Abstract
Hydroboration of allenes is powerful and atom-economic approach to the synthesis of organoboranes, such as the highly versatile allylboranes. However, regarding regiocontrol, existing methods uniformly deliver the boron functionality to the less hindered β- or γ-position, but not the α-position. The latter is particularly challenging for allenes with substantial steric difference between the two terminals and lacking electronic bias (e.g., 1,1-disubstituted allenes). Herein we report the first highly efficient ruthenium-catalyzed hydroboration of allenes featuring exclusive α-regioselectivity, providing access to sterically hindered allyl boranes that are limitedly accessible by conventional methods. DFT studies suggested that the unusual α-regioselectivity is attributed to the disfavored reductive elimination at the γ-position due to the high energy cost required to overcome the agostic interaction and rotation of the key π-allyl intermediates. This protocol is also applicable to the previously unprecedented α-hydroalkynylation and underdeveloped α-hydrosilylation of allenes, thus complementing known catalytic systems and providing convenient access to highly congested yet densely-functionalized allyl silanes and skipped enynes bearing a fully-substituted allylic carbon center. It is expected that this ruthenium-catalyzed system can serve as a new platform for the development of other hydrofunctionalization processes with unorthodox selectivity.

Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric hydroboration of unsaturated bonds has been recognized as the most straightforward method for the construction of chiral organoboron compounds. Although catalytic asymmetric hydroboration of alkenes has been well-developed, enantioselective hydroboration of allenes still remains rare probably due to the challenges in controlling the enantio-, stereo-, and regioselectivity. Additionally, the hydroboration products might go through over-borohydride, making the catalytic asymmetric dihydroboration of allenes challenging. Here, we report a cobalt-catalyzed asymmetric dihydroboration of allenes using a ligand relay strategy with two simple ligands. This protocol shows excellent enantio-, stereo-, and regioselectivity with positive functional group compatibilities in the construction of chiral 1,4-diboronate products. The applications of this reaction are demonstrated by various product derivatizations, gram-scale reactions, and the preparation of artigenin analogues. Mechanistic studies indicate that the achiral ligand controls the first hydroboration of allenes, and the chiral oxazoline iminopyridine ligand is responsible for the subsequent isomerization and asymmetric hydroboration.

Abstract
Unprecedented regioselective trans-hydroboration and carboboration of unbiased electronically internal alkynes were realized via a nickel catalysis system with the aid of the directing group strategy. Furthermore, the excellent α- and β-regioselectivity could be accurately switched by the nitrogen ligand (terpy) and phosphine ligand (Xantphos). Mechanistic studies provided an insight into the rational reaction process, that underwent the cis-to-trans isomerization of alkenyl nickel species. This transformation not only expands the scope of transition-metal-catalyzed boration of internal alkynes but also, more particularly, portrays the vast prospects of the directing group strategy in the selective functionalization of unactivated alkynes.

Abstract
Here, we report the development of cobalt(I)-catalyzed regioselective allylic alkylation reactions of tertiary allyl carbonates with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. A family of well-defined tetrahedral cobalt(I) complexes bearing commercially available bidentate bis(phosphine) ligands [(P,P)Co(PPh3 )Cl] are synthesized and explored as catalysts in allylic alkylation reactions. The catalyst [(dppp)Co(PPh3 )Cl] (dppp=1,3-Bis(diphenylphosphino)propane) enables the alkylation of a large variety of tertiary allyl carbonates with high yields and excellent regioselectivity for the branched product. Remarkably, this methodology is selective for the activation of tertiary allyl carbonates even in the presence of secondary allyl carbonates. This contrasts with the selectivity observed in cobalt-catalyzed allylic alkylations enabled by visible light photocatalysis. Mechanistic insights by means of experimental and computational investigations support a Co(I)/Co(III) catalytic cycle.

Abstract
A highly efficient regio- and stereoselective heterogeneous palladium-catalyzed hydroboration reaction of enallenes was developed. Nanopalladium immobilized on microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was successfully employed as an efficient catalyst for the enallene hydroboration reaction. The nanopalladium particles were shown by HAADF-STEM to have an average size of 2.4 nm. The cellulose-supported palladium catalyst exhibits high stability and provides vinyl boron products in good to high isolated yields (up to 90 %). The nanopalladium catalyst can be efficiently recycled and it was demonstrated that the catalyst can be used in 7 runs with a maintained high yield (>80 %). The vinylboron compounds prepared from enallenes are important synthetic intermediates that can be used in various organic synthetic transformations.

Abstract
The first copper-catalyzed regiodivergent cyanoboration of internal allenes with B2 pin2 (bis(pinacolato)diboron) and NCTS (N-cyano-N-phenyl-p-toluenesulfonamide) derivatives is reported. The β,γ- and α,β-cyanoborylated products were synthesized with high regio- and stereo-selectivity. Computational studies revealed that nucleophilic addition of allylcopper or related intermediates on cyanation reagent is the regio- and stereo-determining step, while transmetalation with B2 pin2 is the rate-determining step. The nucleophilic addition step proceeds via inner-sphere mechanism in the CuI /P(o-tol)3 and CuI /Xantphos (P(o-tol)3 =tris(o-methylphenyl)phosphine, Xantphos=4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)-9,9-dimethylxanthene) catalytic systems and via outer-sphere mechanism in the CuII /Xantphos catalytic system, respectively.

Abstract
A straightforward, efficient, and selective method for the preparation of novel boryl-functionalized enynes or dienes via [Pt(PPh3)4]-catalyzed diboration of a broad spectrum of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes was developed. The catalytic cycle of diboration was proposed on the basis of low-temperature 31P NMR studies. An alternative isolation method via product condensation on a cold finger was developed, which, in contrast to previous literature reports, eliminates the need for the additional transformation of rapidly decomposing enynyl pinacol boronates to more stable silica-based column chromatography derivatives during the separation step. To prove the efficiency of this simple catalytic protocol, bisboryl-functionalized enynes were synthesized in a gram scale and tested as useful building blocks in advanced organic transformations, such as hydrosilylation and Suzuki and sila-Sonogashira couplings. The presence of silyl, boryl, as well as other functions like halogen or alkoxy in their structures builds a new class of multifunctionalized enynes that might be modified in various chemical reactions.

The transformation of the carbon-boron bond into a carbon-X (X = C, N, and O) bond in a stereocontrolled fashion has become invaluable in medicinal chemistry, agrochemistry, and natural products chemistry as well as materials science. Over the past decade, first-row d-block transition metals have become increasingly widely used as catalysts for the formation of a carbon-boron bond, a transformation traditionally catalyzed by expensive precious metals. This recent focus on alternative transition metals has enabled growth in fundamental methods in organoboron chemistry. This review surveys the current state-of-the-art in the use of first-row d-block element-based catalysts for the formation of carbon-boron bonds.

Abstract
A novel methodology to access synthetically versatile vinylboronic esters through a ligand-controlled cobalt-catalyzed hydroboration of terminal and internal alkynes is reported. The approach relies on the in situ reduction of Co(II) by H-BPin in the presence of bisphosphine ligands generating catalytically active Co(I) hydride complexes. This procedure avoids the use of stoichiometric amounts of base, and no boron-containing byproducts are generated which is translated into high functional group tolerance and atom economy.

Abstract
Ligand-controlled regiodivergence has been developed for catalytic semireduction of allenamides with excellent chemo- and stereocontrol. This system also provides an example of catalytic regiodivergent semireduction of allenes for the first time. The divergence of the semireduction is enabled by ligand switch with the same palladium pre-catalyst under operationally simple and mild conditions. Monodentate ligand XPhos exclusively promotes selective 1,2-semireduction to afford allylic amides, while bidentate ligand BINAP completely switched the regioselectivity to 2,3-semireduction, producing (E)-enamide derivatives.

Abstract
A chromium-catalyzed dimerization/hydroboration of allenes is developed to access synthetically versatile boryl-functionalized skipped dienes with a catalyst generated in situ from CrCl2 and a pyridine-2,6-diimine ligand mes PDI. A variety of allenes reacted with pinacolborane (HBpin) to afford the corresponding boryl-functionalized (E,Z)-1,4-dienes in high yields and with excellent selectivity. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopic studies suggest that this chromium-catalyzed reaction probably proceeds through a chromium(I) hydride intermediate.

Abstract
In the past decade, the use of earth-abundant metals in homogeneous catalysis has flourished. In particular, metals such as cobalt and iron have been used extensively in reductive transformations including hydrogenation, hydroboration, and hydrosilylation. Manganese, on the other hand, has been considerably less explored in these reductive transformations. Here, we report a well-defined manganese complex, [Mn(iPrBDI)(OTf)2] (2a; BDI = bipyridinediimine), that is an active precatalyst in the hydroboration of a variety of electronically differentiated alkenes (>20 examples). The hydroboration is specifically selective for terminal alkenes and occurs with exclusive anti-Markovnikov selectivity. In contrast, when using the analogous cobalt complex [Co(iPrBDI)(OTf)2] (3a), internal alkenes are hydroborated efficiently, where a sequence of isomerization steps ultimately leads to their hydroboration. The contrasting terminal versus internal alkene selectivity for manganese and cobalt was investigated computationally and is further discussed in the herein-reported study.
