Abstract
The unabated usage of priority anthropogenic stressors is a serious concern in the global environmental context. Pharmaceutical drugs such as furazolidone (FL) and nilutamide (NL) have far-reaching repercussions due to the presence of the reactive nitroaromatic moiety. Despite the widespread awareness regarding the dangers posed by nitroaromatic drugs, the promises to alleviate the environmental consequences of drug pollution are often unmet. Accordingly, implementing practices to monitor their presence in various media is a highly desirable, but challenging undertaking. With the advent of deep eutectic solvent-assisted synthesis, it has become possible to fabricate LDH-based sensor materials with minimal energy inputs in a sustainable and scalable manner. In this work, we have framed a series of CoFe-LDH electrocatalysts utilizing deep eutectic solvent-assisted hydrothermal strategies for the simultaneous detection of FL and NL. The CoFe-LDHs intercalated with three distinct anions, namely, (i) Cl-, (ii) SO42-, and (iii) CO32- are compared so as to establish a relationship between anion intercalation and electrochemical activity. Amongst the prepared electrodes, the CF-LDH-ii/SPCE displays highly appreciable selectivity, linear response range (0.09-237.9 μM), low detetion limits (FL = 1.2 nM and NL = 3.8 nM), high sensitivity (FL = 29.71 μA μM⁻1 cm⁻2 and NL = 19.29 μA μM⁻1 cm⁻2), good reproducibility and repeatability towards FL and NL in water and urine samples. Thus, with tailored gallery anions, the proposed electrocatalyst establishes enhanced electrocatalytic performance for the real-time analysis of pharmaceutical contaminants.

Abstract
The construction of highly ordered hierarchical nanoarrays is crucial for obtaining effective transition metal carbon nanomaterial electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water splitting. Herein, we adopted a Co metal zeolitic imidazolate framework (Co-ZIF) as a precursor by ion-exchange/etching reaction with Fe(NO3)3 to obtain hierarchical N-doped Co-Fe layered double hydroxide (CoFe-LDH) in situ generated in Co-ZIF nanoarrays based on a self-supported carbon cloth (CC) substrate noted as CoFe-LDH@Co-ZIF@CC. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of these species and their highly ordered self-supported nanoarray structure, the catalytic active sites were fully exposed and highly protected in alkaline electrolyte, which significantly promoted electron transport and improved electrochemical performance. The CoFe-LDH@Co-ZIF@CC exhibited the low overpotentials of about 225 and 319 mV at 10 and 100 mA cm−2 with a small Tafel slope of 81.8 mV dec−1 recorded in a 1.0 M KOH electrolyte. In addition, it also showed a long-term durability without obvious decay after 30 h. Therefore, its remarkable OER activity demonstrates this material’s promising application in the green hydrogen energy industry.

Abstract
Electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen is crucial for developing sustainable clean energy and protecting the environment. However, because of the multi-electron transfer in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) process, the kinetics of the reaction is seriously hindered. To address this issue, we designed and synthesized hollow CoP/FeP4 heterostructural nanorods interwoven by carbon nanotubes (CoP/FeP4@CNT) via a hydrothermal reaction and a phosphorization process. The CoP/FeP4@CNT hybrid catalyst delivers prominent OER electrochemical performances: it displays a substantially smaller Tafel slope of 48.0 mV dec−1 and a lower overpotential of 301 mV at 10 mA cm−2, compared with an RuO2 commercial catalyst; it also shows good stability over 20 h. The outstanding OER property is mainly attributed to the synergistic coupling between its unique CNT-interwoven hollow nanorod structure and the CoP/FeP4 heterojunction, which can not only guarantee high conductivity and rich active sites, but also greatly facilitate the electron transfer, ion diffusion, and O2 gas release and significantly enhance its electrocatalytic activity. This work offers a facile method to develop transition metal-based phosphide heterostructure electrocatalysts with a unique hierarchical nanostructure for high performance water oxidation.

Abstract
Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have attracted tremendous research interest in widely spreading applications. Most notably, transition-metal-bearing LDHs are expected to serve as highly active electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) due to their layered structure combined with versatile compositions. Furthermore, reducing the thickness of platelet LDH crystals to nanometer or even molecular scale via cleavage or delamination provides an important clue to enhance the activity. In this review, recent progresses on rational design of LDH nanosheets are reviewed, including direct synthesis via traditional coprecipitation, homogeneous precipitation, and newly developed topochemical oxidation as well as chemical exfoliation of parent LDH crystals. In addition, diverse strategies are introduced to modulate their electrochemical activity by tuning the composition of host metal cations and intercalated counter-anions, and incorporating dopants, cavities, and single atoms. In particular, hybridizing LDHs with conductive components or in situ growing them on conductive substrates to produce freestanding electrodes can further enhance their intrinsic catalytic activity. A brief discussion on future research directions and prospects is also summarized.
