Abstract
Experimental results and computational insights explain the key role of transition-metal catalysis/Brønsted acid synergism in the achievement of the sequential regioselective direct heteroarylation/cyclocondensation reactions of β-(2-aminophenyl)-α,β-ynones with a variety of electron-rich aromatic heterocyclic/arenes to afford quinoline-(hetero)aromatic hybrids. The first approach to the synthesis of 4-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)quinolines is described. The effectiveness of various transition metals is compared.

Abstract
An N-heterocyclic carbene-zinc alkyl complex [ImDippZn(CH2CH3)2] (Im = imidazol-2-ylidene and Dipp = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl) acts as a catalyst in the cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) of a wide range of primary and secondary amines and hydrosilanes to yield a substantial quantity of the corresponding aminosilanes with good chemoselectivity at room temperature. A broad substrate scope was observed during the zinc-catalyzed CDC reaction. Two zinc complexes, [{ImMesZn(μ-NHPh)(NHPh)}2] (Mes = mesityl) (3) and [{ImDippZn(CH2CH3)(μ-H)}2] (4), were isolated and structurally characterized as intermediates through controlled reactions to ascertain the CDC mechanism.

Abstract
Intramolecular hydroarylation-redox cross-dehydrogenative coupling of N-propargylanilines with phosphite diesters proceeded in the presence of Cu(I)-catalysts (20 mol%) to selectively give 2-phosphono-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines in good yields with 100% atomic utilization. P-H and two C-H bonds are activated at once and these hydrogen atoms are trapped by a propargylic triple bond in the molecule.

Abstract
A novel synthetic approach for the construction of 1,2,3,3a,4,5-hexahydroimidazo[1,2-a]quinolines in good yields (up to 75%) with excellent stereoselectivity (dr up to 94:6, ee up to >99%) under one-pot domino ring-opening cyclization (DROC) conditions has been developed. The DROC protocol proceeds through a Lewis acid catalyzed SN2-type ring-opening of activated aziridines with N-propargylanilines followed by intramolecular cyclization comprising concomitant hydroarylation and hydroamination steps in a domino fashion.
