Abstract
We reported a chiral oxamide-phosphine ligand (COAP-Ph)-Pd-catalyzed asymmetric [3+2] cycloaddition reaction between vinyl cyclopropane compounds derived from 1,3-indanedione and 2-vinylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylates with cyclic sulfonyl 1-azadienes. The corresponding reactions provided a series of enantiomerically active spiro cyclopentane-indandione and cyclopentane structures bearing three consecutive stereogenic centers in good yields with good diastereo- and enantioselectivity. The COAP-Pd complex serves not only to promote generation of chiral π-allyl-palladium intermediates and induce the asymmetry of the reaction, but also depress the background reaction.

Abstract
A new strategy for access to spirocyclopentenonyl oxindole frameworks is disclosed. Suitably anchored furfuryl alcohol at C3 of an oxindole was used for the aza-Piancatelli rearrangement, which furnished spirocyclic aminocyclopentenone frameworks with catalytic phosphomolybdic acid. The scope of the transformation was extended to the carbo-Piancatelli rearrangement with various indole derivatives.

Abstract
An expeditious synthetic route to access functionalized pyrrolo[2,1-b]quinazoline scaffolds has been achieved via domino ring opening cyclization (DROC) reactions of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes and 2-amino(methyl)aniline derivatives. This novel iron catalyzed transformation is amenable to a wide range of substrates. Three new C-N bonds and two rings were sequentially constructed in this divergent one-pot process. The advantages of simple operation, high yields and general applicability make this procedure highly attractive and practical too.

Abstract
An interesting β-isoquinidine catalyzed divergent reaction was developed to produce either spirocyclopentene oxindoles, spirocyclopentadiene oxindoles or bisoxindoles in a high enantioselective fashion. The utility of this protocol was demonstrated by the versatile transformations of the products. This work not only represents the first highly stereoselective intermolecular catalytic asymmetric allylic alkylation reaction between two isatin-derived MBH carbonate molecules but also constitutes a rare example of isatin-derived MBH carbonate-based enantioselective and α-regioselective [3+2] cycloaddition reactions.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed intermolecular cascade (4+3) cyclocondensation of salicylaldehydes and vinylcyclopropanes is reported. A key feature of the reaction is the use of a phosphonate group as an acceptor moiety on the cyclopropane, exploiting its propensity to undergo olefination with aldehydes. Subsequent O-allylation enabled the formation of a range of substituted benzoxepinsWith a novel chiral ligand, the products were obtained in generally good yield and with reasonable enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Ring-opening transformations of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DAC) with carbon-centered nucleophiles is a simple, straight-forward approach to 1,3-bifunctional compounds that has witnessed remarkable progress over the past several years. To date, different reactivity patterns of DACs have been successfully exploited in racemic/stereoselective syntheses of various acyclic compounds or carbocycles with an impressive structural diversity. The thriving strategies have been successfully utilized in multistep synthesis of complex target molecules. Herein, the recent advances (2015-present) in the ring-opening of DAC involving electron rich arenes and indoles, active methylene compounds, various dipolarophiles, organoborates/boronates, vinyl ethers etc. following Friedel-Crafts alkylation, annulation/formal cycloaddition reaction, organocatalytic reaction, Nazarov cyclisation etc. are presented.

Abstract
A new ionic cyclopropanation process involving the addition of diazo esters to donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DAC) activated by GaCl3 has been developed. The reactions occur via 1,2-zwitterionic gallium complexes with elimination of nitrogen in all cases to give 1,1,2,3-tetrasubstituted cyclopropanes as the main products. Also, a number of related processes with the formation of various polysubstituted cyclopropanes, alkenes, and cyclobutanes, including products of multiple diazo ester addition, have been developed. Obtained by the developed method tetrasubstituted cyclopropanes are activated cyclopropanes such as DAC and can be used for further synthesis in this capacity. Their new reaction with benzaldehyde promoted by TiCl4 and involving one of the additional functional groups has been demonstrated, which leads to five-membered lactones. The mechanisms of the occurring processes, as well as the structures and stereochemistry of a rich range of products formed, are discussed in detail.

Abstract
The bicyclopropyl system activated by incorporation of donor and acceptor groups in the presence of Lewis acids was used as a synthetic equivalent of 1,6-zwitterions. Opening of both cyclopropane rings in 2'-aryl-1,1'-bicyclopropyl-2,2-dicarboxylates (D-A bicyclopropyl, ABCDs) in the presence of GaI3 + Bu4N+GaI4- results in 5-iodo-5-arylpent-2-enylmalonates as products of HI formal 1,6-addition to the bicyclopropyl system. The use of GaCl3 or GaBr3 as a Lewis acid and terminal aryl or alkyl acetylenes as 1,6-zwitterion interceptors allows the alkyl substituent to be grown to give the corresponding acyclic 7-chloro(bromo)-hepta-2,6-dienylmalonates. The reaction of ABCDs with 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione (PTAD) catalyzed by Yb(OTf)3 also results in the opening of both cyclopropane rings. The reaction products are tetrahydropyridazine derivatives - (7,9-dioxo-1,6,8-triazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-3-en-2-ylmethyl)malonates - containing one more PTAD moiety in the malonyl group.

Abstract
Spirocyclopropane represents a privileged structural scaffold for accessing synthetic libraries of densely functionalized spirocarbo- and heterocyclic compounds. Due to the ubiquity of spirocyclic motifs as a potent pharmacophore in natural products and pharmaceuticals, recent years have witnessed significant advances in developing synthetic strategies that exploits carbon-carbon bond scission in spirocyclopropanes. This paper summarizes the recent developments in stereoselective ring expansion of spirocyclopropanes in diversity-oriented synthesis and highlights the synthetic as well as mechanistic rationale of those methodologies. This review also encompasses the applicability of the protocols in bioactive natural product syntheses.

Abstract
The concept of a chameleon activating group is considered in the context of donor-acceptor cyclopropane chemistry. When spiro-conjugated with cyclopropane, oxindole can act as an acceptor or a donor depending on the electronic nature of vicinal substituents. This dichotomy is reflected in the alteration of chemoselectivity of spiro[oxindole-1,3'-cyclopropane] ring opening with nucleophiles.
