Platinum on 2-aminoethanethiol functionalized MIL-101 as a catalyst for alkene hydrosilylation

Recyclable TPA-Modified MIL-88-Supported Ionic Pt as a Highly Efficient Catalyst for Alkene Hydrosilylation

The hydrosilylation reaction driven by a homogeneous catalyst has been widely used in the industrial synthesis of functionalized silicone compounds. However, the homogeneous catalyst for hydrosilylation has the shortcomings of nonrecyclability, undesirable side reactions, and high cost. In this work, a highly efficient heterogeneous catalyst was prepared by loading Pt ions on MIL-88 modified with trimethoxy[3-(phenylamino)propyl]silane. In comparison with previous research studies, the resulting catalyst can exhibit high catalytic activity and excellent stability during the hydrosilylation reaction, which was attributed to the presence of a pyrrolic nitrogen structure between TPA-MIL-88 and the Pt ion. Besides them, 1.2%Pt/TPA-MIL-88 showed the highest catalytic activity and can be reused five times without significant deactivation. Importantly, 1.2%Pt/TPA-MIL-88 also achieved satisfactory results when it was used to catalyze the hydrosilylation reaction for other olefins, implying great potential for application in the silicone industry.

Recent developments in MIL-101 metal organic framework for heterogeneous catalysis

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are currently gaining considerable attention as heterogeneous catalysts. Since the functionality of the framework and the pore size of the MOFs can be adjusted over a wide range for various catalytic reactions, the usage of these materials as solid catalysts is attractive. One of the preferred catalytic mesoMOFs is MIL-101 (MIL: Material of Institute Lavoisier) family which has been mainly investigated. The large surface area, high pore volumes, and acceptable solvent/thermal stability (MIL-101(Cr) up to 300 °C) have led the MIL-101 family to be considered an ideal and widespread MOF for use as a great heterogeneous catalyst or solid support for a variety of reactions. The objective of this review is to present recent research on the use of the MIL-101 family for heterogeneous catalysis in gas and liquid phase reactions.

Partially charged platinum on aminated and carboxylated SBA-15 as a catalyst for alkene hydrosilylation

In this paper, we report the successful preparation of a novel bifunctional heterogeneous catalyst Pt δ+/SBA-APTE-SA with a partial positively charged Pt δ+ electronic structure via post-synthesis modification of (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTE), succinic anhydride (SA) and platinum precursors. The resulting catalyst showed superior catalytic performance for the hydrosilylation of 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyltrisiloxane (MDHM) with allyloxy polyethylene glycol (APEG) compared to a heterogeneous platinum catalyst. In addition, our catalyst was suitable for the hydrosilylation of other alkenes. Furthermore, the catalyst displayed sufficient stability after being reused five times without noticeable inactivation. In terms of cycle number and atomic utilization efficiency, it has potential applications as a green hydrosilylation method for industry.
