Abstract
Hydrogels with favorable biocompatibility and antibacterial properties are essential in postoperative wound hemorrhage care, facilitating rapid wound healing. The present investigation employed electrostatic adsorption of black phosphorus nanosheets (BPNPs) and nano‑silver (AgNPs) to cross-link the protonated amino group NH3+ of quaternized chitosan (QCS) with the hydroxyl group of hyaluronic acid (HA). The electrostatic interaction between the two groups resulted in the formation of a three-dimensional gel network structure. Additionally, the hydrogel containing AgNPs deposited onto BPNPs was assessed for its antibacterial properties and effects on wound healing. Hydrogel demonstrated an outstanding drug-loading capacity and could be employed for wound closure. AgNPs loaded on the BPNPs released silver ions and exhibited potent antibacterial properties when exposed to 808 nm near-infrared (NIR) radiation. The ability of the hydrogel to promote wound healing in an acute wound model was further evaluated. The BPNPs were combined with HA and QCS in the aforementioned hydrogel system to improve adhesion, combine the photothermal and antibacterial properties of the BPNPs, and promote wound healing. Therefore, the reported hydrogels displayed excellent biocompatibility and hold significant potential for application in the field of tissue engineering for skin wound treatment.

Abstract
Achieving rapid hemostasis and highly effective antibacterial holds significant importance in the early-stage treatment of wounds. In this study, a hybrid aerogel patch comprising carbon quantum dots (CQDs) modified 2-dimensional (2D) porphyrinic metal-organic framework (MOF) nanosheets was designed by incorporating gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) and polyacrylamide (PAM) based matrix. On one hand, CQDs were stably doped onto the surface of the 2D MOF nanosheets, thereby enhancing the photodynamic activity through fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) process. After the preparation of hybrid aerogel patch, the patch loaded with CQDs-doped 2D MOF exhibited excellent photodynamic bactericidal activity against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus (>99.99 %) and Gram-negative Escherichia coli (>99.99 %). On the other hand, the hybrid patch with highly porous and absorbent structure can rapidly absorb blood to aggregate clotting components and form a hydration barrier covering the wound to enhance hemostasis. Besides, the hemolysis and cytotoxicity assays demonstrated a good biocompatibility of this designed patch. In summary, this 2D MOF-loaded aerogel patch holds a potential to achieve rapid hemostasis and effective anti-infection in the early-stage treatment of traumatic wounds.

Abstract
Background Bacterial invasion, protracted inflammation, and angiogenesis inhibition are hallmarks of chronic diabetic wounds, bringing about patient morbidity and rising healthcare costs. For such wounds, there are currently few efficient therapies available. Methods We reported the development of carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS)-based self-healing hydrogel loaded with ultra-small copper nanoparticles (Cunps) for local treatment of diabetic wound healing. The structure of Cunps was identified by XRD, TEM, XPS and other methods, and the characterization of the synthesized Cunps-loaded self-healing carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS)-protocatechualdehyde (PCA) hydrogel (Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel) was further investigated. The therapeutic effect of Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel in diabetic wound healing was explored in vitro and in vivo. Results The findings showed that a kind of ultra-small size copper nanoparticles with excellent biocompatibility was prepared. CMCS was chemically conjugated to PCA to form self-healing hydrogels via the formation of an amide bond followed by the loading of ultra-small copper nanoparticles. The obtained Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel showed a typical three-dimensional interlinked network structure with self-healing ability and porosity. It exhibited good biocompatibility in diabetic wounds. Furthermore, Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel group significantly prevented bacterial growth in the skin wound of diabetic rats as compared to model group and CMCS-PCA hydrogel-treated group. After 3 days, no visible bacterial proliferation was observed. It also increased angiogenesis through Cunps mediated activation of ATP7A to prevent induction of autophagy. Furthermore, Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel mainly depended on PCA-induced inhibition on inflammation of macrophage via JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. As a result, compared with delayed wound healing process with lower wound healing rate valued at 68.6% within 7 days in the model group, Cunps@CMCS-PCA significantly accelerated wound healing recovery and increased wound healing rate to 86.5%, suggesting that Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel effectively accelerated wound healing. Conclusion Cunps@CMCS-PCA hydrogel offered a new therapeutic approach for quickening diabetic wound healing.

Abstract
In our previous work, we successfully stimulated lipase activity in an anhydrous reaction system using porous polyacrylamide hydrogel microsphere (PPAHM) as a carrier of lipase and free water. However, the effect of the existence state and content of water in lipase-porous polyacrylamide hydrogel microsphere (L-PPAHM) on the interfacial activation remained unclear. In this work, L-PPAHM with different water contents were obtained by water mist rehydration and were used to catalyze the synthesis of conjugated linoleic acid ethyl ester (CLA-EE). The results revealed that there were three existence states of water in L-PPAHM: bound water, semi-bound water and free water, and free water provided the "micro water environment" for the interfacial activation of lipase. The reusability of L-PPAHM with different water contents showed that the activity and stability of L-PPAHM could be achieved by varying the water content of L-PPAHM. The proportion of free water in L-PPAHM increased, and the activity of L-PPAHM increased, but the strength of hydrogen bond interaction between PPAHM and lipase weakened, resulting in the decrease of stability. L-PPAHM with 2/3 of water absorption could ensure sufficient immobilized lipase activity and stability, and its water absorption property could reduce the free water generated during esterification, thus increasing the yield of CLA-EE.

Abstract
Enamel non-cavitated lesions (NCLs) are subsurface enamel porosity from carious demineralization. The developed enamel cannot repair itself once NCLs occurs. The regeneration of mineral crystals in a biomimetic environment is an effective way to repair enamel subsurface defects. Previously, an amelogenin-derived peptide named QP5 was proven to repair demineralized enamel. In this work, inspired by amelogenesis, a novel biomimetic hydrogel composite containing the QP5 peptide and bioactive glass (BG) was designed, in which QP5 could promote enamel remineralization by guiding the calcium and phosphorus ions provided by BG. Also, BG could adjust the mineralization micro-environment to alkalinity, simulating the pH regulation of ameloblasts during enamel maturity. The BQ hydrogel composite showed biosafety and possessed capacity for enamel binding, ion release and pH buffering. Enamel NCLs treated with the BQ hydrogel composite showed a higher reduction in lesion depth and mineral loss both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, compared to the hydrogels containing only BG or QP5, groups treated with the BQ hydrogel composite attained more surface microhardness recovery and color recovery, exhibiting resistance to erosion and abrasion of the remineralization layer. We envision that the BQ hydrogel composite can provide a biomimetic micro-environment to favor enamel remineralization, thus reducing the lesion depth and increasing the mineral content as a promising biomimetic material for enamel NCLs.

Abstract
Chronic wounds are characterized by long-term inflammation and persistent infection, which make them difficult to heal. Therefore, an urgent desire is to develop a multifunctional wound dressing that can prevent wound infection and promote wound healing by creating a favorable microenvironment. In this study, a curcumin-based metal-organic framework (QCSMOF-Van), loaded with vancomycin and coated with quaternary ammonium salt chitosan (QCS), was prepared. Multifunctional composite hydrogels were conveniently synthesized by combining methacrylic anhydride modified gelatin and methacrylic anhydride modified oxidized sodium alginate with QCSMOF-Van through radical polymerization and Schiff base reaction. It is important to note that the QCSMOF-Van could capture bacteria through the positive charges on the surface of QCS. In this process, due to the synergistic effect of broad-spectrum antibacterial Zn2+ and vancomycin, the metabolism of bacteria was well inhibited, and the efficient capturing and rapid killing of bacteria were achieved. The QCSMOF-Van hydrogels could precisely regulate the balance of M1/M2 phenotypes of macrophages, thereby promoting the regeneration of nerves and blood vessels, which promotes the rapid healing of chronic wounds. This advanced cascade management strategy for tissue regeneration highlights the potential of multifunctional composite hydrogels in chronic wound dressings.

Abstract
Bacterial infection has been a great threat to wounds due to the abuse of antibiotics and drug resistance. Elaborately constructing an efficient antibacterial strategy for accelerated healing of bacteria-infected wounds is of great importance. Herein, we develop a transferrin-conjugated copper peroxide nanoparticle-hydrogel (denoted as CP@Tf-hy) wound dressing with no toxicity to mammalian cells at a test dosage. When exposed to an initial acidic wound environment, the CP@Tf-hy simultaneously displays in situ self-supplied H2O2 and pH-responsive release of Fenton catalytic copper ions accompanied by highly toxic hydroxyl radical (•OH) generation against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Meanwhile, the positively charged CP@Tf-hy can efficiently trap and restrain negatively charged bacteria to the range of •OH destruction to greatly overcome its intrinsic disadvantages of short life and diffusion distance. Importantly, the CP@Tf-hy consumes the bacterial overexpressed antioxidant glutathione while boosting Fenton catalytic copper(I) ions to generate more •OH. The synergistic effects of the enhanced Fenton reaction, responsive copper ion release, and bacterial trapping can achieve high bacterial elimination efficacy (7 log reduction). In vivo investigations demonstrate that the porous CP@Tf-hy significantly promotes hemostasis, cell proliferation, and migration of the wound, consequently accelerating bacteria-infected wound healing. The safe, low-cost, and all-in-one CP@Tf-hy holds great prospects as an antibacterial dressing for rapid resistant bacteria-infected purulent wound healing.

Abstract
Lipase is the most widely used enzyme in industry. Due to its unique "lid" structure, lipase can only show high activity at the oil-water interface, which means that water is needed in the catalytic esterification process. However, the traditional lipase catalytic system cannot effectively control "micro-water" in the esterification environment, resulting in the high content of free water, which hinders the esterification reaction and reduces the yield. In this paper, a promising strategy of esterification catalyzed by polyacrylamide hydrogel immobilized lipase is reported. The porous polyacrylamide hydrogel microspheres (PHM) prepared by inverse emulsion polymerization are used as carrier to adsorb lipase by hydrogen bonding interaction. These hydrogel microspheres provide a "micro-water environment" for lipase in the anhydrous reaction system, and further provide an oil-water interface for "interface activation" of lipase. The obtained lipase-porous polyacrylamide hydrogel microspheres (L-PHMs) exhibit higher temperature and pH stability compared with free lipase, and the optimum enzymatic activity reach 1350 U/g (pH 6, 40 °C). L-PHMs can still remain about 49% of their original activity after 20 reuses. Furthermore, L-PHMs have been successfully applied to catalyze the synthesis of conjugated linoleic acid ethyl ester. The results suggest that this immobilization method opens up a new way for the application of lipase in ester synthesis.

Abstract
The morphology of nanomaterials (geometric shape and dimension) play a significant role in its various physical and chemical properties. Thus, it is essential to link morphology with performance in specific applications. For this purpose, the morphology of copper metal-organic polyhedra (Cu-MOP) can be modulated through distinct assembly process, which facilitates the exploration of the relationship between morphology and catalytic performance. In this work, the assemblies of Cu-MOP with three different morphologies (nanorods, nanofibers and nanosheets) were facilely prepared by the variation of solvent mixture of N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and methanol, revealed the important role of the interaction between the surface group and the solvent on the morphology of these assemblies. Cu-MOP nanofibers exhibited the highest mimetic peroxidase enzyme activity over the Cu-MOP nanosheets and nanorods, which have been utilized in the detection of glucose. Cu-MOPs assemblies with tunable morphology accompanied with adjustable mimic peroxidase activity, had great potential applications in the field of bioanalytical chemistry and biomedicals.
