Abstract
An iodine-mediated method for the synthesis of 6-alkylthio-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamines by the reaction of N-alkylpyridinium salts and NH4SCN in air is reported. Twenty-seven compounds were obtained under the standard conditions. Pyridinium salts work as benzyl-group transfer reagents to promote the formation of the CBn-SSCN bond and thereby the construction of the triazine skeleton. A plausible mechanism is proposed based on the experimental results and literature survey.

Abstract
For the synthesis of 1-(2-(1H-pyrrole-2-carbonyl)phenyl)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)urea, the final product, two different methods were used, in one or two steps, from (2-aminophenyl)(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methanone. The one-step synthesis entailed a carbonylation reaction with 1/3 equivalent of triphosgene in the presence of two equivalents of trimethylamine, followed by the addition of 4-methoxyaniline to the in situ generated aryl isocyanate. The two-step synthesis required first the preparation of phenyl(2-(1H-pyrrole-2-carbonyl)phenyl)carbamate and then a substitution reaction by 4-methoxyaniline. The first method produced the final product in 72% yield, which was the best yield. The structure of the final product was confirmed by FTIR, UV-VIS, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and high resolution mass spectrometry.

Abstract
AbstractAn efficient, environmentally benign, chemoselective, microwave-assisted N-formylation protocol of aromatic, aliphatic, alicyclic, benzylic amines, inactivated aromatic amines and sterically demanding heterocyclic amines using 2-formyl-1,3-dimethyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium iodide has been developed. This affords a series of N-substituted formamides with good to excellent yields (23 examples, 53–96% yield) and can be readily scaled. The methodology can be further extended to synthesize benzimidazole and isocyanide derivatives.

Abstract
Carbonylation of (hetero)aryl iodides/bromides with highly deactivated 2-aminopyridines using Pd-Co(CO)4 bimetallic catalysis is accomplished. The use of Co2(CO)8 as a solid CO(g) source enhanced reaction rates observed when compared to CO(g), and excellent yields highlight the versatility of the developed protocol. A wide range of electronically and sterically demanding heterocyclic amines and (hetero)aryl iodides/bromides employed for this study resulted in excellent yields of amino carbonylated products. The developed methodology was further extended to synthesize Trypanosome brucie and luciferase inhibitors.
