Abstract
Spiroannulation of oxindole-3-oxy acrylates with ynones involving two overlapping, base differentiated cascades has been observed. Initial exposure of ynones and oxindole 3-oxy acrylates to K2CO3 triggered a tandem Michael-Michael cascade to deliver a pair of spiroannulated diastereomers. Further exposure to LiHMDS led to deep restructuring through a second multistep cascade involving stereoselective recreation of the C3 quaternary center to furnish 3H-spiro[furan-2,3'-indolin]-2'-ones with functional amplification and scrambling. This new scaffold can be directly accessed in a one-flask operation from ynones and oxindole-3-oxy acrylates.

Abstract
The first enantioselective formal (3 + 2) cyclocondensation involving α,β-unsaturated pyrazoleamides as 3-carbon partners was accomplished in a stepwise fashion. The stepwise esterification/Michael addition sequence is promoted by Zn(OTf)2 and quinine-squaramide derivative, respectively. The protocol enables access to spiro-fused pentacyclic spirooxindoles from coumarin-3-formylpyrazoles and 3-hydroxyoxindoles in good to satisfactory overall yields (up to 91%) with excellent dr (all cases >20:1 dr) and high ee values (up to 99%). Mechanistic investigations contributed to shedding light on the enantioselective event of the process.

Abstract
A series of compounds featuring a novel bispiro[indanedione-oxindole-cyclopropane] moiety have been synthesized through a squaramide-catalyzed [2+1] cycloaddition reaction. The tandem Michael-alkylation reaction of 2-arylidene-1,3-indanediones with 3-bromooxindoles furnished the cycloadducts in high yields with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities. The ammonium ylide in the catalytic process, as a key intermediate, was revealed by the high-resolution mass spectrometry study.

Abstract
A Rh2(OAc)4 catalyzed intermolecular aldol-type interception of phenolic oxonium ylides with isatins has been developed, which provides an effective access to 2,2-disubstituted dihydrobenzofuran derivatives containing 3-hydroxyoxindole in high yields and with high diastereoselectivities under mild reaction conditions. The antiproliferation activity of these synthesized dihydrobenzofuran and 3-hydroxyoxindole hybrid products has been tested via the CCK8 assay in different cancer cell lines; compounds 3s and 3t exhibit good anticancer potency against human colon cancer cells (HCT116 cells, 3s: IC50 = 15.99 μM; 3t: IC50 = 14.48 μM) compared to other tested compounds.
