Abstract
Syntheses of highly functionalized 4-alkylated 1,4-dihydropyridines (1,4-DHPs) from cyclic ethers and enaminones via iron(II)-mediated oxidative free radical cascade C(sp3)-H bond functionalization/C(sp3)-O bond cleavage/cyclization reaction have been first developed. This novel synthetic strategy offers an alternative method for the construction of 1,4-DHPs by using esters as the C4 sources, as well as expands the application of ethers in heterocycle synthesis.

Abstract
Abstract
Indeed, all the heterocycles comprises of either “C–C, C–N, C–S or C–O” bonds in their skeleton and construction of these bonds has laid the foundation stone of organic chemistry. The present researchers are continually attempting to develop new strategies for synthesizing miscellaneous structurally divergent molecular entities and these bond forming reactions are the fundamental tools. As a consequence, a colossal upheaval is witnessed in development of benign and sustainable synthetic routes for green bond-forming reactions envisaging carbon–carbon/heteroatom. This chapter is aimed towards highlighting the recent developments perceived in “C–C, C–N, C–S or C–O” bondconstruction especially emphasising greener perspectives i.e. carbocatalysis.

Abstract
An efficient and general method for the synthesis of 3-sulfenylindoles and 3-selenylindoles employing visible-light irradiation with graphene oxide as a promoter at room temperature has been achieved. The reaction features are high yields, simple operation, metal-free and iodine-free conditions, an easy-to-handle oxidant, and gram-scalable synthesis. This simple protocol allows one to access a wide range of 3-arylthioindoles, 3-arylselenylindoles, and even 3-thiocyanatoindoles with good to excellent yields.

Abstract
The development of graphene oxide–based heterogeneous materials with an economical and environmentally–friendly manner has the potential to facilitate many important organic transformations but proves to have few relevant reported reactions. Herein, we explore the synergistic role of catalytic systems driven by graphene oxide and visible light that form nucleophilic alkoxyl radical intermediates, which enable an anti-Markovnikov addition exclusively to the terminal alkenes, and then the produced benzyl radicals are subsequently added with N–methylquinoxalones. This photoinduced cascade radical difunctionalization of olefins offers a concise and applicable protocol for constructing alkoxyl–substituted N–methylquinoxalones.

Abstract
The direct C–H trifluoromethylation of alkynes and quinoxalinones has been achieved using a graphene oxide/Langlois' reagent system. This multi-component tandem reaction using graphene oxide as the catalyst and Langlois' reagent as the robust CF3 radical source results in the formation of olefinic C–CF3 to access a series of 3-trifluoroalkylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones. Abstract
A novel, green and efficient method is developed for the synthesis of methylene bridged bis(indolyl)methanes in good to excellent yields. The reaction employs methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) as the methylene source and selectfluor as an oxidizing agent. The scope and versatility of the methods have been successfully demonstrated with 48 examples. The metal-free transformation process is suitable for scale-up production. A selectfluor-promoted oxidative reaction mechanism is proposed based on the results of the experimental studies.

Abstract
We report herein a Lewis acid-catalyzed nucleophilic double-addition of indoles to ketones under mild conditions. This process occurs with various ketones ranging from dialkyl ketones to diaryl ketones, thereby providing access to an array of bis(indolyl)methanes bearing all-carbon quaternary centers, including tetra-aryl carbon centers. The products can be transformed into bis(indole)-fused polycyclics and bis(indolyl)alkenes.
