Abstract
In this study, cellulose nanocrystals hollow microspheres (HMs) were fabricated through Pickering emulsion polymerization, in which hydrophobically modified cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) acted as Pickering stabilizers. The hollow interior core was prepared by solvent evaporation. This manuscript describes the synthesis of HMs in detail. The hollow structure and nanoscale size of HMs were verified using TEM. The resultant HMs could easily coat self-forming films on the surface of PET fabrics. Additionally, these coatings exhibited superior breathability and moisture permeability properties with a high one-way transport index of 936.33% and a desirable overall moisture management capability of 0.72. Cellulose nanocrystal hollow microsphere coatings could be used as a moisture-wicking functionality agent for finishing fabrics, oil-water separation, and fog harvesting.

Abstract
AbstractNowadays, diverse leather usage conditions and increasing demands from consumers challenge the leather industry. Traditional leather manufacturing is facing long-term challenges, including low-value threshold, confined application fields, and environmental issues. Leather inherits all the biomimetic properties of natural skin such as flexibility, sanitation, cold resistance, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and other cross-domain functions, achieving unremitting attention in multi-functional bio-based materials. Series of researches have been devoted to creating and developing leather-based flexible multi-functional bio-materials, including antibacterial leather, conductive leather, flame-retardant leather, self-cleaning leather, aromatic leather, and electromagnetic shielding leather. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of the commonly used leather-based functional materials. Furthermore, the possible challenges for the development of functional leathers are proposed, and expected development directions of leather-based functional materials are discussed. This review may promote and inspire the emerging preparation and applications of leather for flexible functional bio-based materials.

Abstract
A superhydrophobic surface was achieved using a monolayer of the perpendicularly oriented epoxy-silica@polydivinylbenzene (PDVB) Janus particles (JPs) on an epoxy resin substrate. The epoxy-silica@PDVB JPs were synthesized from the silica@PDVB/polystyrene (PS) JPs through selective etching of the PDVB/PS belly and the surface modification of the silica part. The modified silica parts can be covalently bonded with the epoxy resin to make the perpendicular orientation spontaneous as well as the coating more robust. The outward PDVB bellies can constitute the micro-/nanoscale hierarchical structures for the superhydrophobic property. The superhydrophobic coating exhibits water repellence and self-cleaning properties. Moreover, the coating exhibits good chemical durability that it can keep the superhydrophobic property after long-time immersion in various aqueous solutions and organic solvents. The coating is still superhydrophobic after water flushing and mechanical wearing, showing the perfect mechanical durability.

Abstract
Poly(dimethylsiloxane) is a common dispersant, modifier, and binder in the field of bioinspired wettability. Herein, the soot production when poly(dimethylsiloxane) was burning was used to directly construct a superhydrophobic coating with the water contact angle reaching 159.7°. After the lubricant was infused, its transparency was greater than 80% of air in the visible light range of the human eye. In addition, the sliding angle and contact angle of the coating were stable for 15 days. It showed excellent oil-locking ability and stability. Even if the superhydrophobic coating was immersed in various organic solvents for 15 days, its hydrophobicity did not change. Moreover, the coating had an excellent anti-fouling ability and self-cleaning ability to meet actual application conditions. Furthermore, the preparation method was simple and rapid, without the participation of fluorine-containing modifiers, and provides a brand-new method for preparing transparent lubricant-infused surfaces.

Abstract
Aptamer modified hollow silica nanoparticles with pollen structure (plSP@aptamer) were synthesized and used as a nanocarrier for tumor targeted and pH-responsive drug delivery. The 292 ± 14 nm interior void in diameter together with 11.8 nm surface pore size of plSP@aptamer nanoparticles contributed to a high drug loading efficiency of 0.509 g g-1. Furthermore, the drug delivery system was pH-responsive, and the releasing efficiency was up to 87.5% at pH of 5. The special spikes of this plSP@aptamer nanoparticles acted as "entry claws" to enhanced the interaction between cell and drug nanocarriers and then increased the internalization rate of drug vehicles. The cell uptake assay suggested that most of doxorubicin (DOX)@plSP@aptamer nanoparticles can escape form lysosome and located in nuclei of MCF-7 cells. The targeted performance testing showed that almost no DOX@plSP@aptamer were internalized by normal cells, indicating a high specificity of our drug vehicles. The cytotoxicity of nanoparticles was also investigated, the plSP@aptamer particles had excellent biocompatibility and the cell viability was nearly 100%. After loaded with DOX, DOX@plSP@aptamer showed great potential in targeted therapy of tumors, and only 4.2% MCF-7 cells were viable.
