanoclusters (AuNCs) have drawn great interest in the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) field due to their unique optical/electrical properties, biocompatibility, and versatile bioapplication potentials. Herein, we proposed a two-in-one ECL probe of immunoglobulin G-encapsulated AuNCs (IgG-AuNCs) for the development of a high-performance ECL immunoassay (ECLIA) platform. The IgG-AuNCs were not only used as an ECL probe due to their excellent anodic ECL performance with triethylamine (TEA) as a coreactant but also used as the biorecognition element because of their well-retained bioactivity of the IgG. As a proof of concept, a new type of competitive immunosensing platform has been applied to detect IgG representing several merits of facile preparation, rapid detection, sample saving, and good analytical performance. The sensing platform exhibited a linear range of 0.5-50,000 ng/mL with a limit of detection of 0.06 ng/mL for IgG detection with high selectivity. In addition, this convenient ECLIA platform also performed well in real serum sample detection. Notably, our work not only proved the "two-in-one" immuno-AuNC probe-based ECLIA strategy but also developed a rational framework for study of ECL bioassay platforms based on multifunctional AuNCs and other related nanomaterials.

Abstract
Black phosphorus quantum dots (BPQDs), as a new type of nanomaterial, have excellent electrical and optical properties. In this work, an efficient monitoring method for kanamycin (KAN) was developed based on a sensitive and selective electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor. The construction of the ECL illuminant was based on BPQDs loaded on silver-nanoparticle modified high-luminescence polydopamine nanospheres (HLPNs@Ag). HLPNs possessed a large specific surface area and strong adhesion, which could support a great deal of BPQDs. Meanwhile, Ag NPs could accelerate the electron-transfer (ET) rate of the sensor and amplify the ECL signal of the BPQDs. Based on the synergistic enhancement effects between the above materials, the as-fabricated nanocomposites exhibited superior ECL performance. With the assistance of a KAN aptamer, the sensor can detect KAN sensitively and selectively. Under optimal conditions, the aptasensor could detect KAN in a wide linear range from 1 × 10-12 to 1.0 × 10-7 M with a detection limit of 1.7 × 10-13 M (S/N = 3). More importantly, this ultra-sensitive and rapid ECL aptasensor-based KAN detection system provided excellent applicability for the monitoring of environmental safety.

Abstract
In this research article, a novel and simple label-free electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor using cerium stannite (Ce2Sn2O7) nanocubes as brand-new ECL emitters has been suggested for the first time. Ce2Sn2O7 nanocubes prepared by a simple hydrothermal method displayed bright ECL emission, promising biocompatibility, low noxiousness, and perfect stability. On comparison of ECL and photoluminescence (PL) spectra, a surface-state mechanism was proposed to be involved in the ECL emission. After aminofunctionalization with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES), Ce2Sn2O7 could be decorated with gold nanoparticles through Au-NH2 covalent linkage, which yielded Au@Ce2Sn2O7 nanocomposites and further enhanced the ECL emission. To confirm the proposed immunosensor feasibility, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was employed as an exemplary analyte. Based on the abovementioned points, our fabricated immunosensor improved the ECL performance to CEA concentrations in a linear range of 0.001-70 ng/mL with a low limit of detection of 0.53 pg/mL (S/N = 3). With outstanding stability, reproducibility, and specificity, this method is expected to be an innovative one for sensitive analyses of CEA and other biomarkers in real samples.

Abstract
As a nondegradable environmental pollutant, lead ion (Pb2+) has been proven to be deleterious for environmental and health. Conveniently, quickly and accurately on-site detection of Pb2+ is of paramount importance. Herein, an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) assay protocol using two-dimensional black phosphorus (2D BP) nanoflakes as new ECL emitter for highly sensitive and selective trace Pb2+ was designed on the basis of Pb2+ induced ECL resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) between 2D BP nanoflakes and Ag/AgCl nanocubes. Anodic green ECL emission of BP nanoflakes without any coreactants was achieved. It is noteworthy that the possible ECL mechanism and the influence of coreactants on the ECL behaviour of BP nanoflakes were further investigated. Benefitting from the well match between the ECL emission spectrum of BP nanoflakes (∼510 nm) and the absorption spectrum of Ag/AgCl nanocubes (200-300 nm and 400-700 nm), effective energy transfer yielded. The introduction of Pb2+ would lead to the detachment of Ag/AgCl nanocubes then result in an enhanced ECL emission. Based on this, the proposed method could accurately quantify the Pb2+ in the range from 0.5 pM to 5 nM, which exhibited comparative performance to previous work. Furthermore, this study presents the example of employing 2D BP nanoflakes as ECL emitters and constructing a coreactant-free ECL sensing platform, which might open up a promising route for the potential design and implement in clinical analysis.

Abstract
In vitro diagnosis requires target biomarkers to be reliably detected at an ultralow level. A dual-signal strategy permits self-calibration to overcome the interferences of experimental and environmental factors, and thus is regarded as a promising approach. However, currently reported works mainly concentrated on the same forms of energy of output signals. Herein, we propose a one-step strategy for synthesis of methylene blue-encapsulated zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 (MB@ZIF-90) with high loading, unique dual-signal property, exceptional recognition capability, and good stability, and we further pioneer MB@ZIF-90 as a dual-signal biosensor for label-free, enzyme-free, and ultrasensitive detection of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by integration of fluorescence and homogeneous electrochemical techniques. The recognition of MB@ZIF-90 by target ATP spurs the decomposition of ZIF-90, subsequently permitting MB to be released into a supernatant. As compared to the case where ATP does not exist, obviously increased intensities in fluorescence and differential pulse voltammetry current are observed and both signals are directly proportional to ATP concentrations. Thus, the MB@ZIF-90-based biosensor achieved dual-signal detection of ATP in an ultrasensitive manner and displayed a more reliable diagnosis result than previously reported ATP biosensors. This dual-signal strategy provides a new opportunity to develop high-performance biosensors for in vitro diagnosis and demonstrates great potential for future applications in bioinformatics and clinical medicine.

Abstract
Ratiometric electrochemiluminescence (ECL) has attracted great attention in the field of electrochemical analysis. In this study, a dual-signal-output ratiometric ECL sensor was developed for the detection of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH). Nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) exhibit double ECL signal output capability, without the requirement of additional coreactants. NADH can amplify the anodic ECL response of NGQDs, while it can diminish the cathodic ECL response of NGQDs. Based on the principle between relative enhancing ECL intensity ratio and NADH concentrations, the constructed ratiometric ECL sensor was applied to NADH assays, with a wide concentration range of 10-400 μM and a low limit of detection (LOD) of 2.5 μM (S/N = 3). Furthermore, the proposed method was applied for the determination of spiked NADH, which was proved to be feasible in the biological sample matrix. The proposed strategy of modulating multiple-ECL signals of the single NGQD emitter not only provides a new ECL system for the accurate detection of NADH but also broadens the design pathway for ratiometric sensing fabrication.

Abstract
Herein, Chemiluminescence (CL) behaviour of carbon dots (CDs) was investigated by using H2O2 as co-reactant in alkaline solution. The study demonstrated O2-, OH and 1O2 involved in the CL reaction processes. These reactive oxygen species reacted with CDs to produce CD•+ and CD•-, then the CD•+ reacted with CD•-to generate energy release in the form of CL emission. Importantly, we found that Cu2+ ion could greatly enhanced CL intensity (7.5 times) of CDs-H2O2 system, which was ascribed to Cu2+-catalysed H2O2 decomposition. Based on this system, the CL assay of ascorbic acid (AA) was developed. The limit of detection was as low as 0.03 μM, and the linear range was from 0.1 μM to 100 μM. The proposed method has been successfully utilized to determinate AA in beverage samples with satisfactory results.

Abstract
Flexible and wearable chemical sensors show great capability and potential in retrieving physiologically related chemical or biochemical information from elastic and curvilinear living bodies. However, so far, no flexible electrochemiluminescence (ECL) device has been reported, though ECL measurements have been extensively investigated and widely applied in many fields. Herein, we for the first time designed and fabricated a flexible ECL sensor by immobilizing highly luminescent nanospheres on Au nanotube (Au NT) networks, and subsequently coating an elastic molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) thereon. The as-prepared flexible ECL platform displayed successive and desirable mechanical compliance while generating a very stable ECL signal during deformation, facilitating highly selective detection of physiologically relevant chemicals from bodies. On-body wearable sampling and subsequent detection of lactate and urea from sweat showed the ECL performance of this sensor displaying desirable fidelity, reusability and high stability against disturbance. This work successfully incorporated the ECL sensing model into a flexible and wearable device, therefore providing a promising new path for non-invasively monitoring the products of metabolism for health care and biomedical investigations.

Abstract
A sensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor was developed for glutathione (GSH) detection based on a novel Ru(bpy)2(cpaphen)2+/TPrA/TiO2 ternary ECL system with Mn2+ as substitute target for signal amplification. Specifically, the TiO2 nanoneedles (TiO2 NNs) were used as the coreaction accelerator for the first time to promote the oxidation process of coreactant tripropylamine (TPrA) in the anode and significantly increase the ECL signal of Ru(bpy)2(cpaphen)2+ for an amplified initial signal. Meanwhile, a novel target conversion strategy for GSH was developed by reducing MnO2 nanosheets to Mn2+ as a substitute target, which played the role of a coenzyme factor for cleaving DNA double strands intercalated with Ru(bpy)2(cpaphen)2+ to markedly weaken initial signal. As a result, the novel "on-off" biosensor achieved a sensitive detection of GSH range from 5 μM to 215 μM with a detection limit of 0.33 μM. Importantly, the proposed strategy enriched the application of Ru complex and TPrA ECL system in bioanalytical applications, and provided a new signal amplification strategy for bioactive small molecules.
